By far the worst bank for customers. They're so clueless. I called about a concern that I haven't received my card as yet and I was told that it is still on the way even though it has been more than 14 days. They could not issue a new card. For a card that was never activated, there was charges being made on it. Unbelievable their customer service is horrible. Avoid this bank for your own protection. read more

I called this branch several times and could never get a person on the phone. I went to see a teller and ask why my online account is demanding to have personal information regarding my pension and any other sources of income since I already have my direct deposit there. Mind you I have been with Citi for over a decade. Frankly I am no where near retirement and don't understand why it is their business where my pension money is. The teller advised me to call customer service --which I did after I got back home. 20 minutes on the phone with a representative who I can BARELY understand only to be told "sorry maam you need to call another number". Called that number only to be told 15 minutes later that I need to return to the branch. Tried to log in again today to receive a message saying " if you don't fill in the information we need from you you risk to have your account locked". Sorry what?? Citibank gets to demand personal information that does not pertain to them, I pay my taxes and work like a good little soldier, only to be told "if you don't do what we say we will just cut you off from your account??" yeah ok. With no monies here, no safe deposit boxes no CD's, no teller service interaction -- I can say it's being taken under consideration. And although it felt and looked like a frosted ice water cubicle farm plots of office space, there was much more behind them. It seems to me that lines in all banks are more predictable than where ever else we must stand and begin to notice unimportant physical things. A collar with a tag sticking out from the young ladies sweater in front of us, a crooked painting in the corner, they seem so very interesting to me now. As I entered the frosted glass zone, I got smacked by better air conditioning & I loved and needed it. Inquiring down the row to any that might respond "are notary services available today, please?" Crossing my path that very instant at that perfect point in the crossroad, I got the over the shoulder finger "follow me" comforting curl toward the larger offices in the rear. I'm sorry for not recalling his name, it is most certainly worth mentioning it here, I'm straining & I just can't grab it. Well spoken, well dressed, well manicured--proper.. Took to my paper with a close examining eye, posed a question and stamped it. No fee as my tip indicated, but that matters not, not now as I reflect upon my experience. How many banking associates does it take to process my request? A simple transaction is work heavily involved with immense effort = too much work to some people! Three. ONE was on the phone ignoring my presence deploying to oblivion behind the Citibank Battalion customer service counter. TWO was standing next to the customer service platform counter serving as pure decoration, nothing more. Utterly useless. THREE was a teller who is inattentive to adhere with a typical closed listening skills and throwing rude scowl looks at me. I lash directly at the teller out of frustration when NOT one soul was ready, willing or sprightly able to choose to help me. Ergo, I repeated THREE (3) times: "I have a change in my profile which is a simple request!" I wrote my old vs. new information clearly and lash at the teller with "it is a simple request!! How difficult is it for you to update my contact details??" It is not rocket science that requires a doctoral degree. I've been coming to this location forever in Forest Hills. It's serviced me and my family decently enough, but the system for which it operates is slow and in need of an update. The machines tend to bug up often when i go to check my account and the line to get help is usually short but unmoving. I was recently there to cancel my debit card because I had misplaced mine and the wait to get helped took almost over a half hour. The person who eventually assisted me with the issue was a bit hesitant on what to do since i was in the circumstance that i didn't have my ID on my person either. They were however able to transfer me to someone on the phone who works for citibank who helped me with the issue. I'm giving this location 2 stars because of its slow service and unavailability, but staff have never given me too much strife when i finally got to them. read more

I live five minutes from here so wanted to re-open an account. But this Amy person refused to do it for me although I have all the documents. She told me that to save time, I should go to the branch I opened the account, which is 1 hour away. Wtf. Then I bumped into her again the next time I visit and she told me she changed my account so it's free as long as I meet the minimum balance. Then I was charged a fee right after a month! Turns out that the account was never converted. Wow, talk about being incompetent if not just screwing over customers outright!!!! read more

Oh, I used to love citibank. Now they're charging me 10 bucks for my checking account and another 10 for my joint checking account. So what was free....just became 20 dollars a month. Funny thing? I wouldn't get charged these fees if I had more than 1500 in my savings. They ONLY charge people who already have NO money. Makes a lot of sense. I use TD Bank now and it's AMAZING! I had a hard time convincing my bf that Citibank was the best option to open up a joint account. I walk in there is no one in front to greet like banks usually have somebody at least to greet. We walk in look to the right and see a sign-in sheet. We sign, sit down and wait. A couple with a child walk a bank teller all of sudden becomes available and they just take a seat and my bf and I aren't even acknowledge at this point. We asked one of the associates and he said somebody will come get us. We keep waiting and finally we get a person to help us open up the account. Terrible customer service. Today for the first time I was required to assist my mother, who at 91, after a lifetime of independence, is starting to have difficulty doing her banking without help. I want to personally commend Enrico at the 71st Avenue branch, along with his wonderful Citibank colleague Sita. What could have been an anxiety provoking episode for mom was no problem at all! Both of these fine Citibank employees were sensitive to my mother's needs, made sure the necessary papers got signed and mom reassured about what was happening. Moreover they explained things to her, so she could understand the process. They treated me, and more importantly..her, with respect and kindness, were elder friendly, not condescending, (a rarity these days!) All in all...Citi was very pleasant to deal with. read more

Staff here is very helpful and nice, lines are minimum for the most part. The tellers are polite and don't act like miserable bank slaves. 4 stars only because Citibank still requires envelopes for deposits (instead of inserting the check directly into the machine). SNY had Keith Hernandez of the 1986 Mets do an meet and greet autograph session last Friday from noon to 1:30pm. Organizers of the event did a pretty well job. There was no scheme, Citi didn't force people to open an account with them in order to meet Keith. This wasn't exclusively for just Citi members, it was open to the public. The line moved fairly fast, the people of Citi Bank also provided everyone on line with bottles of water, cookies, and fresh fruits. It was pretty awesome meeting Keith Hernandez for the second time. I met him years ago as a kid at a charity fundraiser at the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island North Shore children's hospital. He was a bit of dick then because of his fame and popularity among other '86 Mets members. I followed him as I saw him quietly exiting through the side door. I remembered asking him for an auto, he gave me the death stare and just left. When I met him last Friday, he seemed humble and warm towards the children and fans this time around. I'm just glad I had the opportunity to get his auto thanks to SNY and Citi Bank for setting this up in Forest Hills. read more
