I've learned a lot about banking since then, the hidden fees they don't mention when you first open your account- and try to down play that they told you when you know they didn't. Usually they take off the fee for first time offenders. I also learned to opt for no paper statements because $2+ a statement is just ridiculous. Sadly, I will be closing my account with Citizens Bank once my Claim clears and they give me back my money that is rightfully mine. Three stars for this location, staff are friendly and the guy who was shoveling the walk this past weekend - thank you for holding the door open for me.

Called Citizen's Bank and B.O.A. --- all of these banks wanted to actually charge me a monthly fee in order to use my money and extend credit. Either that or they wanted me to jump through hoops like setting up regular deposits and etc. What?! Ain't nobody got time for that. Evans Bank was one of the good guys. No fees with no stupid rules or minimums (except the min of $25 to open the account in the first place). Matthew, the assistant branch manager helped us open the account and personable throughout the process. The account also had some nifty features: if you DO setup a monthly deposit and enroll in paperless checking, you get 1.25% APY and a refund on all ATM fees under $5. Now that's positive reinforcement I can get behind and rave about. Very cool bank that started in WNY and only has a dozen or so branches locally. I applied for my loan, and called the next day as suggested, to find out the results. I was denied. I inquired about a co-signer and was told it would help. So I brought one in, who was also tattooed. He was also stared at and given off looks. We filled out the paperwork and called I'm a day for results. Well, I was denied again?!? What? How? I ended up going to Community Bank to fill a loan app out there, with little expectations. My co-signer was going to meet me there....until I was told I did not even need a co-signer!!!??? So you tell me what that was about at Bank of Holland?! Warning: if you're heavily tattooed or have a unique style, avoid this bank, because they will judge you. I'd give zero stars if I could have.

When he passed away…read morehe left money to his grandson that I have overseen for the last six years and was paying him his monthly amount of money.I was told by the bank from the very beginning that I would not be charged any money monthly because my father had such a good standing with this bank. But when the account became very low I noticed that there was a charge for $15 for that month, I called the bank and they said once the account became $5000 or less they would be charging a service charge of $15.00 . I was never told this so for the last few years they've been making a lot of money on my fathers money and they made me pay those charges until it was closed! If I had I known this I would have put the money in my bank key bank, They do not charge any monthly charges at all no matter what I have in the account!
