Still a big bank that doesn't always put average people first. But much better than most.

After 13+ years and three separate but equally frustrating issues with Member's 1st, I am DEEPLY…read moreregretting our time with y'all. I have spent no less than 14 HOURS trying to resolve what appear to be some VERY SIMPLE issues. And instead of someone taking ANY accountability and following up with me when they say they will, I am forced into a vicious cycle of starting over at the Customer Service level, having to explain some very complicated scenarios over and over and over again, only to have things escalate as far as the next supervisor who "notifies the e-commerce or IT department" and will "get back with me in 24-48 hours." This has been going on for a solid two YEARS. And, has the ability to effect both our finances and our credit. When I ask, in the moment, to just please transfer me to someone in IT, I've been flat out refuse, despite the fact that one of the issues has been ongoing for more than two years and our records should indicate the HOURS I've spent trying to rectify a situation that Members 1st doesn't seem to give a hootenanny about. I literally sat in one of your branches with Niki Zink, for THREE HOURS last month, trying to get things resolved. And left there with the same "waiting to hear back from our e-commerce/IT department," and "I'll call you in the next day or two." AND NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HER. I called the number on "Niki's" business card, two days ago. When the automated system asked if I had an extension for the person I wanted reach I said yes. Then, the automated system asks me for the name of the person I want to reach. Me, "Niki Zink." System: We have three people your search could match. Are you looking for ____________. Me: No System: Are you looking for _____________. Me: No. System: Are you looking for _____________. Me (screaming in my head: I HAVE AN EXTENSION!!!) Me to the system: No System: TRANSFERS ME BACK TO THE SAME CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO CANNOT HELP ME. I'm now forced YET AGAIN, to explain the EXTREMELY CONVOLUTED situations to a CS rep who PREDICTABLY CANNOT HELP. Who then transfers me to a Supervisor, who I AGAIN HAVE TO EXPLAIN A VERY CONVOLUTED scenario to, WHO ALSO CANNOT HELP ME. Who then tries to find "Niki Zink" in your system AND CAN'T because she is in their system as NICOLE. ‍‍‍‍‍ But her business card says Niki. But, I mean, WHY BOTHER PUTTING THINGS ON A BUSINESS CARD - like the name your company uses to locate you, OR YOUR EXTENSION when your automated systems ask if you have an extension AND THEN NEVER GIVE YOU THE OPTION TO INPUT SAID EXTENSION? You people are utterly ridiculous. So now, the Supervisor "finds" Niki, but not really, because she is gone for the day. But sends a messsge to the Branch Manager, Jimmy. Who is supposed to be free after 1PM. Jimmy calls and leaves me a message at 4:54PM saying that he will talk to Niki tomorrow (yesterday) and will find out where she's at with my inquiries, and one of them will get back to me. News flash: I know EXACTLY where Niki is (or isn't) with my inquiries. I heard nothing from Jimmy or Niki yesterday. I received a phone call this morning from Niki, clearly needing a refresher on the issues at hand. And guess what? She is "still waiting to hear from the e-commerce/IT department, from our conversation 3+ WEEKS ago! Shocker, I know. Two best parts: 1. One of the major issues that has caused such a TREMENDOUS problem is that Member's 1st ILLEGALLY granted me access, on my e-commerce login, to a Visa Card THAT DID NOT BELONG TO ME. AND, AFTER DISCOVERING THE PROBLEM, THEY NEVER REMOVED THAT ACCESS. FOR TWO YEARS. It wasn't until the Visa Account was closed that my access to it was also removed. Niki told me on the phone today, that it is a glitch in their system they are aware of. Um. WHAT? So, you're aware that the glitch exists - and have been for TWO YEARS. But, your customers' confidentiality and privacy just isn't too high on your priority list? Oh. Okay. 2. Me: Just so you know, I wasn't trying to circumvent you, when I called on Wednesday. (I went on to explain the stupidity of your automated maze.) Her: Oh. Yeah. I've had other customers complain about that. I shouldn't even be in their system as Nicole. My real name is Elizabeth. I just go by Niki. What the actual Member's 1st?!?!? HOW is this nightmare of a credit union "Harrisburg's Best?!?" Harrisburg! Raise. Your. Standards!! I'm writing up a very detailed report and sending it to the NCUA, the Attorney General's Office and the BBB, for good measure. In the time I've wasted trying to resolve your ILLEGAL ACTIVITY FOR YOU. I could have opened all EIGHT of our accounts elsewhere.

I want to share my unbelievable experience I had today. Just a little background!…read moreI opened a checking and savings account with People's Bank shortly have they built their new branch in South Hanover. I considered them a good bank to deal with all the years I had with them. Orrstown Bank merged with People's Bank recently. I didn't see or feel any trouble with the merger until I received a letter dated 04/11/2025 informing me my savings account is dormant. The letter continues on stating there will be a $12.00 a month dormancy fee starting with the next statement date. To avoid this I needed to visit a branch and make a transaction. Immediately I signed into my online account so I could find the statement date and balance. My savings account was completely removed from my online view. I went into the statement section to print a statement and to my shock, all the years I had my accounts those statements were gone. Like it never existed. I visited the South Hanover branch today to withdraw and close out both accounts. The gentleman that waited on me couldn't find my savings account on his computer screen. He had to call corporate to reactivate it in order to close it out. After telling me the balance. I couldn't believe it was less than I should of had. He then tells me there's a dormancy fee of $12.00 and a paper statement fee of $2.00 deducted. I asked him what my statement date is, it was 04/30/2025. Which means I had less than 15 days to avoid these fees. I always had electronic statements since opening the accounts so the paper fee was a fraud. I was fed a bunch of bull-crap about the banks merging and such. Needless to say, I left with my money minus the "free money" the bank stole. My most important question is "Why wasn't I notified before my savings account went dormant? I access the online portal regularly so the bank knows the accounts were not abandon. Please be careful with this bank. I did read some negative comments about the Orrstown Bank name and that many people didn't want to see this merger happen. Now I can see why. Orrstown Bank is not a good bank to keep your hard earned money in. Look elsewhere!!!

When she went in to Country Meadows all her bank accounts were condensed into one account and it wasn't Peoples Bank. She did have an Annuity for the 5 grandchildren and 2 minor great-grandchildren that was in Peoples bank and carried over into Orrstown Bank. The Annuity was upgraded to Mass Mutual for a better interest rate. Less than a year my mother passed away from when the Annuity was changed. Shortly after her death I notified the Financial Advisor that I worked with and told her Mom passed away. The Advisor notified Mass Mutual and paperwork was sent out to all the children to fill out to receive their gift. The paperwork was sent in and it was returned stating that no funds will be given until the 2 minor great grandchildren have a court appointed guardian established before they will distribute any of the funds. We hired a lawyer to take care of it and found out that in PA if it's less than $25000 each you don't need the appointed guardian. Paperwork was sent in and we waited weeks and didn't hear anything. I called the Financial Advisor again with Orrstown and asked if she could help move the process along. She said she can't do to much but she will call them. She returned my call and said Mass Mutual is still going to require a court appointed guardian for the 2 minors and paperwork is being sent out. We are still waiting. I am so tired of the lies that we've been told and the incompetence of these two businesses. I will never set foot into Orrstown Bank or work with any of their Financial Advisors. As for Mass Mutual, that money is not yours, my mother worked hard for that money to give to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and it is criminal what you are doing. Mom died November 5, 2024 and we are still waiting to get this resolved. It is ridiculous!

If I Could Give Zero Stars, I Would: Orrstown Bank Charges…read moreAbsurd Fees and Treats Loyal Customers Like Trash. Since merging with Codorus Valley Bancorp (PeoplesBank) in July of 2024, Orrstown has lost every trace of its hometown values, what used to feel like a community bank now acts like a cold, profit-hungry corporation. Someone I know personally--who has been a loyal Orrstown Bank customer for over seven years with zero prior issues was recently slammed with $150 in charges for simply transferring money from a savings account to a checking account. That's $10 per transfer, all taken at once, without any warning, alert, or notice. Just gone. This wasn't reckless spending--this was money being moved to cover rent and other monthly expenses. And instead of acting with integrity, Orrstown chose to quietly drain the account. Their website claims they offer "the best value" and "strive to keep service fees low." That's false. These kinds of outdated, predatory policies don't reflect a bank that values people, they reflect one that profits from quietly punishing customers for using their accounts. The worst part? When the customer tried to resolve the issue, one branch acknowledged the possibility of a refund based on the account's perfect history--but said the request had to go through their home branch. Enter the New Holland, PA branch manager, who was not only completely dismissive, but actually refused to give his name, saying, "I won't tell you my name again because you're going to slander me online." That kind of behavior is beyond unprofessional--it's cowardly. It's what happens when a manager knows they're doing wrong and doesn't want to be held accountable. Let's be clear: this bank took $150 from a loyal customer with zero notice and refused to make it right. The attitude, the policy, and the refusal to offer even basic decency all point to a bank that does not care about the people who trust it. Orrstown Bank: you need to fix this. Reverse the fees. Hold your staff accountable. And if you're serious about customer service, stop letting managers act like gatekeepers instead of problem-solvers. To anyone considering Orrstown: don't do it. There are better banks out there, banks that won't treat you like a nuisance for asking to access your own money.

They've rolled out the ugliest looking platform for at-home banking that has replaced old reliable. Mortgage, car loans, savings, checking - all excellent. Their new Founder's card is 1.5% cash back. As for their online presence, it is EXCEPTIONAL compared to any other bank I've worked with either directly or while assisting others. And they've been exceptional for the past ten years, and continue to add services (for free, mind you, not "pay us to use this new feature") over the years. I can use ANY ATM fee free, because they reimburse me for ATM fees at places that do charge (up to $4 or $6/mo - and granted, I don't use an ATM all that often). I generally don't post reviews like this, but I can't leave a single review with 1 star alone for a business that means so much to my daily life- so here you go. PSECU is awesome. I'm sorry the other guy didn't have a good experience. Although I can't, off hand, imagine why someone would base their business in Texas on a Credit Union based in PA, which is open to Pennsylvania State Employees and their families. Yes, if *I* were to move to Texas, California, etc. I would certainly still use PSECU, but it seems odd that someone would make that choice initially (or, if they had a personal account and were dissatisfied, why they would make that choice for their business).
