Overall the stall has large selection of stock including cages, toys, treats, food and of course animals. I had visited once before and if memory serves they had kittens for sale but sadly they weren't there this time. There was however an array of birds which were sat about chirping and my friend was able to get some nutty seedy type things for the Hamster which weren't that bad for value. This shop can be easily located on the balcony in the market so there should be no problem in finding it if you find yourself in need of straw and sawdust.

Reptile Cymru is a small exotic reptile store in Canton specialising in everything from corn snakes and geckos to bearded dragons and royal pythons. They also are one of the few UK breeders of African Pygmy Hedgehogs - I didn't see any when I was in the store, so you'll have to enquire, if you're interested. Oh, and Reptile Cymru also carry tarantulas, but I only glanced in their direction because the sight of spiders makes my stomach flip. This shop also stocks the entire reptile kit, as well as food like crickets, locusts, mealworms, even mice, rats and chicks (you haven't lived if you've never seen a python swallow a mouse - it's like having the Discovery Channel live in your mate's living room!). The shop assistant was very knowledgeable and willing to indulge me in a conversation about terrapins, my new pet of choice after my dreams of owning a ferret were destroyed by my landlord's strict pet regulations (boo).

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time here, the man got his Star Wars books out to show my boyfriend and we all had a chat about tv shows. We will definitely be back to get more fish soon.

The knowledgeable gentleman at Aquatic House kindly explained to me that it would cost around £160 to get my new pet all kitted out, which has sort of put me off, but I admit this seems like a reasonable rate (however, it makes me yearn for an outdoor pond that my £15 terrapin could call home) If you're not a reptile enthusiast, Aquatic House has every marine and tropical fish you can imagine, even those cute little ones that look like Nemo (clown fish, I think?). Aside from potential pets, this shop carries a wide variety of Juwel aquariums and pond supplies, as well.

I went in with someone to buy a new tank system because they always had a very dirty looking, foggy fish tank that I fear would have killed the poor things if they didn't sort it. Price wise they are apparently the best in Cardiff and the staff are very knowledgeable. They also have some hideous looking reptiles that gave me nightmares!

I have ordered the dovecote to be delivered outside of UK and Ricky Wilson (the owner of Welsh Dovecotes) agreed to send it to me. My money were taken from my credit card, but the dovecote was never delivered to me. I have asked for the refund, but Ricky kept sending me e-mails telling that there were some problems with couriers, then there were problems with his relatives and so on, spinning the tale just until the time it was too late for me to ask for the chargeback from the credit card company. Now Ricky does not answer any of my e-mails. Please be aware that if your item from WelshDovecotes.co.uk takes too long to arrive, cancel the transaction asap and ask PayPal/credit card for chargeback immediately. Do not let Ricky Wilson dupe you.
