My daughter has only…read morebeen here 2 months and has learned more in that short time than the 2 1/2 years we spent at the Met. As a former dance teacher myself, I couldn't dream of a better place for my child to dance. The Lab is spacious, clean, and bright. Both of the studios have viewing windows, so parents can observe their child's classes. There are even 2 locker rooms for changes between classes. When I first saw the schedule, I thought the classes were long in duration for the 6-8 year olds. I was wrong, the teachers are so amazing that they keep them engaged for 90 minute ballet lessons! The classes are longer than most that you will find in the area, because of the individual attention they give to each student. I can't say enough about the instructors. I have had a pleasure to observe all of them. They are all professional, and have great choreography. The best thing is that they all make great corrections to technique and posture in a positive manner. They do not lazily overlook things that can lead to injury. Also, the most important is their is no favoritism. Everyone gets the same amount of love and attention. From talking to other parents in the studio, my daughter isn't the only one practicing everywhere we go (even the grocery store). Most importantly, all of the girls beg to come to The Houston Dance Lab, every day of the week. As if 5 hours a week isn't enough. All in all, he instruction tops the charts and the Lab is a HAPPY place. We love it here, and are so excited to watch the Lab grow.

It really didn't take too long before we could get some basic steps down and tried incorporating some interesting turns into our routine, and she was very patient in making sure both of us had a firm grasp before moving onto the next level. Our wedding dance had some interesting turns, spins, and steps with a big finish incorporated into it. The stress and anxiety of it all leading up to "The Big Day" didn't help, and at one point my hubby took a wrong step, but was able to correct it flawlessly without anyone noticing--all thanks to her! Each appointment is 45 minutes. EXACTLY 45 minutes. If she says be there at 5:30pm, you better not knock on that door at 5:29pm (and steal a minute from the previous couple) or at 5:31pm because you already cut into your time slot. Of course, you can double book. That said, she is very professional and methodical in her guidance, and seems to live and breath the art of dance!

Rebecca was very quick at responding to our emails and is really informative in each email she sends you. There is a 5 class wedding package that worked perfectly for us. A few months before the wedding, we weren't sure if we wanted to spend extra money on taking dance lessons for the wedding, but as the date was getting closer, we were feeling the pressure of putting together something, so we decided to check out yelp and came across The Dance Whisperer. We felt the price was reasonable, and I had confidence based on reviews that Rebecca would be able to help us from looking ridiculous during our first dance and sure enough she made us look amazing! Everyone raved about how great we were and even my mom said our first dance was so amazing and my mom RARELY compliments anyone or anything. We scheduled our five sessions after our first class to make sure we could get in the books before the wedding and that was not a problem since Rebecca had perfect times for us in the evenings after work. Rebecca is so personable and even though we have only met her 5 times, we felt very comfortable with her in each class which was kind of frightening in the beginning because we were both inexperienced with dancing, but she started off with basic steps to boost our confidence and gave us a little preview of what to expect for the next class as a bit of homework to practice at home. Thank you Rebecca for your help!!

As other…read morereviewers have commented, the classes are very supportive and break the moves into manageable steps. The instructors are all very encouraging, and thanks to the small class sizes, we get lots of individualized feedback every session! We enjoyed our weekly dance date night so much, we signed up for the Pre-Intermediate classes after finishing the Beginner class. Also, about half our classmates came without a partner, and that was no problem. They did a great job pairing people and had backup instructors if there was an odd number of people. It really is a great price for such a small, supportive instructor to student ratio. We highly, highly recommend!!

We enjoyed it SO MUCH that we actually did another 2 months of group classes (Pre-Intermediate) and then did 3 private lessons with Demetra for our first dance! The group lessons were a lot of fun and non-threatening. Gloria made it very easy by showing you a basic move and having the whole class repeat the same move multiple times. Over the weeks, she will add more steps to the one you learned the previous week. We rarely practiced when we got home, but when we went back the following week and did a refresher at the beginning of the class.. it was like riding a bike! It really is a great value- $50 for 4 classes a month and you get to learn all sorts of styles of ballroom dancing (waltz, foxtrot, tango, cha cha, rumba, and jitterbug). I also liked that the classes were in the evening (7 or 8pm depending on your skill set) which made it easy since traffic is mostly gone by then. They also have a large parking lot so no need to worry about parking. For our private lessons, we had Demetra and she was such a sweetheart! We gave her our first dance selection prior to meeting and when we had our first lesson, she already had the styles (cha cha and jitterbug) chosen and taught us the essentials like the dance entrance and dip at the end. She was very patient with us and would show us steps multiple times until we were comfortable with it. She also taught us exercises to do at home that helped us with hip movements for the cha cha. We learned so much from her and we had so many compliments on our first dance and how great we looked. She truly made our big day extra special!

I like the stair masters because they are all working. However, they are lined up in front of a beautiful picturesque window. While stepping on the machine, I see the top of the windows. The worse part of exercise in front of a TV, my face is less than 3 feet from the TV monitor. What the hell? I don't want to get a tan while working on my legs. It's hot as is. The gym was closed from September 30th to October 19th, 2025. When it opened on October 20th, there were not many people for about a week. Now, it's very crowded. I had been going to the Dairy Ashford location and the park for my daily exercise during this time. Because it's a 24 hour gym, it doesn't mean it's a bus station or travel center for everyone to take shower and sleep here at night. I noticed a man on his wheelchair always parked next to the first row of treadmills. OMG. I had to walk around the mirror pillar to pass that point with incoming traffic. Sometimes, other spaces are taken because they put too many machines between the pillars. Management, it's either ask the man to sleep somewhere else, go home or remove one treadmill. He is there every night I workout after 11 pm. Not sure if he lives there or waiting for his ride to finish working out or whatever excuse it is. I wasn't too concerned at first. But it's getting annoyed. I have seen other homeless people visiting the gym before. They don't bother other people but their stink cause a lot of anxiety in the locker room. Well... rant over.

Send your kids there to learn from instructors who has a passion for dance and teaching. ===================================================== My review of the original Mitsi Dancing School: LOVE LOVE LOVE...Love the school. Love the teachers. Love all the memories I shared here. I'll fully disclaim my bias - I grew up in this dance school. However, being biased doesn't mean I'm wrong. Mitsi Shen is one amazing woman and dance instructor. She's dedicated decades to passing on her passion and technique in dance (ballet and Chinese dance). She hires very well trained teachers and shows extreme professionalism and patience to groom each student that has a heart to learn. It was like a family there. I made life long friends in my 13 years at the dance school and went from being a fidgeting tomboy to loving the art of dance. To the moms concerned with repetition, I'd say that dance training (similar to other trainings) involves a lot of repetition. Your princess might be doing chases and plies until she's 5 (and thereafter I'm sure). But she will improve each year and eventually she'll have strong muscles from the repetitions and move on to leaps and turns. Ballet is a great foundation for other styles! You can't go wrong sending your kids here! ...And it is my humble opinion that all little girls should dance! =D

The Palladium is located on a one-way freeway frontage road, so you can't make a U-turn to get there if you pass it up. But it's not one to avoid. The Palladium is not a franchise of a nationwide company named after Arthur Murray or Fred Astaire. It's a local concern, and doesn't offer as much as the other two studios I listed. I've gone to their Latin events, and here's what it looks like: They have in-house instructors, and also bring in people from outside Houston. (I wrote about California's Kathy Reyes in two prior reviews, I hope she's reading this and makes the trip to Houston some time!) They have classes, and they have dance parties. Both are run well, charging market rates. Lots of parking. One medium-sized dance floor, two smaller studios. The bar sells drinks, both alky and non-alky. Restrooms are deep in the bowels of the building, down the hall to the left. The people who come are a good company, and are fixinta learn to dance better and to have fun. The social dance community of Houston is smaller than in other cities, so there's much overlap from one instructor to another, and it's likely that you'll meet someone there who you danced with somewhere else. I haven't met any snobs yet, but you can't assume that they won't be there. I first went to the Palladium for New Years Eve. I've been several times since then. The experience was similar to others I've been to in other cities. I've had a good time, and never drove home thinking "well, that was a waste of a hundred mile drive one-way." Beaumont simply has nothing like The Palladium, likely because few people in the Coonie Triangle are interested in ballroom or Latin dancing. I encourage you to find a class or party and stop on by.
