They even gave us later checkout which was awesome, there's nothing better than a sleep in!! The Milton is a combination Serviced Apartment Hotel and Apartment building. It seems to be a good…read moreoption for short stays, based on what I've heard. As a resident, the Milton has some very strong advantages, as well as some real and frustrating downsides. The location, built into the train station, offers easy and fast access to the city two short stops away, and several shopping centres only a few stops in the opposite direction. The station also is a bit noisy, but nothing too loud on most nights from the upper floors. The apartments are pricy, but within what seems to be expected in the suburb. The building has several common areas, a pool, two barbecues, and a rooftop lounge (though access to it has been limited, now requiring a $1,000 deposit--greatly reducing it's utility). Units themselves are relatively spacious (Quite so, if renting as a hotel room), have electric cooktops, convection ovens, and microwaves. What stands out about most is that the views from the apartments are amazing, especially looking over the Brisbane river and hills during sunset. The building management does not seem to be as resident/customer oriented as I would hope. The building includes several amenities, but they have gone unmaintained for an extended period of time. The Spa has been broken for going on three months. The mini-gym has a weight machine with leg pads needing replacement and that are falling off, and misaligned bench. Residents were promised a locking bike storage area, then were locked out of it, so it now sits unused; recently a letter warned against carrying bikes up to our appartments was also circulated. This would be an amazing place to live or stay if the management was focused on maintaining the building and providing access to it's amenities. Over the past several months, many of the outstanding features have been left to disrepair or taken back from residents, making tenancy less enjoyable.

Lara and Lawrence Faliu were excellent property managers, and made my experience living at Vida extremely pleasant. They were consistently easy and pleasant to communicate with. In addition, they were efficient in sorting problems that arose (mostly due to the poor construction materials used in the initial building process). They were also timely in completing all repairs. Lara and Lawrence (along with their team members, including Douglas and Alex, whom I interacted with most), are on site five days a week, and know the building inside and out. In the two years that I lived there, I consistently felt taken care of. This all said, my landlord (a foreign investor) chose to change management companies two months prior to my lease termination (to a company called "Image Property"). The latter experience was simply awful. Not only did Image ignore all of my repair requests, but they also billed me for repair work that they knew nothing about (eg., repairs that took place well before they managed my lease). Finally, although I left my apartment in perfect condition, they are taking legal action to keep my bond. If I can offer any concluding advice, it is to rent here, contingent on ensuring that you are managed by Lara and Lawrence Faliu (e.g., Pointcorp). They are excellent property managers, and companies like Image will make your life stressful. The building is beautiful, however, and the units are lovely. Best of luck in your search!

I just started watching a great show on a streaming service called "A Series of Unfortunate…read moreEvents". The title of this series is an apt description of service from Mint Residential. There isn't a happy beginning, I don't expect a pleasant ending, and there sure as heck haven't been many helpful interactions in between. This is a very depressing story of "lost" rent payments, clerical errors, and tepid spa water. In setting up our lease with Mint, the experience wasn't bad, but responses were slow, and it seemed to be a rather protracted process getting all of the appropriate application forms from the office. This, on it's own, isn't a reason to avoid a property agent. A few delays are to be expected, and I know that I'm not the only person applying for a lease. Everything seemed nice when I was shown the property--not too rushed, and we got to see all of the amenities that were included in the property. The agent even took the time to point out how it had an included hot tub and BBQ on the patio level, locking bike storage, and a small gym. These details may not matter at other apartments, but allow me to explain why they matter, in regards to Mint service. Several months into an otherwise uneventful and enjoyable tenancy, the situation started to change. The building management decided to revoke access to the popular bike storage area, leaving it locked and unused to this day. Then the equipment in the gym started to have parts wear out or come loose, with no upkeep. The hot tub broke over three months ago, and the BBQ area stopped receiving through cleanings and is slimed with grease. Work orders have gone unanswered, and on calls, no followup has been made by Mint. This pattern stretches far further, well beyond work orders. Several of my payments have not been recorded on my apartment ledger (a battle to get, in of itself). When I provided the requested bank statements confirming the payment, Mint acknowledged they were complete and correct over the phone, then failed to make the needed corrections to the ledger. They recently sent me a copy with more recent payments, stating that it was correct, and challenging me to "prove it" if it was not. I found this to be rather impolite wording, especially after sending documentation no less than three times, and receiving prior acknowledgement from them. After forgetting our (unwise) acceptance of an offer to extend our tenancy, they sent us a move-out checklist. Although we cleared up that we were not moving out yet, it was hard to escape the fact that they seem to be demanding hundreds of dollars of specialized professional cleaning *beyond what is already mandated in our lease*. I'm sure that this will be another problem created by Mint that I will have to address when I move. Beware. If you do deal with Mint, document your transactions and conversations meticulously, and be sure to save every eMail.

You could definitely have a BBQ and easily fit 20+ outside alone. The living room was big and the bedroom was a decent size. There were also 1.5 bath, laundry room, and decent kitchen. The layout was pretty open. Great location. Walkable to the City, Riverside, or the Valley. It's secure as well with a carpark.

There are 5 types of unit: Studio unit 1 bedroom unit 1 bedroom (double) unit 2 bedroom unit 3 bedroom unit Each bedroom has its own ensure which is very nice so you don't need to share bathroom with stranger. Also if you like quiet place to study you can choose unit with less rooms. You can also request to the management who you want to be put in the unit if you have no friends to live together. For example, request to get housemate who is also studying postgraduate or who comes from the same country. The management office is located in the building one. What's good with that, if you have any enquiries or something needs to be fixed in your unit you can just walk in to the office and tell them about that. One downside about renting in this apartment is that the bills (gas and electricity) comes every 3 months from the management. So we don't get it straight from the gas/electricity company. The management charge 10% for the admin which I think too much. Also we could not see the real bills so we don't know whether the bills which they sent us are real numbers from the bills from the company. Which is bad thing because the management may be able to put more numbers total bills than its supposed to be since we don't know it. So if you like transparency you may not like how they do bills here. Another good thing is the location. It is located right opposite taringa station, that makes it so convenient since train can bring you everywhere you want. Also located between toowong village and indoropillilly shopping centre. Easy to do groceries and other general shopping. It takes 15 minutes by train to the city. Pretty good! Good connection to universities, Uq, Griffith and QUt. I've found that Altitude is the cheapest with the quality among all other student accommodation like unilodge and urbanest.
