The fact that there's no front wall means that on those rare occasions when someone is below you, they can see you if you are right by the edge. But you only have to back up a few feet and you're hidden. And it's definitely worth it for the effect of being so close to the ocean. They provide snorkeling gear, and you can step into the water from just a few feet from your door. And the tiny inlet right there had tons of cool fish! I could have snorkeled all day! There's also a very small beach nearby. Otherwise, you're a pretty decent walk from town and the main beach. It was off-putting the first night we went to dinner, but Yelapa is so beautiful (and there's no hurry to do things) that we came to appreciate the nice walk to and from town. And you can't really snorkel at the main beach anyway! A couple little issues: the bed was extremely hard. We both like firm beds, but this was just too much and neither of us got a good night's sleep. There were two beds and we actually only tried one because it was in a better location (the other was right by the door and would get the blazing morning sun). But it's possible the other bed was softer, though it looked the same. The other little issue was that there wasn't really anyplace to put your clothes and bags. We didn't have much, but we ended up just keeping it on the other bed. They rented out kayaks for something like 10 pesos. When you're charging someone $100/night, you ought to just throw in the kayaks for free! But it wasn't a big deal and it was very convenient to be able to kayak from right out your door. I'd stay there again, though I'd like to try to plan a family trip and stay in the penthouse with 6 or more of us.

They include ground transportation and that's a worry free deal Airport tip: when exiting the airport you are going to inundated with people trying to get you to take their ride OR sell you an excursion - take the free tequila and move on. As for the resort - amazing. 1st class. During check in, more tequila in the form of a good margarita. Or dos. So on to the room. We booked a studio room. Tip - small and no view but the cheapest. When we checked in, we upgraded to a jr suite (not sure if that's what it is called) and by upgrading at the front desk, about 1/2 the cost if we had booked that room originally. It's a gamble as they maybe booked up, it worked for us as off-peak. Additionally, we did all inclusive. This room was great. Separate bedroom. Large living room. Good view of resort and decent of. Each. Higher up the better. Well stocked kitchen. Firm but comfy bed. Nice bathroom, but small if two are trying to get ready. Nice balcony view. And cold A/C. The food. Two restaurants. One inside and more formal - dress code and reservations (at night). And one beachside. They call it a steak house but steakhouse it is not. Much more diverse menu. Buffet. Salad and fruit bar. Lots of options. Breakfast is great. Open all day. Ice cream bar as well. We never ate at the formal restaurant- just don't fit the schedule of our timing or vibe. Only heard good things. The pools. One smaller that is for adults only. One in the middle that's a kiddie pool. And the big one that's for everyone. Swim up bar is nice. The adult only and large one for everyone is connected via a walking "lazy river". Pool side service for food and drinks. Lots of sitting area. Additional, there is a row of lounge chairs that face the ocean. Very relaxing. On the beach, there are numerous cabañas with chairs and lounge chairs. No reservations needed. The wedding was awesome on a pier that shoots out over the water. It was as my wife called it, "very traditional Hispanic wedding". Service was over and above. Top notch. Room service was quick when needed. The only negative to the resort was the lack of an indoor bar. You can get drinks in the lobby, but no bar. Odd. Not a lot else to say. Definitely one of the nicer ones. Considering the price point, I don't think a lot of spring breakers will be here. Not a lot of late night partying from what we saw and we were there Wed-Mon. A lot more snow birds than young'ens. We had a great time. You should to.

My 5 and 6 year olds were with me and they love the big pool because they like jumping in the water. Service was good; very nice staff although the restaurant closest to lobby, there was a staff who I didn't like his attitude because I'd ask other staff members for help and he's like I'm your server, you ask me but it's like dude, I couldn't find you. If I need service now and if there's a staff, then I'll ask right there and right now. But obviously, I want a drama free vacay and I'm like ok? Two restaurants in the resort, but they always have different menus. Different activities each day. Different guests, usually towards Friday and weekend, it's younger. A lot of elderly people, like 40% and family oriented is like another 40% and just couples is like 20% and these couples, I don't really see because they'd be hitching a ride downtown to go out to eat and stay out at night. Uber ride works, about $5-10usd to go downtown. It was a relaxing trip where I woke up with kids, don't need to worry about cooking and cleaning, just get ready to eat, put them in kids club, then they'd come back with mask, backpack from their win on a game, decorative things and drawings. Housekeeping was 2x/day and it usually happens afternoon at 3ish and later in the evening at 7ish. I just loved watching the sunsets everyday around 7pm because I had the time to do that.

You can close the door to the main area as to not disturb anyone in the living room. While they say this room is large enough for 5 people, you can fit a 6th person on the 3rd couch. The kitchen had all the utensils, silverware, dinnerware, etc you could ever need to cook inside your condo. The beach was always clean and the water was so warm and the waves weren't strong except during high tide. Every single staff member we encountered were so welcoming and always smiled while greeting us. The mall is across the street and you could buy all your food at Soriana. Downtown is only 2.5 miles away so we walked back after a city tour.

The earlier the better because reservations fill up fast. If you don't have a reservation, you can always try and walk up to see if there's availability. There's two rooftop bars, one is perfect for the sunset, the other is where the late night drinking happens. - Be sure to tip out the servers and the bartenders. The staff works so hard to make sure everyone is taken care of and the drinks constantly flowing. - Going into the Zona Romantica is about a 15-20 minute uber/cab ride. Uber was the way to go, as it cost about 70-80 pesos ($4-5) to get into town. If you plan on going into town a ton - Very close to the airport, a cab to the airport cost around 175 pesos. The food was definitely not a highlight for me, but for the price of the all inclusive, it served its purpose. Honestly, most of the food with exception for the pool side eatery, the Mexican and French dinner spots. Other than that, the food was pretty forgettable and sometimes not very edible. The Seafire buffet, that's a major pass for me. You'll find much better tasting food going into town. The alcohol selection is alright. They don't have menus, so I was basically ordering rum and cokes and mixed drinks I saw other people order. They ran out of mezcal while I was there and saw some mixing of bottles, but honestly after awhile, it all starts to taste the same Overall, I was very happy with my stay here because of all the amazing people I got to meet while I was here. Hanging out by the pool, relaxing by the beach was all I needed and the Hacienda at the Hilton was a good time. We started off with a lower tier jr suite, and ended up asking for an upgrade for a room with the pool. However in the transition to the room we found our new upgraded room with dirt on the floor, wet water peddle, and debrief and foot mark on chairs. It is quite concerning for a resort, especially marked as Hilton. The upgrade was extremely disappointing as our bedding and pillows all smells like moldy laundry and or other smell, and the shower floor was dirty as well. The waiters are all extremely nice, however the food at restaurants does come extremely slow. Besides from the people being nice, I really am disappointed at my stay. None of the rooms we stayed in had hot water, the water was either room temp cold or freezing cold, meanwhile the air conditioning lowest can be turned to is 65 however the room stays at a 75 at all times which makes it hotter. It is a good price for a all inclusive but I'm not quite sure if you're someone who hopes every duck will be in a row -- you'll enjoy it as much as someone who just says fuck it. But it is 5 minutes only away from the airport. So with all the travel risk, it's honestly not that bad for a new country riding transportation in a country that you don't speak the language in.
