The Clatford Arms has now become a great village pub. They serve really tasty meals typical pub…read moremenu (fish and chips, steak, curry, Chilli CC, gammon, burget etc) but cooked excellently. The food is also amazingly good value. A sunday roast with pudding and starter and a drink and coffee for two people came to only £40. On another occasion a two course meal and two drinks for four people only came to £58. They have a restaurant area and bar eating area. The staff are really friendly. The only quibble is that service can be a bit slow perhaps because they have more customers than expected due to popularity. If you go along for a relaxed evening without wanting to rush then you'll have a very satisfactory meal.

Luckily Hattie Bells has a convenient real-time display inside listing the train arrival and departure times! We enjoyed a few pints and the weather. This seems like a great local pub, dog-friendly and friendly patrons. Locals stopped by to write, share a meal, and grab a drink. A somewhat rude tourist popped in from the train station and the service staff handled his temper tantrum (not aimed at them, but inappropriately voiced to them) like a pro. Fair prices, cozy atmosphere, some nice outdoor space that is covered where a few folks enjoyed a pipe or cigar.

The venue is made up out of quite a few large rooms, dance floors, bar areas, and smoking terraces. The place is simply huge. After a few drinks you'd best be prepared for inevitably losing track of where all of your friends are, because if someone gets lost it's a miracle if they manage to rejoin the group. My experience of this place is pretty clouded to be honest. The drinks were so cheap on the Wednesday night I just totally lost track. I remember falling off of a bar stool. Drinking more. Losing everyone in my group. Drinking more. Doing The Worm (or trying to). Drinking more. And that's when my memory blanks out and I wake up the next morning feeling like death warmed up. What more can you possibly want from a night club?! Cheap drinks, great venue, huge array of rooms, plenty of smoking terraces, the list goes on. Of course, the club is defined by the night. Which is why I won't call it "the best"... but at the very least, it's great.

Where hotshots used to be is the bar quarter and this is proabably the nicest part. The bar quarter is a few bars seperated by walls but each one has a different vibe, some with large sofas and beds to lay on. The main part of bar quarter is a big bar surrounded by booths which you can hire for a birthday celebration but i have heard they are not cheap. The main Oceana area is much the same just with a few doors moved and a paint job to alter the layout. Unfortunatly it is the same kind of people going there who went when it was Ikon Diva and this can cause a bad atmosphere and the door staff seem obliviously to this. They can also be quite rude. Drinks are expensive with my firend paying £6 for a double vodka red bull! I personally give this place a miss unless it is a friends birthday and they want to go.

Although, it's not the place for giants as there are low ceilings or if you're not good stairs as it's a bit like the Burrow from Harry Potter. The upstairs rooms on the top floor are deluxe double beds, with an ensuite, a large old fashioned bathtub, tv and complimentary tea and coffee. If you prefer a shower, the rooms located in the courtyard near the pub are the one for you. Make sure to take advantage of the barn style pub and restaurant, which serve up good quality seasonal food at reasonably prices if you're not after the usual pub grub. I enjoyed a classic beef burger which hit the spot and the tasting plate, accompanied by local beer and cider. For breakfast, there is proper cafe quality coffee and tea is by UK brand teapigs. There is a range of hot and continental options. I had the eggs royale, which exceeded my expectation of hotel breakfasts. After researching and sussing out a few places to stay, this one seemed the best, a real small town gem. I'll definitely be back!

The dining area is on two levels above the street level. The service is very friendly and prompt. Food is imaginative, delicious, but somewhat lacking in the oomph factor. The sautéed livers with pancetta on brioche was the winner among the appetisers. The server informed us that they were out of salmon and goats cheese, so two of the five appetisers were unavailable. The lamb with the neck croquette was well cooked, flavoured, but somehow didn't hit the spot. The rump was a tad dry. Probably just the wrong day. Well done on the dessert. Both the date pudding (they ran out of figs which were an addition to this one) and the ginger cheesecake, were very done. Great place to stop by if you're in the Mendip area.

This last visit, I ordered whitebait followed by steak and chips. Absolutely fabulous! The beer choices here are good with a number of different types of beer on tap. They do know how to make a tasty cappuccino as well. Parking shouldn't be a problem. If you are a tourist and not used to English country lanes, getting here might be a real challenge. Maybe you should take the bus or a taxi from Salisbury. Every time I've come here for lunch I've had a spectacular meal.

A wonderful welcome from young man at the bar. Excellent menu and wine. As usual we couldn't face a large meal at lunchtime but we were tempted by their homemade pork pies and thrice-cooked chips. Ideal for a lunch or early dinner before/after a visit to Salisbury Cathedral, the town's signature tourist attraction. It's also just a 7-8 minute walk from/to the train station (en route to/from the cathedral). It almost looks like a pub in the countryside, thanks to the the extensive lawn/garden in front of the building, which includes a nice outside seating area. The pub inside is both large and attractively designed. The people who created this made extensive use of the original building. The menu resembles that of a JD Wetherspoon pub, minus the club deals. The food is a little pricier (and I do mean: a little) - but, in my case (mixed grill), also a bit tastier than the one you'll get at your average Spoon. There is a large bar, also reminiscent of JDW, at the heart of the building with its two floors. As usual, the whole range of alcoholica were available, though some beers were sold out. The staff were friendly, if not always competent (the question whether the mixed grill, like the steaks, was also entitled to the UKP1 for a pint of beer upgrade, caused a bit of a kerfuffle. It was decided that only steak dishes can be coupled with UKP1 beers, but since those included only Carling and Fosters, I wasn't too unhappy ("I cannot be caught drinking a Fosters" was my precise comment). The food arrived after about 15 minutes, everything was well prepared, the steak, chicken breast and gammon of good quality. Because of the earlier discussion they offered me an extra egg e.g. for my grill, but it was filling without it already. Too bad they forgot the sausage with the mixed grill though. I would recommend this pub to visitors of Salisbury for its pleasant location and decor, and its very decent food at competitive prices.

It was fairly busy at the time so I guess it's a popular haunt, it certainly has the feel of a proper local. We didn't stop for lunch, just a refreshing pint and some crisps, but the menu looked like typical pub grub with a few specials on the board. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming, downsides included a telly showing Cash in the Attic or some such tosh, and grotty loos, but overall it's a good stop off for a beer and a wee!
