City of Clovis Public Utilities Department I called in about replacing my Recycling Bin and spoke with a very nice woman named Lisa. She was very helpful and the customer service was great! I didn't have to wait a long time before she answered, I had tried early for another number for City and was on line for over twenty min. I finally hung up and called this number. Clovis is an awesome place to live. Especially for those thinking about leaving the Bay Area. Clovis is very safe, and their schools are top notch. A lot of blue ribbon schools and not just individual high schools--but also the school district itself is often nationally ranked. It's also more affordable to live here than the bay area. Clovis is well known to be THE affluent suburb in the central california region. However, unlike other affluent suburbs in other regions, Clovis itself doesn't have much within their borders. The only thing with living in Clovis is you still rely on a lot of Fresno's amenities. Clovis has a mall--Sierra Vista Mall, but its a dead mall. The only legit mall(s)/shopping areas are in Fresno: Fashion Fair, River Park, Fig Garden Village. Whole foods and Trader Joes I believe are all in fresno borders. A lot of the restaurants also will be in Fresno. I've come to realize many who live in Clovis take pride to say they aren't from Fresno, when they basically are an extension of Fresno--I mean Clovis IS in Fresno County. With Fresno's bad reputation through the decades and along with it's bad stigma, living in Clovis is like having your cake and eat it too. I have met many who purposely make sure they are in Clovis to have a clovis address instead of a Fresno one, despite living in one of the richest zip codes in Fresno--93730. Clovis itself leans much more red and is clearly more conservative. The demographics are a lot less diverse--mostly all white. But don't think all of Clovis is great. Really the best parts are Loma Vista, Harlan Ranch, and the rest of North Clovis. Central area of clovis along old town, or where it borderes SE Fresno and tarpey village isn't all that great--but not to say they are bad. It's basically the area where the income levels of those in Clovis live. The infrastructure to get to Clovis sucks. 99 is the main thoroughfare to Fresno, but to get to many parts of Clovis will have you taking inefficient ways if you take the main highways of 180, 168, and 41. If you want a direct way youll have to hop off the freeway and take the streets hitting tons of lights. The best place IMO of clovis is North Clovis or harlan ranch because the surrounding borders are actually some of the best places of Fresno (IE 93720 and 93730 bordering north clovis). As long as Fresno is right next door and has all the amenities, then Clovis is really a nice place to live and start a family. You can't get away from the usual Central Valley issues though such as bad air quality, low paying jobs, the heat, to name a few. But most who live in Clovis are those with haves and not have nots. It's common to build or have a pool as the climate just asks for it. read more

I called the City of Clovis Utilities to let them know I needed my recycling bin replaced. Their phone representative told me Clovis Utilities could replace it, but he couldn't give me a specific date of when they would deliver the new bin. The Clovis utility representative told me it would be delivered within a ten day window and that I should leave the bin on the street for those 10 days and that someone one would come to replace it. I explained that our HOA forbids leaving bins on the street overnight and that I would be fined for doing so. He said there was nothing he could do and that giving me a specific date of delivery would be impossible. What astonishes me is how INEFFICIENT the Clovis Utility is being run. Whoever is heading up this department should be fired. Homeowners can't even get a simple delivery date? I was told to put the damaged bin out every morning at 6 am for the next ten days. And that if they didn't come to pick it up during the day, that I should put the damaged bin away at night. What???!! The department head should be held accountable for this INEFFICIENCY!! Time is money. Citizens of Clovis, let's bring our concerns to the City Council. Let's see if we can improve Utility service for the tax payers of Clovis. We deserve better service for our dollar. read more

The staff is very friendly, the lady's that helped me went out of there way to get my problem solved, the supervisor was also very friendly. It makes me fill good to see tax dollars go to people that will not treat people bad and work for the people. read more

The staff are consistently friendly to talk to and helpful when I called. I have no complaints about them. I'm not happy with how the city runs the utility service. Here's one reason the city is having water problems. Prices don't reflect the amount of water used. Our house was unoccupied for six months and the "water" portion of tbe bill still cost us $280. The bills weren't any less as when we were living there using water. So where's the incentive to follow the 36% mandated reduction? My suggestion is to make the cost is proportional to the amount of water used. read more

The city of Clovis utility division is just a fraud. They are constantly over charging and under delivering on both service and quality. The staff refuse to do anything to help you resolve problems. The only solution they have is write a check and pay the high fees and the add on fees and the late fees and reconnect fees.... all Clovis city cares about is feeding their budget read more
