First off - this place has no right to be as absolutely adorable, cozy, and phenomenal as it is!…read moreThe Dundee Bistro is tucked away in this tiny little wine country town in Oregon, and it's truly the perfect stop for a delicious lunch, a glass of local wine, or just to browse their charming little market. Inside, they have a small shop area featuring locally made goodies: honey, cheeses, cured meats, wines, and other treats. You order at the walk-up counter where the menu includes freshly made sandwiches, soups, chilis, salads, and other local favorites. Everything is made to order and comes out quickly. I ordered the Dundee Grinder, and it was absolutely fantastic, packed with flavor and definitely not stingy on the ingredients. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality and freshness of the food. The staff was kind, helpful, and efficient, which made the whole experience even better. There are a few tables inside and a lovely outdoor patio in the back with a fireplace and a rain cover, perfect for enjoying your meal no matter the weather. Every little detail here, from the food to the ambiance, feels so thoughtful and welcoming. If you're in the Dundee area or wine tasting nearby, this spot is a must-visit. I'll definitely be recommending it to anyone heading this way!

The appetizers were delicious and fed a large party without us having to order multiples of each dish. For an entree, I had the pork, which I felt was a bit overcooked and lacking in flavor. One of the things I found oddest about the evening was the hours of the restaurant. We dined here on a Saturday night at 7:30 - immediately after we were sat we were told we needed to order promptly because the kitchen closes at 8:00. I still don't quite understand why you would allow reservations so close to a kitchen's closing time. It ended up making the meal feel a bit rushed and lackluster. Overall, it was a perfectly adequate meal but I'm not sure I would need to stop in here again.

We had the beet salad to start which was just perfect. The truffle burrata mousse was something I've never had before and it added a light creaminess to the dish. My friend had the pasta de la nonna and I had the special of the night. The pasta de la nonna was delicious, flavorful, and the noodles were something I've never fresh! It was more than just a red sauce. My ravioli was filled with something delicious (I wish I could remember now lol what it was). We had tiramisu for dessert since it was her birthday. Service was lovely. Great find on vacation!

Gnocchi was killer and the pizza was pretty good. The service was absolutely meh. We watched a table seated after us get drinks and salads before we even gave our drink order, and they got their meals before we ordered. We were pretty excited to order and stoked for the food here, so the meh service was really a bummer. We also were seated in the back, and it was really hot in that room. If I had it to do over again, I'd request the restaurant area up front. Overall, we'd go back to give it another go. But there was room for improvement for sure.

We did the 1880 Connection to compare wines from Beaune to Oregon and this was an amazing experience. From the start, when we walked in, we were warmly greeted until the time we left, we had an absolutely extraordinary experience. Our host, Connor, was phenomenal. He was exceptionally well-versed and shared a wealth of knowledge about the wine and the estate. Every single wine we tasted was an unforgettable experience in itself. After our tasting, we walked up to the garden on the hill overlooking the vineyards, and the views were simply breathtaking. It was the perfect finale to a wonderful visit. We cannot recommend this place highly enough and definitely want to go back! Thank you to Connor (also Vincent - helped us with our French) for an amazing and fun time.

There were no tastings available, but given the weather we had just driven through to get there, and bc my friend is a certified somm with the CMS, we decided simply to create our own tasting experience from the single pour options made available. Other reviewers have also mentioned it, but when we sought input from the staff to make our initial wine selections, our experience of service was underwhelming. It was frankly a little disappointing given the status and caliber of the house. Gratefully we met Ben who was solidly helpful; he appreciative of our Quest to create a meaningful tasting experience for ourselves, even if we had not been able to score an appointment with a venue host. He was very knowledgeable and spoke to with us without condescension, intelligently answering our questions about the vineyards, wine making processes, and house history. With his help we also learned about some excellent options for dining in the area. Ben poured our selection of four wines and we chose to take the glasses outside on the patio as the rain had stopped. We helped another couple with photos they were trying to take, and then were able to film a few tasting clips against the picturesque back drop of the vineyards. We ordered a serving of the gougères, which came out warm and were delicious. I picked up a bottle of the Zeraphine Pinot Noir for the friend who had recommended the winery, and Mac picked up three bottles including the estate chardonnay, to return to Canada with. All in all a solid self-guided tasting and learning experience.
