Happened to stop by downtown Edmonds today with my college friend so that we could walk to see…read morePuget Sound from there. Lo, and behold, they were hosting a vintage car show with dozens of classic cars lined up and down Main St and many side streets. People from all over were walking around admiring the cars, talking to the proud owners, sometimes posing for pictures with them. Meanwhile food trucks were out in force to create a festival atmosphere with smash burgers, hot dogs, kettle corn and cotton candy. Those yummy aromas filled the air as we walked two miles going up and down every byway. So fun! We also ventured as far as the Edmonds Underwater Park at the edge of the sound where families were picnicking and children were building sand castles. All around an idyllic Sunday.

It's very much like a small city but very relaxing. There are local shops and malls. Air is very clean. It's a very nice suburb. If you compare to Other city, Puyallup is much better because it has something uniqueness to it. The name Puyallup is from the name of a First Nation band.

What I find very interesting about Puyallup is downtown and then South Hill. South Hill is filled with malls, shopping galore and housing developments all living with ginormous Douglas Fir Trees. The way I would describe South Hill would be very contemporary and modern that anyone in the fast life would enjoy. On the other hand, downtown is a completely different story! Strolling downtown the feel is extremely different. It feels like a small town down there with shops still lining the streets like they did a hundred years ago, farms, cute homes, no "cookie-cutter" ones that are being built, and is an adorable area. It's awesome to have the best of both worlds! PROS: 1) The Sounder train that runs through downtown that commutes workers to and from Seattle everyday which is extremely convenient. 2) The school district is AMAZING! All the schools are clean, teachers and administrators are kind and generally want the best in kids. The schools are gorgeous and some of them (such as Meeker Elementary) are a hundred years old yet still keep some of the originals' roots such as the hardwood floors original used in classrooms. 3) Overall, it's an incredible place to raise a family. You can feel safe letting your teens roam around. There's also a lot of teen and tween safe places (ie: Elements Frozen Yogurt, Puyallup Public Library, Anthem Coffee and Tea). 4) There is some nightlife! There are bars and some great places for some adult-time! 5) There's amazing hole-in-the-wall restaurants like Trackside Pizza, Crockett's, among others. 6) The Washington State Fair brings visitors from all over the country to Puyallup and it's just an amazing time! The list is infinite. I just don't have hours to write them all....lol :) CONS: 1) Meridean is poorly constructed. Traffic is a big, fat, pain in the booty! It needs to be widened or something because this isn't working. 2) Puyallup is a growing city, and with a flourishing city comes crime, and I cannot honesty say it isn't on a rise. Of course, this isn't at an alarming rate, but it is there. Puyallup is astounding. I've fallen in love with this suburb, and I don't think I will ever be able to leave :)

Just…read morea short ferry ride away, you can find Winslow Way, which runs about ten city blocks, and encompasses on both sides a number of local businesses, including a bookstore, several galleries, and multiple restaurants and bakeries. A ferry terminal, with service to Seattle's Colman Dock, boards at the east end of Winslow Way. You can also find a number of public parks around the island. The last time I visited, we brought my friend's dog with us and he LOVED being able to check out all the forest-y areas. Many shops are also dog friendly. Very charming... love Bainbridge Island.

The only good things are the black guy who brings the dogs treats and friendly dogs!…read more I take my dog to Burien off leash dog park and it's pretty frustrating, as a disabled person, to see the girl, who works for the city, in dreads park in the only disability parking spot to pick up the garbage. Then instead of moving her truck to clear the other 3 cans she stays parked in the disabled spot and WALKS across the park slowly collecting garbage. No consideration what so ever!! Today is fairly infuriating! As we sit at the park, I see and hear workers working on the park, but you have the dread girl and her 3 coworkers chit chatting at their rigs doing no real work! Thanks to the people who actually put in the work to keep this park pleasant and safe!

I can not wait to come back to Renton and explore more. The quaint downtown area gives a "small…read moretown" feel in contrast to the booming urban landscape of nearby Seattle. I regret not patronizing the alluring shops, as many closed before 7pm. I fell in love with the uniquely situated library. Think, "A River Runs through It"! The city has had tons of restaurants, bars, parks, and larger shopping centers where you'll be sure to find something to do. Or just enjoy the quiet. I'll be back!!!

Steve T was very patient discussing our needs, and the process before we submitted our application. Scott was great at the inspections. The Renton Senior Activity Center has one of the best facilities and programs around. I have compared senior centers to other municipalities when I visited, such as the Olympia area, and now I know even more what a wonderful city I live in. Renton has wonderful green parks that make use of the Lake Washington lakefront and of the Cedar River which runs through town. Lots of bicycle paths are available and some outdoor exercise equipment.

Poulsbo is small but packs a big punch in terms of charm. The city planners have made considerable…read moreeffort to make the town walkable and attractive. There is a lot of free public parking. I would say, however, that at peak tourist season in August parking can be tight. There are numerous eating options. There are art galleries, artisan souvenir shops, a bakery, chocolatier, a book store, and several apparel stores. Of course there are bars and wineries. The big surprise is that this is a "Norwegian" town with flags up and down the main streets. Who knew? As you turn into the town there is a large viking statue that says "welcome" in Norwegian. There are lots of Norwegian-themed stores and restaurants. Since I've been to Norway four times, I have watched a lot Viking shows on the History channel. I have never seen any description of Vikings in the Pacific Northwest. No one in town seems to know how or why the Vikings arrived. So that a mystery to me. Overall, Poulsbo is both livable and an attractive place to spend a day as a tourist. People are friendly and happy. I understand why.

Full of tributes to its Scandinavian heritage in everything from the town's architecture to its…read morepastries, Poulsbo is one of our fave little villages in Washington and we go out of our way to stop here at least once every time we visit! It sits on the west side of the Puget Sound - across from Seattle and has beautiful PNW views of Liberty Bay from all over the town. We love to get lunch at Tizleys Pub - their German cuisine is wonderful - traditional schnitzels and sausages and more. And for dessert, Sluys bakery is a must!! Sluy's specializes in Scandinavian pastries and "Poulsbo Bread"- a multigrain recipe which the original owner of the bakery claims he got from the Bible lol! We love to get their Angel Cream donuts and Viking cups and munch on them in the lovely water front park by the port. The waterfront park has lots of parking too and is a perfect location to start exploring from - central to the waterfront and the main part of town. The town was founded by Norwegian immigrants in the 1880s as well as many others from the Scandinavian countries. The town really celebrates its Viking heritage and is such a fun place to explore. There's even a giant 12-foot Norseman Viking statue at the town's entrance that was created by a local artist! The holiday season is an excellent time to visit - the town is decorated to the nines as you can imagine - and they even have a cute little Santa House open on the weekends with all the elves and the man himself of course. And Sluys does a really fun gingerbread house contest among its staff on display in the window. One surprising discovery is the lovely fall colors in the area - and the fall salmon runs are so big they conduct salmon tours!! So that's definitely on my agenda for our next visit!

The court house is located in a different building a few blocks/streets away. On my most recent visit on Thursday 21 March 2024, I found two levels of parking, with a mostly full upper parking lot. Oddly, the electric vehicle spots were closer to the entrance than the handicap spot(s), for the upper parking lot, and there was only one handicap spot. Grounds were open for public access/exploring on foot. By one of the entrances to the City Hall was a water fountain(s) art piece. Other art pieces were located across the grounds. A benched sitting area was centered around a flag pole with the Washington State flag and the United States of America flag. Benches, stone pieces, and bricks were dedicated to past/present members of the military. Curiously, I found no voter's ballot dropbox. This is something a number of City Halls in King County are equipped with, however not Shoreline City Hall as of this visit on Thursday 21 March 2024.
