While I can appreciate Sk8 or die graffiti vibes - it was clear that the graffiti "art" was not the business as sidewalls were laden with curse-word graffiti. A bummer to have to explain to my kids that "this is not the kind of art we are looking for." Again the saving grace was that we had the space to ourselves...maybe next time I'll bring my push broom and power washer before we use the space.

For banking needs, East West Bank is a good choice. For French pastries, Paris Baguette is in the house that I recently found out about. For Pho, they have Pho Ha. For walks and bike riding, lots of hike trails and parks are available. Diamond Bar makes it the perfect place to live, work and play. It is a neighboring city to Rowland Heights. How cool is that! I would love to live here or near here in the future. Just don't know if they still have land to build new single story homes LOL.

I originally discovered Diamond Bar Library while searching for a quieter place to study after…read morespending time at the West Covina Library. I still remember the first day I walked in here. The difference was immediate. The atmosphere felt calm, focused, and peaceful. It honestly felt like stepping into study heaven. For anyone who needs a consistently quiet environment to work or study, this has easily been one of the quietest libraries I've experienced in Los Angeles County. I spent many long hours here preparing for my medical board exams, so I really came to appreciate the environment. The layout offers a great mix of larger tables and individual study cubbies, and there are outlets available which makes settling in for long study sessions much easier. The library also feels very safe, likely because of its location next to City Hall and the fact that it sits a bit tucked away from the busiest parts of town. There are entrances in both the front and back, and I personally found the quieter seating area on the left side when entering from the back to be my favorite spot, especially the tables near the windows where you still get that nice natural light during the day. The staff has always been friendly and helpful as well. I believe one of the librarians named Jen really helped maintain a welcoming atmosphere. One thing I appreciate about this location is that they take maintaining a focused study environment seriously. For example, eating isn't allowed inside the library, which helps keep things clean and minimizes distractions. There is a garden area outside and you can always step outside for a quick snack break. After spending many hours here, I started to notice some of the daily rhythms of the building. The restrooms are impressively clean, which deserves a shout out to whoever keeps them maintained. The library also has a small bookstore run separately from the library itself, which is a fun little feature if you happen to stop by while it's open. If there were a few small improvements that could make an already great space even better, they would mostly relate to sound consistency. Because this is such a quiet library overall, small sounds can stand out more than they normally would. Occasionally conversations at the service desks or phones ringing can carry across the room, and sometimes outside maintenance work can be heard from the garden area. Nothing that ruins the experience, but little adjustments there could make an already peaceful environment even more ideal for studying. I also noticed that the closing announcements can be a bit startling if you're deep in concentration, so maybe a softer chime before the announcement could make it feel a bit smoother. Another thing that could help maintain the quiet atmosphere is occasionally reminding visitors with young children that certain sections are intended for quiet study. The kids' area is nicely separated, which already helps a lot, and a gentle reminder here and there would probably keep everything running smoothly. Overall, I'm genuinely grateful for this library. The long hours are fantastic. Being open until the evening made it possible for me to have full study days here when preparing for my boards. Yes, it was a bit of a drive from West Covina, but it was absolutely worth it for the calm environment and the ability to truly focus. Diamond Bar Library became one of my go to study spots, and it's a place I'll definitely remember fondly.

Later on, they moved the shop to the City of Montclair. As an young teenager, I would help sew pillows at my Dad's shop. My Mom would sew the cushions and pillows. My younger brothers would fill the pillows. It was a family affair. Every time I drive into Pomona, it would bring me back to the good old days with my Dad, Mom, and brothers at the shop. Miss you Dad! Nowadays, I know Pomona as a place I bring my Mom to go recycle cardboard and pilates as there are a couple recycling centers in this city that she likes to go to. There are shops and restaurants on Holt Blvd that I used to visit in the past. Pho Ha on Indian Hill Blvd used to be my parents go-to lunch spot back in the days. There is the indoor swap meet for those who want to snatch some good deals. Hoa Binh is a popular Asian supermarket that's been around for decades. A lot of the buildings are somewhat dated in Pomona. The streets could be better well maintained. Of course, every city has its old and new. Whatever brings us to the city is what we resonate with. Remember, always find good in everything and everyplace.

I met Barbara Ann Hall, P.h.D., curator of the Vintage Years Exhibit. She devoted her time to collecting and restoring historic more than 100 photographs of the City from the 1800s to 1950s. She was a member of the Covina Valley Historical Society who was instrumental in this project. Most of the photos in the collection were taken by C.W. Tucker who had a photography studio in 1900s. You are welcomed to tour the photos during business hours (Monday-Thursday from 7AM-6PM, closed on State holidays). When Dr. Hall was looking for sponsors to contribute toward the cost of exhibit, I gladly chose a photo that is on display by the City Manager's office. This was around 1999 and cost about $150-$200, I forgot the actual amount to donate toward this worthy cause. The history beginning in 1800s and continuing to the 1950s was interesting to learn about. The City of Covina incorporated in 1901. I now know that some of the streets are named after the founders and businessmen who worked in the Citrus groves or opened a business now known as Downtown Covina. Notables to mention: John Rowland, Ellen Beach Yaw, soprano singer (Lark Ellen), William Workman, Julian & Antonio Badillo, Covina Women's Club, Covina Concert Band, Covina Chamber of Commerce, City Board of Trustees, Covina City Council and staff. There's slight incline if you plan to do some walking but there is some paved paths where I did see folks walking around. There are poop along the path and also on the grass. This is wonderful park to have in the neighborhood. Wished I lived a bit closer and wished we came prepared with a picnic blanket. Tips: -Small parking lot. -Restroom available. -Basketball courts. -Small playground with 2 swings.

I called the Industry station about alarm permits to find out how to file for an alarm permit in Hacienda Heights. Luckily, Industry station DOES NOT require an alarm permit for its areas of coverage, which includes HH! Cheers for saving $30 a year!!!!!! I still need to double check that I don't need an alarm permit since my alarm company said that I do in their initial e-mail to me. If that's the case, I'll update the review and let you guys know. The dispatch or station clerk who picked up was courteous. I thought they might be impatient as I was asking questions since today is July 4th, but the guy was very helpful. After my parked car was involved in a hit and run, I first went to CHP to make a report. After I explained that CHP had already directed me there, he told me they do not take reports for incidents on private property and said to go through insurance instead. He also stated, "We're not going to do insurance's job for them." Throughout the interaction, he was very dismissive and did not seem interested in listening to the situation or providing any guidance beyond telling me to contact insurance.
