There were two people sitting at the reception desk, one was on the phone (the instructor) the other, possibly a student just sat there looking for at least a minute before finally greeting me and checking me in. I had an appointment so my wait up front was brief fortunately. I'm thinking the student who did my hair earned plenty of class credits as I am the first ever textured hair client in her chair for wash, blow dry and flat iron. The very first. We were both nervous. From my one experience here the students aren't taught much about professionalism with their clients. She was pleasant as could be but never once asked about the products I use on my hair, how I typically style it or anything. I was pleased that the instructor stayed very available to her for my service. They used Redken One United products on my hair. As I'm accustomed to Design Essentials line of products so this was new for me. The cons: 1)My stylists was equipped with only one size flat iron. 2) The client chairs are strangely close, me and the client in the next chair almost knocked knees several times. Not kidding. 3) Dead quiet, like being in a library, no music going and very little conversation. 4) Noticeable lack of professionalism.

The FSCC Cosmetology School includes a hair salon which offers a full line of services to the public at a token price while allowing students to gain practical, hands-on experience after having studied theory and before taking their board exams to become licensed. just as student teaching, internships and practicums are required to enter other professions, this is time "on the floor" is an important part of their training. Clients should keep in mind that services are being performed by students who are still learning. While a few of the students already have exceptional talent, many are average. Do not expect a student to be able to do everything as well or as fast a someone with 10 or 20 years experience. Clients should also realize that the small fee charged for services covers water, electricity and product. The students are not paid for their work. Don't forget to leave a gratuity, especially if you were happy with your service. Regular clients should not get too attached to any one stylist, as the course lasts less than one year, and the students graduate and move on. Almost all students seem to do the best they can and to be concerned about client satisfaction. Instructors are available for consultation and assistance, should the need arise. For clients who are comfortable having students perform their services, the Cosmetology School offers an excellent value and the clients, in turn, are offering the students the chance to gain experience. This review is for 3 stars for the following reasons: The facility is a disgrace. It is old and shabby and tacky. While almost every other FSCC program -- from tractor & motorcycle repair to fine arts -- boasts a fine facility, the Cosmetology School is relegated to second- and third-rate everything. Obviously, this is the fault of neither the instructors nor the students, who are doing the best they can with the little they have, but it still must be taken into account. Sadly, over the years, the behavior and language of the students has gone downhill. Many of them are frequently rude and sophomoric. Few act in a truly professional manner. Even so, given the bargain prices charged and the true talent that a few students do posses, it does deserve 3 stars.

That must have been taken 8 years ago when they actually cared about their students. They won't tell you that the network and security exams are not covered in your tuition. Those are each $400+ out of pocket. Did I mention 2 chapters a week with no review? Had a teacher get fired for having a relationship with one of the students. Last years passing rate was 30%, I'm sure they made a remarkable difference and brought it down to 25%. They have one person for career services, the whole school is a joke. Spend your money and time anywhere else. They will have no problem putting you 20K in debt. The teachers hate WTI. The students hate WTI. There is a reason we all called it "Why Try Institute".

THEY HAVE NO REGIONAL ACCREDITATION!!! I am having to get my second associates degree and have tons of useless debt because of WTI LIES. Extremely dissatisfied graduate from 2021, avoid this overpriced scam institution at all costs.
