definitely get pricing before you go. I spent more there than I would have if I'd gone to a real salon. my hair is ruined. she cut off over four inches more than requested. it will take years to recover from the one mistake of choosing a beauty school over a salon. the only pleasant part of my experience was the students themselves. it's unfortunate that their lack of training and the ridiculous prices will likely result in an unsuccessful experience for them just as mine was not only unsuccessful it was very unfortunate. I will not be returning nor will I ever recommended that anyone to there for any service.

This is the hair color I wanted. This is me in the picture from another salon.

I'm not happy with my experience here. First there was confusion on a Daniel and Danielle, so I was placed with a stylist I wasn't expecting. I understand that mixups can occur so that didn't bother me too much. The appointment began 30 minutes later because of this. The stylist was fine and enjoyed conversing, especially to her fellow coworkers. However, her mask was constantly below her nose and mouth for most of the appointment. I'm fine with her wanting to chat to other coworkers, but keep your mask on please. The pandemic isn't over. I showed them three pictures of the color I wanted. I understand it's not likely to match perfectly, but the result was not near what I wanted. When I heard comments about how "red and orange" the hair was, my heart dropped. I couldn't find the right words at the time. After I made a comment about how this wasn't what I was expecting, one of the leaders came over to mention about how they would need to use a toner, but to wait until Monday to "get a feel for it." I wasn't aware that Monday would be the next available day to fix this color due to the company not dealing with chemicals on the weekend. I found out that information this morning after trying to book an appointment today. I did receive compliments on how this color matched my eyes and skin tone, but it honestly didn't change how I felt. I'm hoping that my appointment on Monday will provided results that I will feel better about.

Came for eyebrow and eyelash tints as well as an eyelash lift, and was the worst decision ever! Had tears in my eyes walking out of the place because they thought they looked amazing and didn't care that I wasn't happy with how it turned out! She told me it would be light blonde, which clearly wasn't the case, and it was stained on my skin and not clean at all! Glue was stuck on my eyelids all day and I couldn't get it off at all!! Could seriously not drive home without pulling over to try to pull the glue off to see. See before and after below I also should have received a half off discount for the day I went on, and this was not granted for me as they "forgot"

    "Full set" of lashes

I booked an eyelash extension appointment for 1PM today, she didn't start on me until 1:45 because she got her appointments messed up, she told me she doesn't like to do lashes & isn't an expert but the school requires them to complete a certain amount of sets. If you know anything about lashes, you know that the stylist is supposed to separate the lash and put the extension on each lash individually, she just sat them on top of my lash line. She said she was done and I asked her to fill them in more & she told me she actually had to leave at 3:30 but could get someone to finish them for her. Someone else came in to finish and had to call the teacher in to separate some of the extensions that were glued to my bottom lashes. This are the results from 4:15, 3 and a half hours later for this "full set" . Lashes were stuck on top of my lid & when I went to pull one off my lid. Groups came off. Never again.

Worst pedicure ever! The girl didn't even know what the hell she was doing! And my feet are stained blue! Not impressive at all!

They don't seem to promote professionalism. There were two people sitting at the reception desk, one was on the phone (the instructor) the other, possibly a student just sat there looking for at least a minute before finally greeting me and checking me in. I had an appointment so my wait up front was brief fortunately. I'm thinking the student who did my hair earned plenty of class credits as I am the first ever textured hair client in her chair for wash, blow dry and flat iron. The very first. We were both nervous. From my one experience here the students aren't taught much about professionalism with their clients. She was pleasant as could be but never once asked about the products I use on my hair, how I typically style it or anything. I was pleased that the instructor stayed very available to her for my service. They used Redken One United products on my hair. As I'm accustomed to Design Essentials line of products so this was new for me. The cons: 1)My stylists was equipped with only one size flat iron. 2) The client chairs are strangely close, me and the client in the next chair almost knocked knees several times. Not kidding. 3) Dead quiet, like being in a library, no music going and very little conversation. 4) Noticeable lack of professionalism.

If you're looking for a hairstylist who is so talented that complete strangers stop you to ask who…read moredoes your hair, Emily is that person. I've been going to Emily for over 16 years, and without hesitation, I can say she's the best hairstylist I've ever met. I actually found her after stopping a woman whose hair was absolutely stunning because I had to know who did it. She gave me Emily's information, and from that day on, I've never gone anywhere else. Over the years, I've referred my mom, my sister, my best friends--pretty much anyone I love--because I trust Emily completely. In fact, my sister once flew from San Francisco to Los Angeles for the day just to have Emily do her hair... and flew home the very same day. No overnight stay. Just a haircut. That's how worth it she is. When Emily moved from Los Angeles to Missouri to open La Luna Academy, I couldn't have been happier for her. She is one of those rare people who has truly found what she was put on this earth to do. Her eye for color, shape, texture, and what will complement each individual person is something you can't teach--it's simply a gift. One of the things I love most about Emily is that she genuinely wants other stylists to succeed. She doesn't keep her knowledge to herself--she loves sharing it. Even after 16 years as her client, I've learned so much about hair just by sitting in her chair and listening to her explain what she's doing and why. If I've learned that much as a client, I can't imagine how incredible it would be to be one of her students. If you ever have the opportunity to sit in one of her students' chairs while she's teaching at La Luna Academy, do it. You're not just getting your hair done--you're getting the benefit of Emily's passion, knowledge, and commitment to excellence passed down to the next generation of hairstylists. Now that I live in Nashville, I actually plan my trips back to Los Angeles around the times she's visiting so I can still get my hair cut by her. That's how much I trust her. I genuinely don't want anyone else touching my hair. Emily is exceptional with both color and cuts, but what makes her even more special is who she is. She's authentic, down-to-earth, effortlessly cool, and never tries to chase trends. She simply knows what works, what will make you feel your absolute best, and somehow always manages to make you leave feeling more confident than when you walked in. Every single time I leave her chair, I feel more beautiful, more confident, and more like myself. That's a rare gift. Emily is worth every mile, every flight, and every minute. I know, because after 16+ years, I still plan trips around seeing her. Love you, Emily. Thank you for making me feel beautiful all these years. You are truly one of a kind.

Since I am all about education, and have professional experience in cosmetology, I wasn't upset when I didn't get exactly what I requested with my haircut. However, on a second visit to get some issues taken care of, I dealt with a rude staff member who blamed me for not communicating the hairstyle I wanted effectively to the student. Additionally, during this second visit, when I requested that my hair be cut "wet" to fix the problem, she "huffed" at me. Before she made any cuts to my hair I told her I didn't have a good feeling about this and told her I changed my mind. It took a lot of guts for me to do that as I am not a confrontational person. She replied, "I think that is a good idea" took off my cape and walked away. I don't know why I was treated this way. I smiled, I was respectful and courteous. But reflecting on it now, even my phone conversation to make the appointment was weird. When I stated, "I could cut this long piece off myself, but since you are a school, I figure we might as well use it as a learning experience for the student", the reply was, "I disagree. We are a recognized salon. Perhaps you can bring a picture of the style you want when you come to your appointment." Again, I said it wasn't a big deal, just a long piece that needs to be cut off. I never saw the student when I went back in, only a staff member. How will their students ever learn if not given the opportunity to acknowledge and fix their own mistakes, or learn the value of good customer service? This was the weirdest experience I have ever had. It was awkward, uncomfortable, and full of drama. I don't know what the normal procedure is for the school when a customer has an issue, but I was expecting to see the student who cut my hair the first time, and pay for the shampoo, haircut, and style again. I have never experienced contempt from a business that I am giving my money to and supporting; just....bizarre! Good customer service would have kept me going back to the school. I want to continue to support the profession and give students needed practice, but I will now drive the extra 30 miles to Camdenton's Central College of Cosmetology school to do so.
