The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and they took the time to explain the issues with my vehicle in a way that I could understand. They were also very upfront about the cost of the repairs and didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary services. The repair work was completed accordingly and my cars always well taken care off, unless there was something else that was beyond repair and couldn't be fixed I was informed about it prior to any services being done. The shop is run by folks of Chinese heritage their might be the slightest communication challenge, but overall, Richard and his staff do a fantastic job at communicating. This is a small, family owned auto shop that came recommended to me from a friend of a friend of a friend. The main guy Richard really knows his stuff about cars, and maybe more importantly in the auto business, is very genuine, honest, and focused. No upselling, no phantom problems, no crazy quotes. His prices are beyond reasonable, and he is extremely transparent throughout the whole process. They have convenient appointments and will really work with you to help you fix your problems. One of my cornering lights burned out once, and had I gone to the Mercedes dealership to fix it, it it would have cost me at least a hundred bucks or more. At South Auto, they special ordered the exact bulb, and he installed it for me on the spot. It was a quick thing, he said, so he charged me $15. $8 for the bulb, and $7 for labor. THAT IS UNHEARD OF. I was on the fence about doing my annual service at South Auto because I wondered if that's something that is worth doing at the dealership, but Richard was able to do it for 1/3 of the price, while still using the specified engine oil imported from Germany, etc. I'm sold! It's a small shop, so don't expect anything fancy. No plush leather chairs in the waiting room, no quartz counters with a friendly receptionist, no complimentary snacks, but man are the prices reasonable and the work top quality. The shop is run by folks of Chinese heritage so while there may be the slightest communication challenge, I've found all of them to be fluent in english especially when it came to cars.

My car is a Mitsubishi Endeavor 2007 so when my brakes did not work properly I request to Jay an estimation for rear and front brakes they answer to me and I made an appointment. Shortly after I left the car to the shop Jay called me with a good news you have left on your car about 2 years so is not a time to replace them. Honestly I was shocked by Jay's honesty and I ask him to check the brake fluid or some leaks somewhere and he replaced the fluid and charge me labour for one hour. So far so good the car is ok now and I want to thank to Jay and Andreea for their nice job.

Most importantly, I trust them totally, and have never had repairs suggested that I didn't absolutely need. In fact, I've been often advised to wait (i.e. tires are good - we will check again in the spring). We went to Economy Auto on the recommendation of my brother (& if you know my brother - he would…read morewant the most value for his dollar). We called on a Saturday & Kevin said we could bring it in on Monday. I'm in Calgary visiting my granddaughter so the communications were done with my hubby on Vancouver Island. On Tuesday, Kevin called my hubby to say what would be needed and quoted us a price. This is a 2001 Subaru Legacy which we leave in Calgary to drive when we are visiting, it has been an exceptionally reliable car which hasn't really cost us anything in repairs. Although it may not make sense to spend that kind of money on a car this old it has keep it's value. Kevin had given us a couple of options so as not to spend so much right now but we had decided to go ahead & replace all the rack & pinion, instead of waiting for the other part to go on us. Kevin called to say the car was ready on Wednesday (I was leaving back to the island on Friday). Kevin was so conscientious showing us the broken old rack & pinion and his brother caught that there was a nail on my back tire - which they patched for us, did a wheel alignment & balanced the 4 wheels. All of these repairs were within the original quoted price. I would definitely recommend Economy Auto to anyone looking for honest, efficient and great work.
