I wanted to make sure I could bless them back... I volunteered to help with the boxes they prepare to bless people. They put a lot of work into that. They make sure each box is blessed with love. They work very hard to do this. I was blessed to work with Leslie in her church family trust me people they put a lot of time and hard work to make sure your bags and your boxes are well put together with so much love. It's not easy . The team work make it look so easy. but Miss Leslie, get the job done. yes your bless to get a bag or a box.. just rember there working hard behide the scene to make sure everybody get to eat.. Note: they open only on Tuesday and start giving the food away at 5.00 so you better come an hour before to get the food faster.

And I've morning a lost from a relationship, my cars engine broke down on me, listening to family drama and I'm just like what did I do to deserve this. I am blessed enough to have friends to come and get me to take me to church, and I even walked back home after. Took me 3 and half hours to walk but I needed that. There was plenty of parking in the garage, come early especially since this Saturday they had this performance of the passion play. Great singing and performance by everyone. We took communion. I'm torn by the way I feel. I feel like there is an angel and a demon on my shoulders that tugging on my heart, mind and spirit. I want to do right. So god has it on my heart to lean on him while I am feeling so low. Not going to lie I miss my daughter so much.

It's unfortunate, especially because no employees do anything to quiet people down. Sorry to break it to you but you're not having a one on one conversation with the pastor. He's preaching to 1100+ people. Please fix this Shepherd church team. I really want to go back to the days of walking into my beautiful church and hearing the pastor preach in person.

While, I don't…read morehave time to go to service anymore, I always go and pray to the mosaic mural of the Virgen de Guadalupe. It is such a gorgeous mural and it is very large. I am not sure when it was placed but it was there before my parents moved into the area. When it is December 12th, the amount of flowers given to Her is unimaginable. So beautiful and someone will eventually come to replace the flowers or refill them. No matter the scandals that the Catholic Church has experienced, I am very loyal to my childhood church. Also come during the week of December 12th! It does not matter what your religion (or no religion) is, the Church will open its doors but why that week? They bring in Aztec (Mexica) dancers that are usually people who learned to dance from programs from the Church. This is for tribute to Her, the Virgin Mother. There are problems with the Church, such as not answering the phone (best is to email them and someone please help them fix their website layout). However, despite the state of the neighborhood, if you view it as good or bad, I am very pleased the Church meets the need of the people by expressing it through cultural awareness in bringing not only the Virgen de Guadalupe but the other apparitions of the Virgin Mother, and by bringing priests with different backgrounds (even different ethnic backgrounds) to the Church.

It used to be that we were allowed to move from one side to the other, walking BEHIND the church goers of course... but that changed a few years ago! we were to stay on one side of the altar, and shoot our images/video from there... which gave us a good angle! and we usually were able place a camera on the other side, out of the way, so we could capture the Bible readings... but now! we can't even do that!!! We are forced to stay on the handicaped ramp to the right side of the altar, and were told to "not move from there" until it is time to go to the other side for the offering of flowers to the Virgin Mary... which is hidden away in the very far part of the altar... which you can NOT get to, unless you get to walk there BEFORE the flower time! and to make matters worse... because of the Pope's passing, they had a shrine built to the right of our location, so we could not get a shot of the altar!!! I was told that I could NOT place a camera in the far side of sanctuary, because "those were the rules", so I asked "who makes the rules?" and Miguel said that each church has its own rules... I asked why not let me place a camera out of the way? it wasn't on anybody's way! again... "those are the rules"... So I asked him.. "why do they allow so many cameras during mass at the Vatican? they must have a hundred cameras! he said that they were "unmanned"... so I said I could do that! I can put up to 5 unmanned cameras! He said "No, you can not! those are the rules!" The church lady...(I didn't catch her name) told me I could come back to the altar for a few pictures after the service... but when I brought the girl back, she screamed at me that no more pictures were allowed! that they had another quinceañera coming in! I said "I was told I could get a few" she yelled "who told you that?" I said "YOU DID!" and then she said okay! only one! I did a test shot, she said "that is enough!" REALLY?! it was a test shot! I took 3 pictures of the same pose and walked out! Hoping I will never have to come back to this church!!! and I will tell everyone of my clients to change their mind about having their event there... it seems like they are in the "business" of faith... because the service is NOT free... like the Pope said, but they get around that with the technicality of calling it an "offering"... which should be called a "bribe" if we're being honest. I have been doing professional photography and video for over 3 decades! and I have often asked my clients, if they knew their house was going to flood in a few minutes, what items would they rescue from it? the answer is almost always their pictures and videos... but not the clients from St. Elizabeth! since they don't have any of those! because "those are the rules".

This review is strictly for the church not the school! Love: that they have lots of mass schedules scattered throughout the weekend. Makes it more convenient to catch a mass when you have a busy schedule. The priests are friendly and give good homilies. Love the old school layout of the church. Love that there's plenty of seating so you don't usually have to worry unless it's a major holy day of obligation. Dislike: the parking situation. There's a small parking lot on the school grounds which fills up quickly. Frequently you're having to park on the busy side street, Roscoe. That's always iffy since there's a lot of traffic and crazy people trying to break into your car. Dislike that they have so many announcements at the end of the mass. Sometimes it's another 10 minutes worth of announcements, crazy. If you're really lucky you might even catch their high school performing a "preview" of whatever upcoming play they are selling tickets for. I always thought that's awkward to piggyback that kind of stuff to a mass. It feels like you're taking away the concentration of the importance of the mass, but that's just me.

Everyone is genuinely sweet, not over bearing, and I always leave service feeling better than when I walked in. I love how the singles group is lead by a wonderfully spirited married couple (David & Cece). And their group is always doing fun things like hiking, going to the movies, dining out, having potlucks and game nights. Things you'll notice if you come here: -A true sense of community -Volunteering opportunities -An opportunity to learn about the bible (with no pressure) -Fun group events for married couples, singles, and teenagers -Cool and funny pastors! You don't need to bring ANYthing with you when you come. Just bring who you are and that's it. Enjoy the service and let God do the rest. :)
