This place is pure evil. If you care about your children, you need to keep them away from this bottomless abyss. In 2002, John McArthur, the founding father of Grace Community Church and the Satanic soul who oversaw the creation of the "Legacy Standard Bible" - which inserts his own theology and blatant heresies in place of the authors of the Bible - stood up in front of his congregation and asked them to shame and expel a member of the church for leaving her husband and getting a restraining order against him. Her husband was physical abusing her and raping her children. She refused and was excommunicated from Grace Community Church. 20 years later the church instigated an investigation into this action, and when the lawyer in charge of the investigation found the church and its leadership at fault, that lawyer was told to shut up, alter the report and then he was forced to resign. Our visit was disappointing and uncomfortable. The church felt politically charged and judgmental, with public shaming based on hearsay. During our first visit, they had the congregation call out a man's name in shame over alleged infidelity. When we arrived late, someone physically grabbed my husband to stop him from finding a seat because the choir was singing. This is not a safe or welcoming place for LGBTQ+ individuals. We came to hear the word of God, but instead experienced intolerance and fear-based messaging. Christ taught love, compassion, and justice for the marginalized--not control or condemnation. We did not feel God's presence here, only a narrow interpretation of scripture. A church that only focuses on selective parts of the Bible is not teaching the whole Gospel. This did not feel like a place of grace, love, or true biblical teaching. This is my personal experience. read more

The healthiest, most thriving church I have been to. To get the full experience you should come early and stay for a fellowship group, and the evening service. The morning service is conservative and very God honoring. Right after service, stay seated and chat with those around you! The church is very social. Lively families of all ages and ethnicities. I've been coming here for a year or two. Honestly the campus is nice and clean and I do love all the pastors that come and preach, not just MacArthur. They have lots of groups and classes which is great. The biggest thing I dislike about this church is their parking. It's a huge church so obviously a lot of people come. You practically have to come way earlier or be dropped off or else you'll have to park blocks away. I dont care as much in the winter but in the SFV heat in the summer, it's dreadful. Wish they made two story parking like at Shepherd's in PR. Second thing, I'm sure there are some very nice people here but most people here that I've come across are not friendly at all. Especially some of the ushers, some are friendly, some just completely ignore you. For a church, that's quite sad. I think if you are looking for that warm church experience you're probably not going to find it here unless you join the small groups. It definitely has that stuffy kind of feel. One thing I'll say though is that there lots of old and young families here, younger people too which is nice to see. It's great to see young people on fire for God. read more

I finally had the chance to visit GCC and hear one of my favorite pastors preach, but it didn't come without some pros and cons. Pros: - Pastor John MacArthur is an amazing pastor who preaches directly from the word of God - I love that almost everyone has a physical Bible and not a phone or tablet - The sermon was impactful, memorable, and biblical - Worship was different from what I was used to. It's not a concert and I really enjoyed it, especially reading from the classic hymn books and hearing from the strings and choir - I liked that everything was organized and structured in a particular order - People here dress up for church Cons: - I think the biggest issue was the parking situation. It was a complete mess. Not sure if it's always that way, but for that particular day, it was total chaos. A lot of people had to park in the housing neighborhoods nearby, which crowded the small streets with cars. Because the parking situation was difficult, it left a lot of people, including myself, quite frustrated. A lot of the church members were honking and getting mad at each other, which doesn't look too great for a church that is supposed to represent the love of God. - The people, overall, seemed pretty nice, but no one really came up to greet us or welcome us. Everyone is sort of doing their own thing. - GCC is massive, which isn't a bad thing, but I just prefer smaller churches where people know each other and you don't just feel like a small fish in a big ocean - I'm aware of some of the controversies surrounding this church, but even though I didn't experience them during my visit, I do think there is a sense of legalism at this church that can make GCC feel a bit unwelcoming. There's the feeling of always being on guard or having to act a certain way to fit in. I definitely felt way underdressed. I would like to visit again when I'm in the area. Hopefully, it's not as crazy, but I really like listening to John MacArthur, so I would give this church another chance. I also really enjoyed the bookstore. Decided to take a drive from OC to come and visit Grace church. Had an amazing time here listening to Pastor John MacArthur and him deliver the Word of God. A packed out church that is filled with smiles, joyful people and overall people that are just glad to be here. I'm just a visitor (I don't know anyone here) but I must have had 5 people smile and say good morning to me and I back at them. One reason John draws such a crowd (it was packed out today) is because he is faithful to preaching God's Word. I'm sure there are other things but that seems to be the main thing. We are living in a day and age where consumer Christians are looking for entertaining and "feel good" sermons that honestly bring no conviction and real spiritual breakthrough in people's lives. But rather "itching" the ears of men as Paul says. There is a great divide in churches across America and I believe Grace Church is on the right side. Listen to John's sermon on "Why People Reject Gods Word." The part where he talks about the scholar that mentioned John in his anthology of preaching. He nailed it on the head. The older I get, and the more years in ministry I engage in, the more and more I just want to go deep in God's Word and pastor John does just that. In a day and age where many mega churches are doing "pop culture preaching" or preaching fluff, we need more churches like Grace. I'm just over the whole commercialized entertainment based churches that are great at bringing crowds but terrible at making disciples. This church is definitely not for the casual inquirer Christian that wants loud and lively praise and worship or flashy preaching. I noticed during their praise and worship there are no "superstar" artists on stage promoting their latest album or pastor John preaching trying to draw attention to himself by being recognized as a "awesome speaker" or "gifted communicator". They had Paul Washer tonight and he preached an anointed and timely message. If you know about Paul Washer you can get an idea of what kind of church Grace is: Biblical, Christ centered and not afraid to preach the truth even if it offends as some other reviewers clearly are. Glad I came here today. Definitely plan on bringing my wife and returning in the near future. I pray that Pastor John stays healthy and has many years of ministry ahead of him! With this cultural war we are currently in we need more pastors like John MacArthur that will lead the church to shine brightly in the midst of lawlessness and tyranny. read more

I love this church! Truth is evident in all they do. Pastor MacArthur, or Johnny Mac as we like to call him, continues to stand strong at 82 years old. Amazing! We visited from Arizona and made the missable trek through Cali traffic (even on a Sunday) to get to see him preach live. My kids have grown up listening to GTY, and as someone who was saved by a message of MacArthur's 20 years ago, it was a blessing to get to be part of a Sunday service. Without ease, we found a parking spot, and too late to sit in the main auditorium we were guided by a kind man to an overflow room to watch the sermon. It didn't change what we could feel was happening on this campus; God's peace is instantly evident and all the people there were clearly eager to hear God's word. I attended pre-marital counseling classes here in the late 90's. They had different "teachers" for each weekend session. One of the teachers basically said that he didn't want his wife to work. I could understand somewhat if they had kids because perhaps they would want a parent watching the baby as opposed to daycare. But, nope, no kids. His reasoning was if his wife went to work she might be tempted to cheat. Yep, you heard that right! Isn't cheating an "equal opportunity" kind of thing? Anyone can be tempted to cheat regardless of gender but if he truly love your spouse you will "only have eyes for them" and if you really respect your partner you won't want to destroy your relationship over this. But he did say, "I don't mind if she does something like selling Tupperware. That's ok." Wow, just wow! I have two degrees and I had just got into my career in fashion design at the time. So you think I was going to just throw that all down the drain because this church says women shouldn't work?! By the way, what do they think women should do if their husband dies and they never had a career so nothing to fall back on financially? My husband passed away in 2018 and fortunately, I had a solid career established so I was not just left high and dry with no career and income. These kind of teachings are extremely dangerous. By the way, my (late) husband and I attended the other Grace Baptist Church (related to this one) in Santa Clarita. I noped out when the pastor said women shouldn't wear low rise jeans. This was at a time when you couldn't even buy a pair of high rise jeans unless you shopped in the "old lady" department. What a joke! God doesn't care about what you wear. He cares about what is in your heart and the way you treat people. Finally, when John MacArthur decided to open his church during the height of the pandemic, he broke some of the most important commandments: do not kill and love your neighbor as yourself. Allowing a deadly disease to spread with no masking and a crowded indoor megachurch is not loving and could cause the deaths of many, especially the elderly and more vulnerable health-wise. Just because he won a lawsuit on the grounds of "religious freedom" does not make it right in the eyes of the Lord. This is not Biblical teaching! read more

The reason I attended this church is because I've seen Pastor John MacArthur with some meaty messages online. I disagree with him on some things but agree with him on so much more. With these pastors in LA he is the gold standard. I love how the men dress up for church out of reverence to God. I love how the testimony was required before the baptism. But this is what I didn't like...... I know that Pastor MacArthur is against sensationalism. I completely agree. However the singing of hymns is so dry and takes me back to my pre-salvation days when I was Catholic. It hurts my mouth to sing hymns. I'd rather come late to church then hear another hymn. The two times I attended neither message had the teaching and meatiness that I had expected. Outside of the police officer directing the traffic and the greeter no one spoke to me. I am a very outgoing person and when I showed myself friendly as Proverbs speaks of they didn't show themselves friendly back. After the service I walked around the entire campus to see where the coffee shop, children's ministry, and bookstore was. I walked back through the church where gobs of people were still hanging out. Not one smile. Not one hello. Nothing. I'm accepting this as a message from the Holy Spirit as it's not the place for me. The Holy Spirit however did prompt me to look for a house church like in the Book of Acts. That will be my next move. I get messages all of the time asking if I have found a church yet. Was disgusted to have three members of this church approach me while I was at the Thai temple down the street with my family enjoying the many amazing food vendors. I was surrounded by these members and was when they said they were from the Grace Community Church down the way I immediately shut that down. I am here to enjoy the culture and cuisine at a Thai Buddhist Temple. The temple not once tries to "preach" their beliefs to the attendees, I have been coming here since I was a teen. I explained that what they're doing here trying to abuse peoples kindness by preaching to them in this other religious/cultural setting is not right and they need to show some class and respect. Told them to enjoy the food and of course they weren't there for that. When I left I again saw them encircling a poor woman who was trying to leave but unable to since they cornered her. Take a lesson from the temple and try not to preach to people and build a genuine connection, don't be jealous that people are exited to attend a temple and experience the food and culture of a beautiful people more so than your church. read more

I can't believe I just recently discovered this church. It was just right for my taste. I loved everything from their sermons to the worshipping (singing). I normally feel awkward at the other "modern churches" when they are jumping around while singing. Here they actually have an old school Choir and Hymn books and now for the first time, I am looking forward to attending the "worship service" when at other churches I didn't really mind if I was late and missed the singing part.
