The Attorney You Don't Want On Your Side My case was mishandled, neglected, had little to no communications by Mr. Ciyou and his staff. This is just a short synopsis of all the issues that were not handled appropriately by Mr. Ciyou and his staff. Mr. Ciyou builds this hype and excitement of his experience and appellate work on what potentially can be done with your case, however, delivered on nothing. He managed to file with the court a new address and a continuance, of which was denied. That is all he accomplished and billed for over $8,000.00. I paid an initial retainer of $5,000.00 of which he charges a credit card fee too. I was billed for services that were improperly done or promised they would be done and were never completed. Mr. Ciyou or staff billed me for discussions of motions and requests we agreed would be filed or addressed and they were never filed or addressed. We had several discussions about steps we would proceed with and those never happened. They literally bill for a brief approximate three minute phone call asking for him, if he's available, and we were on hold during this time. His staff guaranteed several times on phone calls and emails they would follow-up with me regarding matters and never did. Numerous times he claimed he was too busy to speak with me or address concerns. He left rude voicemails that he would quit, because I had questions over a motion. He admitted several times during our discussions he was unprepared and did not know the facts. He failed to address matters and evidence that were requested with the concerned parties. He filed a motion for a continuance approximately two weeks before trial of which he had reviewed the docket well in advance and had due notice of the events. He failed to review crucial evidence he was provided by me. There was serious flaws also in his billing practices and procedures. He was constantly absent minded and acted clueless about my case at times. His communication was terrible and my case was pretty much left abandoned. Phone calls and emails were never returned, even ones where he requested answers were never returned. He provided very little if no updates unless prompted regarding my case until approximately two weeks before trial. He constantly threatens to quit. His staff was very rude and condescending during the management of my case. Nobody was thorough in their work including him. Investigations were not done, evidence not addressed, due dilegance was not a common theme with them regarding urgent matters. His staff never had any idea of what Mrs. Ciyou was doing and at times. I was left guessing most of the time on the status of my case and if he had even looked at it or evidence he was given that was crucial. He did not follow-up with involved court appointed parties who called to speak with him. He had access to reports that he never reviewed. He never sent me any billing information until he resigned and then wanted more money. He did not even follow his own contract regarding the length of time on his resignation. The best part is approximately seven days before trial he demanded $20,000.00 or he was resigning. And that motion he filed that he was withdrawing to the court, surprisingly had my contact address wrong on the motion to the court, I guess that motion to correct my address really paid off well.... I would highly not recommend him unless you want to be left in a state of perpetual confusion, chaos, and drained of every dollar you have.
