Got my haircut ~ a year ago, loved the service. It is time for a trim so I selected a time 2 weeks out and didn't get a response until a few days before saying the appointment request was denied because of unavailability. I selected another time & that was also rejected. I then texted the business number and cell number to see if there is another available time to schedule as I am having difficulty getting into her books. I initially got a response but nothing about available times, and then i didn't hear from her again. So unfortunately I won't be going back since it has been so difficult to even try to get onto the schedule or communicate. read more

I had been natural for years and it was time to "do something different" with my hair. It was thinning and not growing very much. I had no real clue what would work for me. From day one I texted her and she was prompt at answering ALL of my questions even the annoying insecure questions. She even asked me for pics of my hair to get an idea of what she would be working with she asked me to find hair ideas to see where I was trying to go. Fresh hair for 2017! Third time having my hair cut & styled by Callie. I have fine, curly-kinky hair with a mix of textures and I hadn't had a cut in 10 months! She did such a great job to get it back to a healthier state. Each time she gives me helpful tips about my hair (and life), and teaches me something new. She asks each step of the way if something is okay, is really willing to work with you and your hair, and is very honest about what your hair can and can't do -- and if you need to perhaps work over several months to get it be styled in the manner you wish. She is also very adamant about not rushing through your hair, which I appreciate. Also, I suggest calling rather than texting-- my calls and/or messages we always answered or returned. You don't text the doctor's office or somewhere else when you want an appointment. read more

I've been way too slow writing this review but I went to Callie back in December 2019 for a haircut (I have natural curly hair; 3b/3c depending on who you ask). I brought in a variety of pictures showing Callie what I was looking for and the cut she gave me was exactly what I wanted. I have curly bangs and she even gave me a little tutorial on how to cut my curls so that I could do my own bangs-maintenance between visits. Go to Callie for a haircut if you want an experience that feels like a collaboration between you and your hair cutter! She is awesome. read more

Well after reading the other reviews, I thought I'd found the perfect hairdresser for my wavy curly hair, so I wasn't too put off by the fact that Callie did not return my two phone messages re: setting up an appointment. I finally made an appointment on line, but even though I'd left several questions in the appropriate space on her Web site, I didn't get any response back. I was still excited about getting a trim for my hair which I'd FINALLY grown out to below my shoulders. I'd been very careful with my hair, and it was in good condition, but definitely needed shaping. I spoke with Callie for about 5-10 minutes, and I made it very clear that I wanted a TRIM only, but agreed that we could layer it some in the back, which is where she started. I'm going to cut to the chase - she butchered me. My hair is now just below my ears, and shorter by an inch on one side! The layers on top of my head are maybe 2-3 inches, and one side is noticeably thinner, since she over-layered it. She spent a long time cutting it dry, then cutting it again wet, and yet she never once held out the two sides to see if they were even. My friends advised me to go back and have her even it out, but I was truly afraid she'd leave me with a pixie cut. On top of all this, she sold me products that she said were consistent with the Curly Girl method, but after carefully reading the ingredients at home, I discovered they contained sulfates and silicones, both giant no-nos for curly hair. I had used one product, so didn't feel I should take it back, even though it leaves my hair very gummy, but she was not pleasant about my returns of the shampoo and conditioner, and tried to get me to buy something else instead. Not a day has gone by since I was there a month ago, that I don't struggle to make my hair look even, and not dorky. It took me 3 years to get my hair to the length and condition I wanted, and she ruined all that in half an hour. The only reason I'm giving her one star, is because she's in my neighborhood and I could walk there. read more

I went to this salon in May to get a haircut. The girl I had the appointment with, Callie, was absolutely wonderful. She was very welcoming and had such a great personality. I was a bit weary of getting my hair cut as I have rather long hair and I was afraid that it would be cut too short and I'd end up really disliking my hair. That simply did not happen. She really made sure to cut my hair to the length that I like. She even had me stand up to get a clear view of where I wanted my hair. Callie was amazing. I brought a friend with me and she was also so amazed at Callie's care to make sure I was happy that she said she plans to get her haircut there as well. Slam your laptop lid down right now. Go see Callie. Seriously. Like NOW. I have worn my hair naturally curly for many years and never been able to find a stylist who knew how to cut it properly. So I resorted to cutting it myself which over the years has left me with a shapeless limp mess of curls. Callie spent so much time with me. She plays with your hair for a while to see how it falls, the condition it's in, how does your scalp look, etc. She asks you what you are hoping for with your cut, what your styling regimen is, and really gets to know you. She cuts hair dry which was a first for me but she could really see how each section of my hair behaved when doing so. After the cut I got a good wash and she took extra time to show me how to style my hair with various scrunching techniques (she also takes time to tell you what NOT to do in order to avoid frizz, damage, etc.). She counseled me on products, coloring techniques and answered tons of questions that I had. In the end I left with these amazing bouncy, springy, healthy curls that I was actually able to reproduce on my own thanks the all the tips and techniques she showed me. I will return to see her as long as she is in business. Callie has curly hair herself and seems to really specialize in it - which is hard to find. I wish I could give her 10 stars. I also wanted to mention when I went in a mom was sitting in the cutting chair holding her 3 year old son while Callie cut the boy's hair. The little guy was screaming his lungs out and I don't know how Callie managed to get any work done (but she was totally unfazed). Then Tommy (the other stylist) calmly walks over with his Iphone which has Angry Birds pulled up and hands to the little boy. Magically there is silence as the kid goes limp and plays Angry Birds for the duration of his haircut. Seriously who would sacrifice the safety of their iphone for a good kid's haircut? ANDREW! I'm currently tearing up a little bit as I write this; I owe this man everything. I called Andrew today desperately trying to find a hair dresser to untangle the biggest rats nest in my hair from a weekend of chlorine, high altitude, and no conditioner and he fit my in right be before closing. He worked on my hair 2 HOURS past closing, and by the end had transformed it from literally one giant dreadlocks back to healthy, beautifully-trimmed hair. He was so kind, patient, and as gentle as one could be when trying to salvage any of the hair from the back of my head. He was evidently extremely knowledgable and skilled about how to cut and transform my hair, but also just a great person to talk to in general. Definitely will be going back there again for a regular cut or to try anything else he recommends. He is a savior. read more

I have extremely fine hair that is curly (but not that nice spring up super curly...more of a relaxed curl) so I have always had issues with volume and never really knew how to handle my hair. I had previously been going to Pure which now moved to Causeway Blvd so obviously not going there anymore. I tried this one and it was great. I went in Tommy asked me what I wanted, what kind of lifestyle I lead (ie how much time do I spend on my hair), and then discussed the things that would work well with my hair. I have fine straight to wavy hair so we decided on a soft lob w layers and a nice side bang that I could style straight or I could gently curl or pull back for work outs. Tommy Hall at CL2 Hair Studio is an amazing and talented stylist. I have short, curly-ish and especially fine hair - fine not thin, and million weird cowlicks. The reality is for a lot of us curly heads, its easy to get a bad haircut. Not because stylists are bad, but curly hair is its own thing. And many stylists don't realize their techniques not only don't work for us, but make our hair just wrong - like point-cutting, texturizing or just not paying attention to the way the curls lie on our head. When he said "Its not about cutting it even, its about balance," I had feeling I had found my stylist after 2 years of searching. My previous beloved stylist of 10 years had retired to raise a family much to my sadness. I know I got a great haircut when after six weeks it looks even better. Its been two months and I am so happy with my hair, I'm writing this review. Callie is THE best hairdresser! I had struggled with different hairdressers for years and finally decided to try out someone new. I had been dying my hair black but I was trying to go back to my natural hair color, light brown, which my previous hairdressers completely butchered. Callie actually listened to me and what I wanted, taking it all into consideration. She cut and colored my hair PERFECTLY. Not only was I able to actually see my natural hair color for the first time in years but she blended my natural color with the remaining bits of black. I have never been so happy with my hair in my life! She gave me killer layers too. I constantly get complimented on the cut. She also styled it beautifully, I felt like a new person afterwards. I have been back 3-4 times and have been completely 100% satisfied each time. Callie also uses really great products that work with my thick and wavy hair rather than fight it. I even buy the shampoo from her because I love it so much. Callie also takes the time to explain each product she uses and why she uses it, so you know exactly what is going in your hair. Absolutely the best haircut/treatment that I have ever had in my life! At least 3 years ago I had a keratin relaxing treatment done, which completely ruined and damaged my curls to beyond repair. Not only was I left with pretty much dried and dead hair, I lost my curl pattern.Since then I have been trying to revive it on my own scramming through every product and recommendation from every single curly hair blog, youtube video, and websites; which to my luck did nothing. Until Callie did her magic and created a miracle. Compared to what I thought will be permanent damage, I saw my hair come back from the dead and it was also looking more luscious then it did before the damage. Not only were the results astonishing, but the service was relaxing and friendly! Usually I hate going to stylist because you normally come out with all your hair gone and a hair duo that you were to nice not to say anything about. But Callie was very sweet and down to earth. She also made sure that I was okay with the length that I felt comfortable with. I gave it a few days since my hair cut with Callie at CL2. I don't know what it is, but it always takes my curls a few days to settle and find their stride again. But with this cut, it looked amazing the moment I walked out her door, and is still looking great! It had been too long since my last cut, and my confidence had really taken a beating. I feel like strutting around everywhere with this new 'do! Even more than that, she was really gracious about the fact that I was 20 minutes late for my appointment, staying late to finish it up. And she charged a very reasonable price for all the time she put into it. She also gave me all kinds of great advice about how to take care of my hair and products that she likes (without pushing me to buy anything). It was such a pleasant experience.
