Finding a kennel and Cattery that is of high quality where your pets become their pets when you leave them, where you feel comfortable that you have chosen well and where your sadness on leaving an animal is understood with empathy is not easy to find, to find one which can cater for an animal that has medical (oops I mean veterinary ) needs and is happy to accommodate those special needs to the full is probably nye impossible, but it is here that Burnedge Kennels and Cattery near Rochdale excel.
Out of our three cats and Doris our French bulldog most establishments would have their hands full, but our oldest cat has had diabetes for the last 6 years and now aged 15 when things need an even closer watch it was even more important that he received his exact INSULIN INJECTIONS at a regular time each day, coupled to this his dietary needs required more than a close eye, they need adjusting as well depending on the cat's demeanour.
We were away visiting our daughter and grandkids in Australia for four weeks, previously it has been five weeks so this was not a short stay boarding and it was important that we could entrust our animals to a team of people who cared as much on the last day as they did on the first. Burnedge is run by Leslie and Martin Pattison and supported by a young team that fall over to be kind. Your animals are in a heated environment at night, have shelter at all times if weather inclement and the cats have their own natural bright airy space heated by Calor and with their own radio, oh, and a human keeping them company most of the times, as for your dogs, as Doris was to find out a fenced safe large grass paddock was available to run off the energy, play with their human and generally have a ball, and this happened more than once a day.
But a business can be judged on several things, cleanliness, this place is impeccably clean, during visiting/drop off hours you can surprise them any time and the place is still clean, the staff devoted and Martin and Leslie are the consummate professionals, you would want this, your (and mine) animals demand it.
Given that this establishment go that extra mile to accommodate an animals total welfare is obvious but for us the proof was in the pudding when our cat half way through its stay developed hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar and the scourge of diabetes control) it comes out of the blue and needs a calm head, Theo our cat delivered this curved spanner in the works to Martin one morning, but thanks to calm heads prompt attention and the quickest appointment at the vets I have ever known the cat responded, suitably checked and medicated and with a little extra TLC was soon back to fine fettle, its that what this cattery and kennels bring, a sense or pragmatic reassurance at a time when leaving your animals causes sadness and worry, Burnedge's team bring that reassurance.
