This father & son operation assisted with our mortgage process and, after three months of sporadic contact with them (dictated by the various stages of property buying/selling) I'm on the fence about these guys.
Yes, it is often the case that a mortgage deal may go down to the wire and ours was a touch and go effort itself, picking up the keys some 5 hours after we were supposed to and a good half hour after the deadline - luckily they often work late and Clancy's so we swooped round after closing time to get our keys, but like I say, this was lucky.
The communication throughout the process was nowhere near what we would have deemed acceptable for a mortgage solicitor. Almost every email we sent them had to be chased and there was very little in the form of pro-activity. This was particularly evident on a long and stressful deadline day, where we would have expected regular updates, even if there was NO update, to assuage our fraying nerves.
Obviously we appreciate they have other clients, but even the busiest solicitors shouldn't have any excuses for not being organised. Just OK for me - too much reaction, not enough pro-activity. read more
