The great thing about the centre is it belongs to the Courtney's group so you can also use their other gyms around London. The membership is such a bargain it's not funny, the only downside is that there isn't a lot of floor space, you kind of have to find your area if you're stretching or doing sit ups. Apart from that there are more than enough cardio machines - rowers, steppers, bikes, treadmills and the good old freestyler. And a good selection of weight machines and singular weights. The instructors are always hanging around ready to supply some tips or a good chat, whatever your needs are, and when you're done in the gym you can go for a swim or take a class with the ultimate membership.

I literally arrived at 9:29pm and they would not let me in to use the treadmill for 30 minutes (even though I live down the street and workout there 3-4 days a week). Not only that, but they were extremely rude to me. A "there's no way we will let you in" type of attitude. I was disgusted and am reconsidering renewing my membership.

I mostly used the swimming pool and hire the badminton courts a few times. To hire the courts, it's quite cheap, it might of changed now but it was around a tenner between two people for 2 hours. Not bad... It's usually quite quiet on a Sunday afternoon. The swimming pool is a really good size. However, the pool gets really busy with Mums and babies in the afternoon so I'd suggest going in the morning or the evening. I liked this place. It's got a nice family feel but isn't always hugely busy which is a nice change as most London gyms can be pretty heaving more of the time. A nice, cheap alternative to the bigger, corporate gyms...

Very irresponsible management team. The swimming pool water is murky and because it's very popular with young children, you'd find pieces left behind to swim through. Half shower's locks broken, holes in partitioning walls. I tolerated it for a while just because I live nearby, now moved to a different leisure centre, different company, much happier, never stepped in Latchmere centre (or any DC centre) ever again.

The football pitch outside is great, I play a couple of times a week, it's very difficult to find a good 3G pitch to play on and this is as good as anywhere I have played before. Not sure what made me think they'd give us money off for enduring months of noise and disruptive building works. Oh well, the promise of no joining fee if you signed up before it was ready ... less community than commerce, hey ho. It's taken them a while to get going, the fitness class schedule is still patchy and it's annoying that you can't just turn up and pay as you as like you used to. OK, on to the positives. It's been open for several years now and it still looks fantastic. As I live 2 minutes away I don't normally use their changing rooms - until last night. My heating stopped working in the current cold spell (worst timing ever!) and I decided to make use of their showers. Back to the good old days ... the original pools replaced Victorian baths! I warmed up with a dance aerobics class which was great fun - wish I wasn't always so busy on Thursday nights, more Latin freestyle than strict routines put a smile on everyone's face. ... and the changing rooms were a pleasant surprise, clean and white and spacious with warm showers. Enough lockers to go around (make sure you take a £1 coin!) and decent hair dryers. I am truly impressed - Better deserves its name after all.

I was in pain and one of my colleagues who comes here regularly told me they are great here. The osteopath who is taking care of me (Andrew) is really nice and does listen to you and try to distract you from the pain when manipulating your body. He has also been able to give me thorough advice and even email me further suggestions. Anyway, every time i go there, i am drawn to the big glass wall and stare at the outdoor swimming pool. I realised last week that there is also an indoor swimming pool! Generally speaking, the place looks clean and well maintained and all the members of staff i have spoken to are friendly. Hopefully i'll be able to check the facilities further soon and will update this review

LONG-TIME MEMBER, NOW DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED…read more I've been a loyal David Lloyd member for years, but today I feel angry, hurt, and unsafe. Two weeks ago, my husband's racing bike was stolen from right outside the entrance of David Lloyd Finchley. We reported it immediately. Managers promised to check CCTV and follow up but we've had zero contact since. No updates, no accountability. This isn't a one-off. Friends have had wallets stolen, lockers broken into, even cars targeted. Every year, our membership price increases we now pay over £300/month yet basic security is ignored and the gyms are overcrowded and oversubscribed. I never thought I'd say this, but I no longer feel safe in a space I once loved. I'm seriously considering cancelling. If this can happen to my husband, it can happen to anyone. We deserve better. I paused my membership some time ago due to having life-saving surgery. Despite some time having…read morepassed, I am unable to return to the gym. I emailed them months ago to cancel my membership. I waited over a month to receive a reply. The reply was not acceptance of my cancellation, but rather a demand for medical notes to prove my surgery. My membership length was well over the 12 month contract, so I do not actually need permission to cancel. I assumed it was an oversight, and maybe they just didn't check. I replied advising as such. Another month goes by, and I finally get a reply. Again, not confirmation of cancellation, but a demand for three months' worth of payments. In this time, I was also advised by a third party that their prices had increased significantly. At no point was this communicated to me, nor was I given any opportunity to cancel my membership before said increases took effect. A clear failure in process that, judging from the other reviews here, is a running problem for them. At this point, some three months after my request to cancel, my membership remains active. Avoid!
