This is an amazing place for swimming. First off you are greeted by always-warm changing rooms, this never changes and is so good when you come off the street cold and don't relish going straight from being cold into a coolish pool. Then the whole place has been refurbished very recently, so its all nice and clean and new with a good colour scheme and decent sized lockers. Before the swim, there are the showers, which are fine, they don't have adjustable temperature and are push button ones so not the most convenient, but for hassle free showers, they do a good job, usually a fine temperature. Then the main event... The pool is great, it is a good length (30.5m) and has a really deep end (3m) so it just says this is a 'proper' mature pool. You can swim, dive or just paddle and mess around if you like. They operate a 3 wide lane system, which also is great, so you aren't constantly worried about oncoming traffic knocking into you accidentally. The pool is chlorinated, but somehow manages to not be overwhelmingly so. You don't notice it basically, unlike some other pools that I've been to (no names). It can get busy of a week day evening, around 6pm, but if you stick to later evenings and weekends, it is usually pretty quiet and many times I've had a whole lane to myself (particularly after 8pm evenings and later on the weekends (it closes at 8pm which is cool too)). I would say this is just a no-nonsense, good looking, well organised, clean place to swim, which seems to get most things right - good pool temp (not too hot), good shower temp, good reception staff and spacious lanes to swim. Its amazing how enjoyable a swim can be when things just all seem right, and how when they aren't right, you can't motivate yourself to bother going. But this place... its motivation enough, you'll be coming back again and again. So glad I found it. read more
