The Funeral was done so beautifully and was so very meaningful. The attention to detail was outstanding and the respect they showed to us all was truly remarkable. All of my family and friends who attended commented on how beautiful the service was and the send off my father had will always leave a mark on my heart. Arnos Vale cemetery absolutely fascinates me - its war memorials, elaborate tombs of Indian maharaja and big Cliftonite family mauseleoums. There's nowt creepy about it - with butterflies and birds and flowers growing over everything. They're even buidling a multi-million pound new glass visitor centre and restoring all the Grade II listed monuments that are dotted about the place. You can get lost for several hours in amongst the stones. The vale is great for stretching your legs and broadening your historical knowledge, and close enough to Bath rd, the Paintworks and Banco lounge for a quick drink afterwards if you fancy it.

There is something quite absorbing about being able to read snippets of people's lives, try and work out what they might have been like, the plot thickens when you sometimes find connected people buried side by side. I never did the whole grave yard at night thing in my teenage years, but I would certainly recommend a visit in the day should you be that neck of the woods.

Opened in 1874, just under 3000 mostly forgotten souls rest here in the Mendip Hospital Cemetery, burial ground of the old Somerset County Pauper Lunatic Asylum. Situated in a beautiful wooded valley on the edge of Wells, the cemetery is a haven of peace and tranquility. Birds and wildlife are found in abundance. The grass is cut each year in early autumn to encourage seeds to set and wild flowers to flourish. In the chapel you will find original maps and plans of the hospital and an exhibition about the history of the hospital and its burial ground.

However, all that changed when my order was not picked and ready on the day of my 30th Birthday party. "We do not have an order for your party", I was told when I arrived to collect my decorations. Disappointed was an understatement. No apology. Complete rudeness. And in no way wanting to put the problem right. Employed staff who have no idea how to mange a situation!!! Just had a drain problem sorted by Dyno-Rod, Bristol. After reading various awful reviews on other…read moresites for other DR branches I was beginning to wonder what I had let myself in for. How wrong can one be ? Initial call out was same day and blockage cleared without fuss. Camera up the pipe revealed broken sewer pipe. Signed mandate giving DR authority to deal with our insures directly. DR's back office are appalling and I had to chase all the way. However, and this is the best bit, on the appointed day 2 guys arrived to carry out the repair which involved re-routing the drain. The job took 3 days and for the first 2, it didn't stop raining! Anyway the 2 of them just kept on going and going. The result.... a superb job by 2 of the best I have come across for a long time. I have no vested interest in giving them a good review but feel the record needs to be a balanced one. ps Not sure the address is right, I think they may be based at Cribbs Causeway now.
