I would not shop at this store that says they are warm and welcoming. My experience of just recent…read morewas far from warm and welcoming. The ladies working the store on a Saturday evening were more interested in their "smoke break" than business. Rude. And, who wants to walk thru your smoke to shop. Fine you want to smoke but it shouldn't be a cloud as I try to enter your shop. At least go around the side of the store. I was interested to take a look and possibly shop until I had to deal with this. Do better.

BUYERS BEWARE,,,Placed on online order for an item (Needohs) on preorder on March 7th that stated…read moreit would be available in 2-3 weeks. It's been 2 months now and I have attempted to cancel my preorder for the 2nd time. The store owner states that its not possible and I am at the mercy of whenever the manufacturer can catch up to orders. She did offer me a store credit if I paid a 20% restocking fee. What she would restock I don't know she she doesn't have the actual item! She sent me an email today (5/12) that my item will possibly be shipped to her between 4/23 and 6/24 . She was quick to point out that those dates might not be accurate and it could take even more than the almost 4 months I would be waiting if she received the shipment by 6/24. The webpage for the item has a section that states: PRE ORDER NOTICE - PLEASE READ, yet she conveniently left out the fact that you cannot cancel a preorder for a refund out of that section. Customers should not have to look at the return policy link to find out that pre-order cancellations have a separate return policy. That should have been clearly stated in the listing. It's safe to say I will never be purchasing anything from this website again

I have to echo all of the great reviews here. I have been a loyal customer of Vert & Vogue for the…read morelast few years. Nadia, Ryan, and the rest of the staff are truly amazing in terms of their warmth, intelligence, and exceedingly good taste. They are committed to keeping loyal customers who are happy and keep returning, as opposed to strong-arming you into buying something that you will fall out of love with soon after purchasing. The clothes are very high quality and you will pay for the quality. Because of that, I initially thought I would be getting one or two "special" shirts to add to my wardrobe. But then I found these were the only two shirts I wore. They were comfortable, great patterns, a modern fit, and went well with a wide variety of other pants, sweaters, jackets, etc. (The staff are wonderful at suggesting ways to get multiple looks or outfits out of a few pieces, making things much more economical.) I've since bought (or was given) shirts, pants, and jackets. They've all been outstanding. And after several longer trips (including one to Europe), I've come to appreciate how well-suited V&V clothes are for travel: lightweight, durable, easy to hand wash and drip dry, and hip. Give them a try. Worst case, you'll end up spending some time with the delightful staff in a beautiful store right in our neighborhood. Best case, you'll leave with a piece or two that will become a staple for you, whether you're at Fullsteam, the office, or in Bavaria.

Nadia and staff were delightful. They showed me sweaters that they thought would wear well on me…read moreand we're very honest about what they thought. I will go back again soon!

So I had to see for myself what was drawing all these people in. William welcomed me when I walked in, asked what I normally read, and let me know there was an upstairs as well, with more books. I did just stay on the first floor this visit, but I was so impressed by their beautifully curated inventory. They carry a wonderful selection of new fiction, poetry, children's books, and used books, along with fascinating sections on art, music, and nonfiction. They even had a discount section with books priced at $3.98 or less, which is incredible! They also have dedicated topic tables that highlight local North Carolina authors and underrepresented voices, which is wonderful to see. I found some board books to donate to the Little Free Library I was at the other day. If you've been reading my reviews for a while now, you know I love history and the architecture of older buildings being reused. It is an inclusive store, so everyone is welcome. It is a community-owned cooperative bookstore. The 1915 building, originally home to Merchants Bank, was built after the 1914 fire in Durham. It is a Neoclassical Revival-style building with massive, majestic Ionic columns that define its street-facing storefront. It later became Hood Industrial Bank and was then used for businesses like Letters. Letters opened back in 2013 at a nearby location and moved into its current space in 2021. I wish I had gone to the second floor to see the stained glass ceiling. So that just means I will need to make another shopping visit. I need to give myself more time so I can find something for me to read next time.

Also, easy-to-use online search, and when I don't find something, it's easy to request an order and receive a quick response. Have also taken many books to see if they would accept for store credit. Honestly, just happy to support them!
