After a year with my dog , and many failed training programs from other companies not related to this one, I found Amanda with a final desperate attempt to train my dog because I knew there was potential. I had wasted a lot of money and was nervous to begin another program, but after my first call with Amanda I knew this was going to be different. She was encouraging and engaging, asking detailed questions about my dog and her behavior. Our first session began immediately tailored to my dog's needs and within a week I saw improvements. If you know dachshunds, you know how difficult training them can be. Amanda accepted the challenge without hesitation and proved that idea to be wrong, she made the training easy and motivating. She worked with myself to better understand how I can set my dog up for success rather than failure. Two weeks in, my dog was entirely different in the very best way possible. She introduced new techniques and worked with each challenge my dog faced to ensure she overcame it. I cannot say enough good things about the program. Don't waste your time on a basic training program elsewhere. In the end you're only cutting corners that will harm your dog down the road. She showed me that the phrase "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" is NOT true, as long as you don't give up!! Amanda will provide you with skills to ensure yourself and your dog live the happiest lives. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone I know.

Sending our dog Loki to Refined Canines was the best decision we could've made as dog owners. Our…read moreone year old, spunky little pup always gave us trouble on the leash. He would want to say hello to every dog that walked near or far, and if he wasn't able to, he would jump, cry, bark, and pull causing a scene. My husband and I read countless blogs, watched hundreds of Youtube videos, bought all kinds of harnesses/ leashes etc., and even sent him to another professional -- but it was never enough or fixed the problem. We were referred to Pam and Darin by a good friend and finally decided to give Pam a call. Right off the bat, after our first phone discussion, I knew this was exactly what we needed, so we decided to move ahead with the board and train. Having Loki gone for an extended amount of time was definitely hard, but I knew he would be a happier & better dog. We've had him back for a few weeks now and I can't even express enough how happy I am with the results. Being able to take him for walks, or bring him out in crowded public spaces always seemed so unattainable, but it's something we can now do with him... with ease. Loki now looks towards us for direction, and its almost like we have an open line of communication with one another, much more clearly than in the past. He's still his quirky self, just much more obedient. If you are someone who is contemplating what to do, I highly recommend making that call. And not to mention, Darin & Pam are awesome to work with. They know exactly what they are doing and are always available if you need them. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

If you are reading this, your search for dog training stops here. This is the place you need and…read morethey will change your life! This sounds a little over the top BUT I'm not lying. I tell our trainers Katie and Nicole all of the time that they are life savers. We brought our puppy here at 1 years old - a small wild, energetic Jack Russell who knew every time I was on a video meeting to bark his head off and embarrass me EVERY TIME! Walks were out of the question since he would pull on the leash to the point he would choke himself... sitting on the deck was a nightmare in our own backyard because he would bark at the wind (yes, the wind), the leaves moving, the birds and obviously the neighbors. Does this sound familiar? I questioned my decision of getting a puppy and then I found Max K9. We did a 3 week Board & Train where I was super hesitant of dropping him off (because no one wants to leave their baby anywhere), but they were so good with sending video progress and pictures and including my husband and I in the process. I joke with everyone that I think they implanted a program into his brain! Lol! The transformation was unreal. We were instantly able to communicate with him and actually go on a walk.. outside in the real world. What a breath of fresh air, literally! Max K9 has given us the ability to live an active lifestyle and have our pup enjoy it with us. Hikes, traveling, morning walks, trips to the store, brewery visits, long car rides out of state... you name it. I would do it all over again if I had to without a question. So if you've made it this far, thanks for reading. I hope this helps you make your decision to having a better relationship with your pup and enjoying life with them every step of the way.

I am SO thankful for Sherry at Maximum K9. I don't know if I can put into words how helpful she has…read morebeen in training our Stormie. Stormie is a rescue who we adopted in 2019 and underwent 2 surgeries in 2021 due to bilateral CCL surgery. She was cooped up for an extended amount of time during recovery. We were unable to take her outside without her reacting to other dogs and sometimes even people. Stormie even gave us difficulty when we wanted to go for a short walk. It was so frustrating and difficult taking her out in public that we needed help. We have heard of Maximum K9 from many of our friends and even the great reviews I've seen on dog groups and online. I called to inquire about the types of training (group vs. individual) and it was clear that we needed to take private lessons. We signed up for a package of 6 lessons with Sherry that were one hour long for 6 consecutive weeks. Our first day, Sherry got to know about Stormie's behaviors - positive and negative, what we were having difficulty with and what our goals were. Sherry worked with us each week when training Stormie (and me) on how to modify or progress a skill. We learned how to heel, which we never were taught from another trainer elsewhere, and the importance of heel. We were given homework on what to practice from the training sessions to continue our work outside of the facility. Sherry helped Stormie become less dog reactive in a safe manner at Maximum K9. Stormie was slowly exposed to the board and train dogs in the facility that had various levels of size and temperament. Each week, Stormie learned how to follow her commands and not react to different dogs. With Sherry's consistent training, Stormie was able to heel with me in a circle with other dogs and sit next to them without any reaction at all. I cannot find the words to thank Sherry for helping Stormie and myself. I came into Maximum K9 with Stormie trying to pull my arm off and reacting to dogs in the lobby to now leaving with my arm back intact and her in a nice heel. I will refer all my dog lovers and friends to Maximum K9 and Sherry going forward! Thank you again!

My dog is not the easiest dog to work and Sal promised that we'd be able to trial the following year. Instead, I saw my dog get worse and worse in protection and start picking up bad habits. During the summer of 2025, Sal formed an IGP club called "Unity K9 Schutzhund Group". This club was marketed to myself and other members as a nonprofit club to be affiliated with USCA. Our dues went directly to Sal's personal account and no nonprofit status nor USCA affiliation was ever issued. Dues were required to be prepaid at the beginning of the month in full. Sal often cancelled club lessons, citing weather and car troubles as his excuses. There was no alternate lessons (virtual or in person) offered as a make up. Since the monies were going directly to Sal, we were considered his clients and he had an obligation to provide services, which he often did not. I ended up leaving Unity K9 Schutzhund Club in spring 2026 and terminated my working relationship with Sal. Not every trainer is going to be the right fit for every dog. Sal's misleading communication with his clients and expectations is disappointing. Sal has continued to threaten me regarding bad reviews written by others about their experience with him and my own bad experience.
