One thing that bothered me a bit more than anything else was that a fresh blade was not used when cleaning up around the edges and my neck. Pricing was good, and while I personally feel that this is what standard pricing for haircuts should be, I also recognize that most places are significantly pricier so I appreciate this reasonable pricing. I agree with some previous posts that this is far from a classic barber shop and I didn't know I would be getting a haircut by an Asian lady. Although she is nice and I'm not racist in any way, I didn't fully understand her. When asked about how I normally have my hair cut, she proceeded to give me a "scalp" with very little left that resembled how I typically wear my hair. I took my late mother's widower here for a haircut and they not only handled his hair, which is a feat in and of itself as it's like cutting hair made from copper fiber, but they trimmed his eyebrows, again a feat all its own as it is the same wiry copper stands as his hair, just of a thicker gauge and they made him look good in the process! Then to top it off, they did something I wouldn't be caught dead doing--- his ear and nose hair. God bless them. It was intriguing to watch as they styled other clients using techniques and methods that harken back to a bygone era but with modern tools and products. It's easy to find people at the bottom spectrum of their field but it is rare to find someone operating at the upper echelon. I took my son for a trim. I asked in advance if they did children, and was told that they did. I specifically asked the gentleman cutting not to mess with the top and to just TRIM the sides and back. He absolutely scalped my son, and that is the least of the issues with this haircut. I was so put off by the amount of hair that was left on the floor that I didn't even notice the hack job on the sides and the back. And I mean hack job! The back was a crooked bowl cut with at least two nearly bald patches where the clippers went wonky. My kid is small, but he sat perfectly still so I do want to hear any nonsense about this being the fault of a wiggly boy. He also sat perfectly still yesterday for another stylist who fixed his hair. There is absolutely no excuse for the haircut we received. Of note, while we were having his hair repaired at a local salon that caters to children, another stylist asked me who did that to my son's hair. When I told her "Classic Barber Shop in Cary," she said "Yep. I just fixed another little boy yesterday from the same shop. They have no business working on kids. read more

Funny. The two (former) barbers featured in the shop picture both left well over 5 years ago and now work at the Grumpy Barbers. They were great. This shop is run by Tracy, who I have witnessed mess up many haircuts due to lack of balance or lack of focus. More interested in telling you his opinions than cutting hair. Very misleading place, it calls itself the Classic barbershop, when you find there is two nice ladies doing very comercial hair cuts, even worse than Great Clips. They try to be polite and make conversation, the typical hair cut interviews about your life, but they have no idea what a Barber Shop should be, you should change your name to express hair cuts instead of classic barber shop. read more

This is nice and clean place but this is not a good place for hair styling. The owner Tracy Gregory does not know to give style to your hair. Mistake can happen with anyone but every time same mistake not acceptable. He can cut the hair for the people with little hair. If you have dense hair or you are not bold headed DONOT let him give you a hair cut. read more

My husband took my son to get his hair cut here. He brought in a picture and physically showed her how long he wanted the top to be. My son walked out of there with nothing close to what he had asked for and his hair so short we can't correct it. Been there about 6x. Have had Sarah 5x, and Matt this past Saturday. Never had Tracy but it's been because of the 'luck of the draw' when walking in. That said, I'm from NY and have been to quite a number of barbers .. on Long Island, a bunch in NYC as well as Queens. These guys rank at the top of this list, Sarah and Matt (and from everything I hear, Tracy) are all A barbers. Whenever I walk into a chain place here in the Raleigh area I always wonder what I'm going to get, but I've never have had a questionable experience here. What's amusing about it too .. They have a cult following and these reviews are hardly going to make any difference. Had a good haircut the first time and I thought of selecting it as a regular spot. It was still about 3 hours before closing the next time I went there. I usually have to plan in advance because of work schedule and other appointments. It turned out that due to some holidays, the staff had collectively decided to leave early. There were a few others who also walked in only to be turned away. The staff were still in the shop at the time but said they wouldn't be doing any more haircuts for the day. It would have been nice to at least put this information on the site. If not that, then perhaps extend an apology, but for them it seemed like a casual affair ... . Also, going by the feedback on Yelp, it seems that the location has mixed reviews. I was going to give it the benefit of the doubt, but after the last experience, it's probably not merited. There are other places with far more personable service where you don't have to be an old-time regular to get appropriate service. read more

Yeah don't go to this place. I was very specific with the length I needed and the lady butchered me. It'll be 2 months before I need another haircut. In addition I gave her $26 for a $16 haircut and she wasn't going to give me change until I asked for it. Was there this morning and chose to take the first available chair to avoid the wait time. Mia introduced herself explained she was new to the shop and asked how I wanted my hair cut. She actually asked about several things about style and length as she moved through the process. Nia has skillz! The cut was even in length and done exactly as I wanted. I visited Classic Barber Shop for the first time after living in Apex for about a year. I did my research and read great reviews and decided to give them a shot. I walked in and was greeted by Sarah. She did an excellent job on cutting my hair and trimming my beard. I am very particular on how I like my hair and she took her time and stopped to get my opinion several times. You could really tell she knew what she was doing. While she was cutting my hair one of her regulars walked in and she greeted him by name. I naturally expected her to speed up cutting my hair so that she could move on but she did not. Check the dates on these reviews. I wish I had. In the first week of March after just moving to the area I searched out a new barber. When I arrived they put me in an Asian lady's chair. Unfortunately the only mirrors are behind you but after a few minutes I thought she was taking far more than I had instructed off of the sides. If you like high and tight this is the place. If you are after a regular/normal haircut beware. I'm now ready for another haircut (June 12, 2017). When was the last time you went 3 1/2 months between haircuts BECAUSE you didn't need one. If you like it short....great experience. If you want a regular hair cut try somewhere else....that's what I'm doing. read more
