I've always had Josh cut my hair and only go to people I trust for my beard care, and Josh has always left me feeling great and looking even better. Not listening/not caring about simple straightforward request. Had a decent haircut from one of the young guys prior, so made an appointment with whom I thought was the same fellow. Instead it was the embonpointe, fubsy owner of the joint who was all stressed out for the day and let everybody share. So, instead of the simple haircut I requested (same style, just shorten it), he dithered around in his stressed state. When I asked him, again, to shorten certain areas, he dithered again. No sense arguing with someone who can really mess you up, so I just bit the bullet and left. read more

Had gone here once before where the younger barber did a great job so when I went again and the owner of the place was available I figured that it would be the same quality if not better. The owner ended up giving me what he depicted as a fade and then offered to trim my beard. Before asking buzzed my neck to make me have a chin strap. The barber was rude. I asked whether I could get a haircut. He said he doesn't do he didn't do haircuts being facetious. He said mostly people get an appointment. He. Seemed that I was bothering him. I said okay, next time I will go with someone who doesn't do appointments. He said you should go now. So I did. He started yelling at me using F$&@ you, and other things and said he did not need your business. I was scared so I didn't say anything. Hopefully you will have more fun than I did! read more

Normally I wouldn't leave a review for a bad haircut.... but a bad haircut because of little to no effort warrants a review. I have a bald spot on the side of my head. I walked in saying it would be a challenge, but I had a haircut on my head that worked. I also attempted to describe a solution. Instead he picked up a buzzer and went to town. Came here because another place ruined a pretty easy cut. They turned it around and gave me one of the best haircuts ever. This place is exactly as it's name. Have been looking a good barber in Sarasota/Bradenton area for years. I didn't just find a good one but a great one in Jim at Classic Barbers in Sarasota. Right off US 41 on Bay Rd (Bee Ridge Road West) easy to get to. Jim was friendly, professional and gave me a cut that I wanted to try for a couple of years. I'm quite a fan of Classic Barbers. Jim was thorough and made sure he went over exactly what I wanted so that we had no miscommunication - he asked to see pictures, and even made sure to stop at different steps in the haircut (sideburns, part, etc.) to make sure I was happy and on board. He was friendly and did a great job on my hair, and Josh was also helpful and friendly. Although I didn't partake in the beverages today, I'm sure they add that little extra touch to really make a cut at Classic Barbers a good experience. I will certainly be going back. read more

I feel as though I got swindled into going to this barber shop by Jim. This is what happened: Jim took the phone number of Dave's Barber Shop. I called Dave's and Jim answered stating that he was the replacement for Dave's after they closed and that I should go to his new shop, "Classic Barbers" anyway, I went in there and Jim was rubbing up against me and told me about how everyone that used to work at Dave's was good for nothing. It was a frightening experience and this man is a fraud and liar. In support of the barber shop community Jim is against everything that is good about a barber shop experience. read more

Had a great first-experience here this week. Been looking for a real barber and found one! Jim did an excellent job on my short-but-not-too short clipper cut: just like I described. Mrs was happy with the cut too = all good. Will be back here every 3 to 4 weeks. Jim says the other two barbers are also skilled. Try them - I doubt that you will disappointed. Just moved in from Pittsburgh and it was time for me to get a haircut. We were in the area and I saw good reviews about this place. So I decided to give it a try. My barber was Matt. Matt took his time with the haircut and it came out great! In Pittsburgh,over the last 10 years, I couldn't find anybody that would use the razor and take their time to make sure the cut was just right. Matt exceeded my expectations and I will be back.
