I was enrolled here as a freshman for the 2025/26 school year. This school is INCREDIBLY disorganized, and not just in a 'first day chaos sense'. I was not properly informed of the bell schedule, and the reasons that it was different on the first day. The assistant principal read my schedule and sent me to the wrong class. I missed a whole period - thankfully an elective - and sat in a study hall that had more students than seats. They were actively bringing in tables so that they could have a seat for everyone in the study hall. This should not be happening on the first day. Initially, I was supposed to take Math 2. I was priority enrollment, and tested into this. The administration claimed there was no room, and placed me in Math 1. Math 2 was not an option on the course selection. I was then placed in virtual Math 2. During my study hall, the link that was supposed to come up for a recorded class never came. I sat in study hall with AP bio homework that I was supposed to have over the summer. When my friends at the Studio campus texted me about their AP bio homework, I had my mom call the office to make sure I didn't have any at PLC. The office said there was no summer work. This wasn't true, and I only got a huge packet of summer reading on the day before school. While other people had already completed this, I was left behind. During lunch, there were so many kids that there was no room at the very few tables provided. Open tables either had no shade source, so were burning hot, or had a broken umbrella. During Gear Up Day, I was given the wrong information regarding school computers. An adult told me that if I was a Workshop student, that I could bring my own computer. My family ended up driving back to the school, because this information didn't match up with prior instruction. I did end up needing a school computer, and was only set up with Canvas a day before classes. Nobody had said anything about the app before this. I was incredibly excited to start this high school after a wonderful middle school experience at The Classical Academy Bear Valley campus. I went here for my junior and senior year. I transferred from a private school - Calvin Christian - and I was very glad I did! CAHS-PL is the type of school where if you do your work, you WILL pass with AT LEAST a B. That is from a combination of excellent teaching, engaging work, and non-excessive knowledge. All the people I knew that got anything lower than a B were people who didn't really do their homework. I learned a decent amount of things - not enough to overwhelm me, but not enough to forget too many important details. Everything here was super easy compared to private school, as a junior and senior it was nice to still earn good grades but not have extreme amounts of work to do. When I was in the middle of college application season, I had a college counselor there tell me that CSUSM was impacted and it might be hard to get in. My weighted GPA was a 4.11, so I'm not sure where that came from, but it did stress me out. I was accepted in less than a day. My schedule was great. I didn't need too many credits so senior year I was at school 10.40am-2pm and it was amazing. If you're looking to make friends and have a social life, don't go here. A lot of kids just want to come to school, get their work done, and then go home. Most of my friends left before lunch, so I just used that time to do my work. If your kid works well on their own, this is the place for them. I highly recommend. It is 3 days a week, which is cool. I would get all my Monday and Friday work done on Friday, and then have Monday off! Or vice versa. It can be done, but I'd say around 3 or 4 hours of work will need to be done over those at-home days, but that's barely anything. My daughter had a horrible experience with this school. It was extremely disappointing as she has been hybrid homeschooling since 3rd grade and was excited to continue this path in high school. The school was incredibly disorganized from the moment she enrolled. Her math class was assigned incorrectly and when it was finally corrected, after multiple phone calls made over the weeks prior to her start, she was told there was no longer any room and she would have to take the class virtually. There was another class she was enrolled in which had homework assigned prior to the class, but she was never added to the teachers' email list so was forced to start one of her most difficult classes completely unprepared. The first day of school she was never given the link that she was supposed to have to log in to her now ' virtual' math class in study hall so missed the entire first math period. She asked for help and was simply told by the study hall monitor 'I don't know'. The study hall was crowded, loud and chaotic, without enough tables for all of the kids. The lunch area was the same way and some kids were forced to sit on the concrete. I suspect this school over enrolled and was not prepared. I dis enrolled my daughter after she called me, crying, and said there was no way she could possibly learn in this environment. read more

Classical Academy has far surpassed any expectations I had for a school for my son. My only regret is that I did not find the Classical Academy schools earlier. The teachers and staff are incredibly dedicated to teaching, the students, and exude an enthusiasm and confidence that is magnetic. Truly, everyone is so invested in the success of every student. I have observed on numerous occasions, staff and teachers encourage, embrace, applaud, support the diverse student base. The athletes, academic team, musicians, introverts, extroverts, are lauded in the same way. Everyone is valued. Every teacher is unique- in personality, skill set, mannerisms which helps to serve the diverse student body. It is a comfortable space for anyone to fit in or create their own space. Innovation, ideas, perspectives are encouraged. There is no right approach to learning. There is no wrong approach. It is truly a learning environment. Students are accountable with clear direction and expectations, tutors and counselors are always available, and goals, hurdles, requirements are defined well ahead. As students work to achieve those goals, materials is presented in many ways, with many formats, to allow for students with different learning styles and capabilities to succeed. Most importantly, the school is very invested in academic and personal success well beyond high school, in the community, in the workplace, in college, working toward creating independent, conscientious, resourceful graduates who will achieve well after graduation. read more

My oldest just got accepted into his school of choice and also got accepted into the honors college at his school of choice. I went to CAO freshman - sophomore year after being homeschooled my entire life. The teachers were AMAZING and the principle truly cared about her students, but this school has many downfalls that need to be addressed. Teachers have 20-150 students in a single class, resulting in a large amount slipping through the cracks. I was one of those kids. They also expect you to do two separate programs at the same time per each class, both made to be the only program used resulting in 10-12 hours of the day being spend purely on schoolwork. With the new program, I'm not sure if it is the same, but the use of Edgenuity ruined my GPA, my confidence and my aspiration to become something better. The school building itself is very small which isn't a bad thing unless two classes have to be taught in the same classroom at the same time, and people are asked to whisper or stay completely silent when there. Half of the kids here are very nice, but the other 125 are judgemental, rude, and feel like they can get away with anything as long as they kiss the ground the dean walks on; which is usually the case. Most of the teachers here are great, but Mr. Warwick is INCREDIBLE. He helped me catch up on 3 years of math in one semester and gave me hope to achieve my goals in math. I am forever grateful for him. He deserves a raise! Same with Mr. Owen! I cannot say the same for some of the other teachers. If you are looking for a school where you don't have to be social and don't truly want to be challenged by your education, this is a great option for you, but it is far more time consuming than regular school and requires a strict sense of time-management. I did enjoy my time here for the most part however, and Mr. Warwick, Mrs. Bojo, Mr. Owen and Dr. Perez truly did help me become a better person. To most, I would not recommend this school read more

Worst experience Yes I am a student writing this yet my parents have agreed with me on all the stuff I'm saying and this is why I'm leaving this place. The circulum didn't make any sense and the online program was horrible, I came from my former school with all As and came here to further my education and somehow I failed? This places system is so much worse than public school I barely learned anything and it wasn't the teachers faults the teachers were great except for one who I will not mention. And the worst part they harassed me and my parents that's not even an over statement. Accused me multiple times of serious offenses, then after they failed at trying to get me in trouble they harassed me in other ways like, before covid constantly calling us and it got so much worse after covid and I had to change my name cause I know for a fact they will harass me again. I know multiple people who were harrassed similarly to me and even much worse than this, and people who got away with serious infractions because certain people like them. I highly recommend you don't send your kids here they will get an even worse education and be harassed like I was and others. read more

This is the best school I have ever seen. They work with families to meet the needs of each individual child and their learning style. Each child is nurtured and cared for in order to reach their full potential. They have teachers on staff to help children during school hours. I transferred there for my sophomore - senior years and they were able to ensure I graduated in time (after what my previous school did to my schedule) and succeed in college. They have recently expanded with more space and teachers. read more

We had our daughter in the Jr high as well as the high school. Loved the teachers, loved the style of learning. She has gone on to a top university and will be graduating early with honors as well as a job offer...yes the Classical Academies were part of that success. read more
