I passed by Claws food truck on a weekday evening on my route home from work. I had seen this food truck several times and as a avid seafood lover, I could no longer resist. The owner was very nice and eagerly assisted me with making my selections and answering questions about the menu options. After carefully reviewing the menu, I ordered a side of mac and cheese, seafood rice, and wings and fries. The seafood rice was a bit greasy and contained about 3 to 4 pieces of shrimp. The mac and cheese was sweet as if sugar had been used to make the dish and the cheese was a type that I had never tasted before. Unfortunately, I did not fancy this dish. Lastly, visible pieces of hair were left attached to multiple chicken wings. While the service was great, the execution left much to be desired.

    Mac and Lobster Balls!

I was so excited when I was told that a food truck would be at The Still in the Heights tonight. First Friday at The Still is always a great time but three hours straight of drinking free rum, brandy, and absinthe without food is probably not the smartest thing to do. Keon and his staff at the Claws Food Truck were very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. I placed my order and was so delighted that they took credit cards! I placed an order for the Claws Mac and Lobster Balls. The food took less than ten minutes before it was ready. The balls were very good. I liked the fact that I could actually taste the lobster and it wasn't overpowered by the Mac and Cheese. The dipping sauce that was served with the balls was very good too. I also had the chance to taste some French fries that a friend of mine had ordered. The fries were very good. It was a pleasant surprise because most of the time, French fries come out soggy so, you just deal with it. The fries were tasty and perfectly seasoned. I am disappointed that I had to leave because I would have liked to try more of their food. The Claws on the Cob sound interesting and so do many of the other dishes they offer. I will definitely keep my eye out for the Claws Food Truck, and you should too.

The food lastnight was a very nice surprise. It was excellent. The grouper bites were amazing. The star the night. Very light, crispy and fresh. Cesar was very good. Chilean Sea Bass was cooked to perfection as was the Grouper Dinner. Both were ordered with the butter sauce. Sides were very good. Martinis on spot. Sorry no pictures. We will be back soon as locals.

The people are also very nice even if service is a little slow. Okay, now to the meat of what you're interested in: the food. If the food were 50% cheaper you'd probably be willing to overlook its shortcomings for the ambiance. There's little seasoning to be found on anything so everything is bland. Even the fries are completely lacking in salt. The grouper was breaded nicely and cooked properly but it was almost tasteless. The bacon carried my wife's Crab BLT because everything was so bland for her. The lobster dip appetizer had uncooked Parmesan sprinkled on the bread that was neither bruschetta nor dipping bread so it just didn't work well as an appetizer either. Overall, there's a better restaurant literally next door that's a little cheaper and I can't see coming back after such a disappointing outing.

Best. Brussels sprouts. Ever!…read more I know! I'm at a seafood place with great views and tons of tropical drinks-and I appreciate all of that, too. But the Brussels sprouts... wow! They're made with honey... and honey, they're gooood! They're magical-and after an extra long work week, they were also medicinal. Finn's sits right on the water, in Apollo Beach. It's tucked back in a residential area, not far off U.S. 41, right next to Circles. We were there at 12;30 on a Friday afternoon and parking was already scarce. (I can't imagine weekend nights) But don't let that hold you back. This is a fun spot-with inside dining-a huge covered deck and two other outside areas-all with great views. The food and bar menus have enough temptations to keep you coming back for that alone. The blackened mahi was cooked well and not too spicy. It comes with pineapple pico-that was balanced-not overwhelmed by onions. And the fries were really good-nice crunch-came out piping hot. And don't forget the Brussels (I sure won't!) I thought $21.99 was a fair price for the generous portion of fish and two sides (they have a large sides selection!) The drinks were good-nice kick, but not too strong--just right. I hadn't had a rumrunner in *years but suddenly had a craving for one. I knew it would be sweet-and it was-but I liked it. The key lime colada (made with Rumchata coconut!) was very sweet but really good. The perfect dessert. The vibe is casual, laid back and fun. Service was warm and super efficient. Amanda always knew just when to check in. It was the perfect April day to be out on the deck. It's a great spot to laugh with friends or just chill out and slow down. I'm all for all of it. Finntastic!
