I've been to Clay Cafe 3 times in the past couple months while we are temporarily living in Lubbock, and it has been such a fun and COVID-safe activity! It was easy to wear a mask and socially distance inside since we went at times that weren't busy (weekdays in the early afternoon). Once you walk in, you choose what you want to paint - they have a wide variety of clay objects such as plates, cups, animal figurines, objects relevant to upcoming holidays (like little pumpkins around Halloween and Christmas ornaments). The price of each object is written on the bottom. I painted small animal figures each time, and they ranged from $10-12. Then they give you brushes and a paper plate of paint colors which you choose, and you sit at a table and paint away! All the workers here have been very pleasant and helpful, we would definitely go back!

Absolutely ingenious way to side step the West Texas inferno in the summer! Fabulous selection of pottery & glass to paint; not mention the vast array of paint colors to choose from. The staff are beyond helpful as they give suggestions & even were kind enough to wipe down a botched piece for us to enable clean canvas for fresh masterpiece!!! You may select as many colors and tools as you desire with no guilt attached! Side note: they have theme inspired classes for the kids which provide snacks! Spectacular way to invigorate that creative stream & relax!

You make the decisions how it looks!

Michaels is a nationwide arts and craft supply store…read more This store is in an unassuming - aside from the traffic on Slide Road - plaza. We came here in mid-September (2025) for supplies for my daughter's science project. Aside from one staff member who greeted us and later asked "Are y'all ready to check out?", we weren't asked if we needed assistance let alone acknowledged by the other employees. That lone employee, however, acted like she was going to check us out then led us to a self-checkout. Even my daughters noted this. Lol. The self-checkout screen & scanner was not particularly easy to use... it was dreadfully slow that morning. Fun Halloween decor on display. FloraCraft® CraftFōM White Ball = $12.99 CAT SPONGES KK (Qty 3) = $8.99 Beadalon® BeadFix™ Gel = $9.99 A bit pricey! TIP Teacher Discount takes 15% off each item.

The Halloween decor was fun and the miniature scenes were my favorite. The possibilities of how to create decor with the flowers/vase/pictures are endless. We did ask about a DIY frame build which was only available online. The team members were pleasant and helpful. Loved this flume tree and the cost of $80 was above my price range soooo, will be looking to see if there is a DIY option.
