You have to come to happy hour and not stay here.... They restaurant and bar staff hide talking in a corner for free of making patrons drinks. When you have had enough, ask for the manager. He shows up as the guy who leaves you at your dining table with no service sitting there wondering where he went. Well....he changed roles over a 30 second period and disappears. The staff is trained not to ever look up and acknowledge people are wanting service. They all have negative attitudes and ruin the whole vibe. What a piece of shit hotel. read more

We were on a musical tour with an American High School for Performing Arts visiting Limerick. Clayton took care of us beautifully and there were 126 of us (8 basses!!) They accommodated our request for a special holding room for the instruments (basses, tubas, cellos) A vase/goblet of water in every room, several towels, great food (fantastic breakfast buffet, rocketship fast dinner service!), beautiful views of the River Shannon, and centrally located. It is within walking distance of King John's Castle and St Mary's Cathedral. As a large tour group, I have to say, this hotel had it perfected. We were all wondering how long it would take them to wash and dry 126 people's dishes and silverware oh my gosh, we were feeling so empathetic! Thank you to all who helped with this and got us out and to St Mary's Cathedral in time! We really enjoyed our stay here and everyone was so nice. Thank you, Clayton! read more

Well now this is a lovely hotel altogether so it is! Well, i liked it! I was just staying here for a conference so i was only here for one night. I really hate those conferences that you have to stay over for, I'd much rather be at home but sure work is work isn't it? I didn't mind too much with this clarion though because i really liked the rooms, they were modern and spacious and colourful and had a lovely view of the river that the hotel is built on. They had a full range of toiletries that you wish every hotel had in their bathroom. The breakfast was good with everything you want on offer although I did find that the buffet ran out of things that were never replaced but i got everything I wanted! One thing that was lovely was the fact that the staff were so accommodating. One of our group had a birthday on the day of our conference so to celebrate we decided that a cake would be a great idea! So off I went to find someone who would help me with this plan. At lunch time a massive cake arrived with our friends name written on it in chocolate, she was delighted! And so were we cause it was delicious! I never made it to the Gym in this hotel but supposedly it was really good too, maybe next time! read more

Stayed at Clarion for two nights and it was definitely a good place to stay. The building seems to be newer (if not new), the rooms were nice, clean and the included breakfast was very good. I must say that the Clarion is quite a pleasant hotel. I only give a 3 star rating here as I think the location is a bit outside of the city centre and more importantly, the Clarion is sitting just next to a car junkyard. So if you have a bedroom facing the estuary, you will see a big pile of tyres from your bedroom window... not that sexy :) Apart from this, the overall hotel is quite good. The staff is certainly helpful. Moreover, the rates applied are of a very good value! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. One minor point on the ventilation that I find quite loud when turned on. I haven't eaten there during my last recent trip, however I would expect their Kudos bar to be of the same standard as the other ones around Ireland. If so, food must be v good too. In a nutshell: If it wasn't for the location, this hotel would surely deserve a 4 star rating. I stayed at the Clarion Hotel Limerick with my boyfriend for a weekend break in Limerick. We flew directly from London into Shannon Airport and the hotel is just ten minutes from the airport in a taxi - only €28 - so handy. The hotel is located directly in the centre of Limerick city and looks really impressive as it stands really tall over all the other buildings. The rooms are very comfortable, warm and modern with great views, air con - free WIFI etc. Staff were very friendly, the food was great - sinergie restaurant is perfect for a romantic meal which we had on the second night. Dolans Pub is directly across from the hotel - its great craic! all irish music and food etc. Overall this hotel was fab! perfect location for shopping, sight seeing and going out at night. I only stayed at this hotel for one night but I'll tell you I was impressed. We got into the room and looked out the window to a great view of the river. It seemed like we were hanging over it. The rooms were modern with a decent bathroom. The wifi worked well. We ate breakfast in the morning before we left and it was good. We didn't go out from this hotel to experience the night life as we had a long day of touring the Cliffs of Moher, so I'm not sure how the location is compared to ease of getting around. I'm not sure on the pricing because it was part of a package deal. I would definitely stay here again. read more

I normally tip wait staff, add a solid 15-20% financial gratituity on top of a food bill, for demonstrated courtesy, effort, kindness and respect in service of a meal. In short and most simply, the FOOD SERVICE at the in house restaraunt "sucked" (was bad, poor, inconsistent; Waving of hands, to get the attention of the server were ignored; Requests for follow-up water were ignored). Another wait person explained we needed to go to the bar to split our dinner bill. There was a coupon received -for a free glass of wine with 2-course dinner- which was in dispute after a coffee was also ordered, with dessert. I'm a foreign traveler with a long standing solid business & personal understanding of the English language ... my peers agreed, service was poor. ADVISE: There are other food establishments nearby, they will be places you'll want to visit and re-visit, because of how you're treated. read more

I enjoyed staying here. There were some things that could have been better, however isnt there always? Let's start with the good. The beds were comfortable, the room was a little dusty in spots but otherwise clean where it mattered, and there were no issues getting extra towels. No, we didn't steal any towels. We just used a lot explained farther down the review. The hotel restaurants were very nice. A bit pricey to be expected, but the steak my son and I shared at the evening restaurant (Kudo's?) was outstanding. If someone would have mentioned trying gravy on french fries back in the states, I may have thought of slapping them. I'll tell you what though, it was nearly a 'wow' moment. It was that good. The next night, I joined my wife and her sister at the hotel bar. The bar was slow but the Guinness was as lively as my tastebuds anticipated. For breakfast, two of the mornings we all had the full Irish breakfast which was buffet style and exceptional as well. Now the areas that were less than appreciative: They claim to have a pool and workout room. Technically, that's true. However, they lease it out to a separate company or make money by having members join a club. The rather small exercise room was packed with after work athletes and the small pool was having a women's water aerobic class until after 8 at nite with a 9:PM closing time. That would have been nice to know. Also, we found out after the fact that kids apparently aren't even allowed in the pool. But I guess the attendant on duty let it slide, so we mostly enjoyed about 30 mins. The gross part was the locker room which was rather nasty. Well, we didn't travel to Ireland for the hotel pool, right? Regarding the hotel room bathroom, the bathtub had a short glass screen which pivoted out allowing water to get all over the floor. Thus the high towel usage. Also, the very loud bath fan came on when the bathroom light was turned on and stayed on when the light was turned off. It had an exceptionally long timer. But all in all it was a very nice hotel. The staff all around were great, both friendly and welcoming. I would recommend The Clarion Hotel Limerick to anyone. read more

Had a great stay here over the weekend!!the rooms are like apartments, i could live in there!!the Banter from sean in the bar was so good that we ate in both nights, so thanks for that...he was even good enough to get the chef to spice up my noodles...nice to see some bar staff who enjoy interacting with the guests..as a hotel manager myself, i know its not easy to come by, denyse with a y on the reception desk was also more than helpful even if i did have her plagued for a charger for 2 days!! overall a great stay, and everything was well priced, id recommend it to everyone!! my only small complaint was on check in. there was a small mistake with our book in and the man on reception couldnt find our reservation, i know how easy it is for this to happen myself so i tried to make light of it, and on a saturday evening, im sure he was very busy, but for about 5 minutes at the desk we were treated in a really condescending way which i really didnt appreciate, continually being told that we didnt have a reservation and generally his manner about the whole thing was as if it was my fault!! but other than that, thoroughly enjoyable!!ill definitely be returning, just with a printed reservation next time.lol Stayed June 2011, travelled as a couple read more
