He was definitely more personable than the rest of the people I got quotes from and took the time to answer all my questions. We ended up going with him since he seemed trustworthy and was mid-range priced--not the cheapest but not the most expensive. Everything seemed to be going well until 2 days after starting the job he called us to ask for more money since there was more on the roof than he anticipated--even though he actually went out for an in person quote and probably should have been more thorough. At that point with the job 2/3 done, what are we supposed to say? No? After agreeing to the increased charge, he finished Friday as promised and sent pictures prior to getting paid. At this point I would have still felt like he deserved 5 stars because there was a lot of clean up and the pictures looked really great compared to how it was before. Unfortunately, shortly after mud water was backing up into the sinks and when they went to go check the cap was off the main sewer line with leaves all blown in. We contacted Jamie the following Monday who, of course, stated that it wasn't his fault. To his credit he offered to come take a look at it but then stopped responding. We had to get a plumber out to fix it who said the cap came off somehow and leaves/dirt was blown into it. Kind of suspicious since he was the last one to do anything around that area. He finally called us back on Wednesday and stated that even if it's not his fault he would pay for half of it. I thought that was reasonable but then 4 days later he decided that he's not paying since it's not his fault. This whole thing has been really annoying to deal with.

The fence itself looked fine except for all the post holes in the ground from the previous fence that were left unfilled. We have a small child so you can imagine why having giant holes in the ground would not be ideal. I took it upon myself to fill all of them in. After a few months, we noticed one of our gates was not opening without excessive force and one of the fence posts was very warped and a section of the fence was leaning. I emailed Billy Wood in May, and asked for him to reach out to me about getting these things addressed. I sent a follow up email a few weeks later and never heard anything back from him. I called Coastal Fence a few weeks after that and spoke to Kirsten (who has been the only professional employee I've spoken to so far) about how I have been unable to get ahold of Billy to have someone resolve these issues. She told me she would reach out to him and let him know what was going on. I had to call a few more times after that for someone to finally show up at the house (unannounced). Trevor I believe was who finally came by and realigned the gate. Since then, I have been calling back consistently for months now about every week or every 2 weeks. I'm sure Kirsten is sick of talking to me but it's absolutely ridiculous that it was so easy for them to take my money when I was spending thousands of dollars on a new fence and now I can't even get the owner to answer my emails or phone calls about something so simple as replacing a fence post. I would not recommend this company based solely on the fact that once you purchase from them, that's all you get. I hope that you don't have any issues moving forward because good luck getting anyone to acknowledge you.

One of my main concerns are the workers who are in my home, whether there are background checks and this is when his whole demeanor changed dancing around the subject. I've worked with many trades in the past, never having this reaction when asked, very telling... He proceeded to tell me that he uses subcontractors not even in house people, doesn't do much work himself but will ck in on the crews which essentially is a project manager, not what I'm looking for and was not forthcoming with when initially asked before coming out. I find these basic questions not warranting such uncomfortable energy shift on his part. He also overly used religious quips during communications, like I'm a god bearing man, have a blessed day, as if it was a tool for marketing or manipulation to not question him or to shut me down. It was perplexing how this conversation turned south on his part quickly needing to ask him to leave only to be told what a "Horrible" person I was, confirming it was the right move. I should have followed my gut in the first place bc it is very hard to find many reviews anywhere despite he said several times he has all 5 star reviews. Unfortunately after he left is when I dug a little deeper finding some not so nice reviews of taking deposits then not coming back, starting jobs then not finishing or taking a long time to come back, that he's a con artist and hires "illegal subcontractors." These aren't my reviews, see for yourself by googling: fortune contracting, largo fl complaints. Obviously I can't say what his work is like but I see so many people on here or hear of contractor issues from friends that you need to follow your gut and even then that's not enough sometimes.
