This was the worst experience i have had with a contractor. The guys actually sprayed plaster into all of my light mounts and drains and didn't seal the drains to begin with. Then i had to hire two different leak detection companies to actually tell them how to fix my pool because they didn't seal the drains adequately whatsoever. Once i told them i would go out there and fix it myself then they finally came after like 30 day. Used these guys to resurface an old, neglected pool. The quality of the work is great but getting in touch with Blair has been really difficult and, as a result, very frustrating. Example: After 9 months tiles started falling off the walls. Called Blair immediately. After two weeks of reaching out and not hearing back I wasn't sure what to do next so I filed a complaint with the BBB. The very next day he calls and says he'll call in the morning. But didn't. This happened for 3 more days before he finally came out late Saturday afternoon. Turns out the damage is caused by ground movement (hairline cracks around the deck). Yikes!! He sent a crew out a couple days later and repaired it for free! Extremely grateful for the help but beyond frustrated with the rest. Not trying to be first in line, just need you to return my calls and keep appointments when you make them. I have to arrange my schedule to be here, too. read more

We been with this service for over three years and started very well then we received was bad service and never came every week we paid religiously and we paid for weekly service but was getting 10 to two week service or longer in the pictures I posted is what my pool been looking like regularly filthy I could not swim in my pool. Now that our pool plastering project is completed, not quite five months after paying the deposit, here is a summary of our experience expressed in the form of suggestions. Every project is going to be different, and these are based of course only on ours. 1. Before moving forward, gather your coping skills, your patience, and plan on it being a part-time job to stay on top of this project. 2. Before using one pool plastering company's projected month to start your project as a reason to select them over other companies - ask if they're willing to put it in writing. 3. Ask if the company has a receptionist. The lack of one will definitely impact communication. 4. From the beginning, check on EVERYTHING. Verify that the work order for your project has been entered in their system. We were told that for weeks after our deposit had been paid, the work order for our project had still not been in the system. 5. Put all requests in emails, and keep copies. On 7 November we told them by email that our choice for Lueder stone was dark tan. In March they came with gray. Without having a copy of the email, they would not have believed us. 6. Consider picking up the tile for your project yourself, especially if it's only a few boxes. If I had done this, it would have prevented several delays. In January, two months before they ended up starting on our pool, I verified with the tile store that the tile for our project had arrived and was waiting to be picked up. Yet when it was needed in March, first there was a delay because it hadn't been picked up, and at that point that particular tile was out of stock at the local supplier. Then there was a day when they discovered they hadn't picked up the right amount of tile. 7. When the work begins, ask for contact information from each leader of the various teams doing the work. Texting with them is the best and potentially only way to be able to find out when they are arriving, or if they plan to arrive at all that day. 8. Keep in mind that these crews are contractors who are likely also working for the competitors of the pool plastering company you selected, so timing may well get complicated. (Why doesn't each pool plastering company hire at least one crew to work for them full-time? Excellent question, and something to keep in mind if you are on the receiving end of complaints about the crews working for other companies.) 9. Be present when tile is being placed so that repositioning can be done. Do not rely on their eyes, use your own. If I had not been home to check on the positioning of our turtle mosaic, one leg of it would have been nearly flush with a spotter tile, instead of the turtle being positioned in the center of the flat space. 10. Be present when the plastering is being done, and ask that the workers take care when wearing their spiked boots so as not to gouge or scar the stone rimming your pool or anything else in the surrounding area. 11. During the smoothing part of the plastering, ask them to watch for "clinkers," which are small hardened chunks of plaster that do not take in any coloring you selected for your plaster, and will therefore be obvious oddities if they wind up in visible places. 12. I would hope my experience as a woman while being the primary contact person for our project is not the norm, but in my case people continually tried contacting my husband instead - despite being told repeatedly that I was the contact person. Also, multiple texts, emails, and voicemails from me went completely unanswered - but ONE text with the word "pissed" in it from my husband got prompt responses. 13. This is separate from the pool plastering company - but needs to be mentioned. I cannot recommend the overpriced pool service for restart after filling. If you regularly take care of your pool yourself, you can handle this. If you regularly use a pool service, they can handle this. For warranty purposes keep records tracking your pool water's chemical balance in the first month after refilling - and also forever thereafter, so you can show it was kept in the recommended ranges. It's important to educate yourself or your pool service about how to restart your pool pump and filter after they have sat unused and empty of water. 14. Once it's done, remember to celebrate the fact that you did the responsible thing by keeping your pool in good repair. I wish you all the best! read more

They installed the glass waterline tile, glass trim tile, Universal White Cement Arctic Coast polished pebble plaster with glass & extra abalone shell, and coping on my newly built pool. They also did the stone walls for my sheer decent waterfall. My pool looks amazing! The customer service and quality workmanship were outstanding. We have received so many compliments on our pool. Update: Our pool ended up turning really nice. I am glad we did the pool with this company. The quality of the work is amazing. Brent Lewis helped us expedite the process in the end and pool was ready for the party. I am giving them four stars because Quality was great and Brent did help us to keep the project in budget. Taking one star because the process took almost twice the time we were promised. I am really frustrated with the time it is taking this company to complete the remodeling job in our pool. After paying a deposit of 50% (over 10 grand) since November of 2018 to secure the dates this March for our pool remodeling, it's been three weeks and the pool is still not finished. Back in November Brent Lewis told me the job would be ready in 10 days or 2 weeks maximum. It's been three weeks and now they are telling me they have a backlog and we have to wait a few more days to do the plaster and the acid wash. They know we are in a hurry because we have an important event coming up next Saturday and we need to clean the area and obviously have the pool ready. Yet, this doesn't seem important for them and most likely and at best, the pool will be half empty the day of the event. There were several days where they just didn't show up and now they are just making excuses for their unprofessional timeline. I don't recommend paying in advance with so much anticipation because you still get stuck in thebacklog. read more

Blair came by and cleaned all the calcium buildup off our pool. Great job, great service, decent price. He also noticed and fixed a bad gasket in my primary pump, and fixed that for basically the price of the gasket. Give him a call! 7/14 Edit: I have to knock the rating down a couple of stars, based on my inability to get Blair to come back and look at some missing grout at the waterline of our pool. I've been trying for a few weeks, via email, and although he said he would be by, he's now gone radio silent, with his last message being that the grout missing "more than likely wasn't from the cleaning". Wished there were a 2.5 star rating. While we are happy with the end result, the communication and after-care was lacking. After rain delays, we were able to get the pool resurfaced just before Summer. Now, we have a leak that was not there before. It took several weeks before Brent, our project manager, returned our call. He sent a subcontractor out to do root cause analysis, which he did find the problem. However, we have not heard anything since and its been a few months of calling the subcontractor with no response at all. If Clear Solutions has any recourse, please advise on next steps. read more

Clear solutions renovated my pool that was about 20 years old. They did coping, tile, plaster and some deck work. It took a while to get all the details sorted out. Once the contract was signed, Brent was out all the time to check on the work. There were a couple times where nothing was done for a few days. But, if you have ever been through the construction process before, this is totally expected. I chose a hydrazzo plaster, which was more high end. When I asked other companies to quote the same thing, the cost came in considerably higher. I also have to add that I contacted about 10 companies. Six never responded back. One company was clearly a one man operation and was in over his head. So, I only negotiated with three companies on my project. Overall, great job and great recommendations on some different options. I can't enough good things about our experience with Michael Mansfield at Clear Solutions Pool Plastering. We sought out 3 bids and all were comparable but in the proposal, my husband raved about how detailed the steps of the process were presented in the contract. It was all clear and concise. As an engineer, he speaks that language and he felt comfortable the first time he spoke ot Michael on the phone. All the guys that came out do different steps of the process were kind and professional. They cleaned up every day and I can't say how much that was appreciated. Michael was so easy to deal with and no matter when I contacted him he was immediately returning my call or text. My husband was out of the country for the entire process and I was at ease as each process was completed. We went from a white plaster pool to a beautiful Midnight Blue mini pebble finish with rustic blue tiles and glass accent tiles on the walls and along the steps. It is absolutely GEORGEOUS! Bryan is our for pool 'start up' person and he will be working to get the chemical balance and also walk us through any need chemicals, cleaning and brushes we will need for the new pebble finish. While we were doing that, we got quotes for replacing the coping and tile around the edges as well. Blair was great! He talked us through our options, gave his opinions based on his experiences, but always made it clear that ultimately, it's up to us. I was losing an inch of water daily, there were multiple blisters in the plaster and a lot of delamination throughout the pool. Clear Solutions Pool Plastering had me impressed the first time I talked to Michael. He was eager to pass information onto me and educate me on the options available. He noticed things about my pool none of the other estimators did. I made an initial color selection for the plaster options I was choosing from and confirmed it with my wife prior to signing the contract. I received my first bid of four bids from Clear Solutions. It was not the cheapest bid, but it had a much better description of the work to be performed. It included an extensive prep charge for plaster delamination, which I felt it needed. Without the prep, there could be an underlying problem that is found after replastering and I wanted it done right the first time. We went with Stonescapes Tropics Blue Mini Pebble plus a re-tile of the tile line. The Mini Pebble is expensive, but comes with a longer warranty and a nicer look. The work started on a Monday with draining the pool and Tuesday a crew started demo. There were a couple of days where no work was done on my pool, but they had the work finished by the following Monday (a week and a day). It took 2 days to fill the pool with water. My pool deck and yard was cleaned up and in good condition. read more

I will fill my pool with dirt instead of hiring Clear Solutions to do any work again. They hired a sub to replace my pool coping and did a terrible job. Clear Solutions own employee said it should be ripped out and redone. They replastered the pool at the same time and left a foot print in the new plaster. I have tried repeatedly over 3 or 4 months to get the issue resolved with no cooperation from Clear Solutions. read more

We hired Clear Solutions to replaster our pool and refinish our cool deck. Unfortunately, the great job that was done on the cool deck was ruined during the plastering process in November. We notified them immediately and we were told it would be fixed (both by Brent, the superintendent who apparently no longer works for them and then later by the office manager, Kimberly). It is now almost April and nothing has been done. Just a bunch of emails promising to "get with the owner" on a resolution. Now they are blaming their non-communication/nonresolution on the snowstorm that happened in February (6 weeks ago). $24K later and we honestly don't expect to see them again. We CAN highly recommend SunCoat of Austin for stepping in and helping us out with a new cool deck (on our dime) since the other one was ruined, even though it wasn't their fault. Can't say the same for the LeNoirs and Clear Solutions. read more

I just bought a house in N. Austin. The previous owner completely neglected the pool and the equipment to the point the plaster was gone and the mechanical equipment had major problems. I called over a dozen companies to try to get repair estimates. The other companies would not return calls, would not show up, and generally seemed that they couldn't care less about earning my business. Two companies that did give estimates were "over the top." I finally called Blair at Clear Solutions and couldn't be more pleased. The Clear Solutions team rebuilt my pool, have been responsive to all calls and inquiries, professional, friendly, and did quality work at $2,500 less than the lowest competing bid. My mistake was in never calling to the office and tryed to face the problems with the person who i signed contract with who was rude after I brought his attention to not fixed leak. He said it wasn't mentioned in contract and I had leak before plastering. Somehow he was much nicer before I payed for the work. Contract said if the any prob.ems on the pool will be found it would be brought to my attention and it was as I also told them to fix. But they didn't care. Also I have water bill handy. Area I live in quite expensive. And no, it was few pieces in my yard broken, not one block, and left all over the yard. Not mentioning soda cans and water bottles and foot prints all over deck. Calling me after yelp review asking how you can fix the problem now quit wrong. I already fixed and cleaned it. I know that may hurt your business but people deserve to know about your work or people who work for you. I met with sales person Michael Mansfield, regarding re-plastering my small pool he did the measure, I told him the budget and we met outside by his car and looked at different color options and warranties on plaster. I decided on 7 yr plaster in white with blue specs, this choice was made from his oval samples. The work was started, they were on time, cleaned up their mess. The problem is, I picked White with Blue specs and came home to find they did it in BLUE, solid blue, not only was it the wrong color but you could see drip marks down the pool side, brush strokes, the color was uneven thru-out the pool, horribly done, again this was NOT the color I wanted and paid for. Called Michael and was told this was an "upgrade". I was not asked about the upgrade just given it. Told him I did not like the blue, it was not done even, looked like a pond not a pool. He said he would come by and take a look, So then they added 8 gallons of acid, YES 8 gallons of acid and said I would be responsible to brush the pool to make the color fade and be even. Yes I was going to brush the pool after it was plastered in WHITE, but why should I have to worry about fixing their mistake to make sure it was even? So the pool was brushed daily for a few weeks. Well the pool bottom is still un-even, brush strokes, and now lines, I was told this was "normal". No it is not, I have owned and seen pools for over 30 years and no plaster has EVER looked this bad. Upon talking to my neighbor across the street he asked if they ever repaired the hole in the fence they made when they were draining the pool. Funny thing was we had noticed the hole in the fence but did not think it was the pool company issue, but it was, When I brought this too Michael's attention, he wanted to know why it took me so long to tell him, Well, I just found out, why did you workers not report it. So now I have and uneven plaster job in a color I did not want and a hole in my fence. Called Michael again, he said they would come out and polish the pool to see about getting it even. It did not work and when they came out this time they bent my pool pole. Tried calling Blair the owner and basically he said I have to live with it, that I picked that color. NO I did not not, I have brown tile, I would NEVER pick blue, and was treated like this was my issue not theirs. Said the color "Caribbean Isle" is blue,. Blair said that it was on my estimate. OK I am not a pool specialist and how would I know if they typed up the wrong color. Again I would never pick BLUE So I sent yet another email explaining about my unhappiness with the color and everything else that went wrong, and I received an email stating they were sorry, they would replace the pool pole and would do the pool in the color I wanted at wholesale pricing. Really? They want me to pay again for something I already paid for and they did it incorrectly. This has been going on since April, No new pool pole, hole in my fence and now the color after they put in the acid is what I would call dark grey. Its ugly, Poor customer service, never did they apologize, Blair treated me with no respect basically saying oh well, live with it. They don't take credit cards, only checks so as a Consumer I have no protection for services not rendered read more

Be warned: Nightmare experience with this company! Owner attempted to seal new coping without masking the new plaster below it. He stained the plaster all around the pool. He attempted to fix it by adding large amounts of acid to the pool without telling us or informing the pool company that did the plaster job. The acid removed the creamy layer off of our new plaster, some stains that weren't eaten off are still visible, and owner's promises that he would make this "right" ended up with an offer for a PARTIAL refund for only the coping job, and nothing about the BRAND NEW plaster that he stained and affected with the acid. I have never experienced a blunder of this magnitude from a company. And by the way, the mortar between the coping and the deck is cracking away. read more

I first connected with Blair via Yelp messaging in early February 2016, indicating that I was interested mostly in resurfacing the pool and replacing the border tiles, but was open to other ideas for improving the pool area. He responded almost immediately and came to the house a couple of days later to assess the state of the pool. While there, Blair suggested some additional possibilities for enhancing the whole backyard pool area, including some much needed repair to the non-functioning deck & pool drains, resurfacing of the old concrete decking with a spray deck finish, replacement of the unused pool "spa" with a tanning ledge - and some fun additions like LED pool lights that change color ! After browsing some examples of spray decking and tanning ledges on the web, my wife and I agreed they would really improve the pool area, considered our options once Blair's bid was received, then gave Clear Solutions the go-ahead. In spite of the fact that much pool-related work goes on in late winter/early spring, Blair was able to start around 2 weeks later, towards the end of February. The old surface and tiling was quickly demoed; the spa was removed, replaced by the foundation for the tanning ledge. Work to install a working deck drainage system also began. Blair provided a huge number of choices for the new pool surface and border tile. My wife and I wound up choosing an amazing microfusion surface (Gemstone Quartz Fusion - Laguna). He also pointed us to a local showroom for the tile, where we could place a sampling of our planned pool surfacing next to the showroom tile samples to make an appropriate choice. We ended up with some beautiful border tile (Verona Tondela Blue) that provided a stunning transition from the Laguna microfusion pool surface. The only goinks during the process were a 2 week delay in receiving the spray decking from the distributer and a cumulative 1-2 week holdup by the increasingly rainy period that began in April. We were not required to have the project finished until early May, so this was not an issue for us. Despite some challenging aspects to the deck and pool drainage work, the pool was ready to be filled by mid-April. Once filled, we were blown away by the beauty of the new pool surface and border tile, and the degree to which the pool's and surrounding deck's appearances were improved. But we weren't done yet - to complete the transition of the pool area, we decided to replace the 30+ year old pool filter cartridge with the newer, four-cartridge Pentair Clean & Clear system - this was completed by Blair's guys in one afternoon. There was already a stone waterfall and slide at one end of the pool, with the slide needing some tiles replaced. The particular shade of blue tiling used on this 16-year old slide was apparently no longer commonly available, but Blair somehow managed to track some down. Now installed, it is not possible to discern where the old tiling ends and the new, repair tiling begins, and the slide is usable again. Blair was always available & responsive throughout the life of the project, rebuilding much of the major pool infrastructure. He was very attentive to all the details involved with this project. I would not hesitate to recommend Clear Solutions Pool Company for any pool and surrounding deck renovation. read more
