The gift that keeps on giving. When they remodeled my pool a while back, they cracked one of my skimmers -- which they acknowledge was their fault. They "fixed" it at their cost. What I'm unfortunately just now finding out is that the fix was nothing more than a temporary patch that's now causing other problems. They coated the inside of the skimmer including joint between the skimmer and pipe with epoxy, which also filled in all the threads that are used to screw in a standpipe or other equipment that is used to facilitate other types of pool maintenance and repair. Which brings me to today. I have a leak somewhere underground between my skimmer & my pump. The repairman I had out would like to simply to simply screw his equipment into the skimmer to pressurize it -- so he can then find the leak by listening with something like a fancy stethoscope. The problem is that because of the amateur repair job done years ago he cannot screw anything into the skimmer, nor he can any of his bladders seal because the epoxy job is all uneven and irregular. He has a plan B but it's not as easy and will cost more. Live and learn. read more

This was our first pool to have installed however once we engaged Master Pools of Austin everything came together and we were surprised that when the project was completed that they outperformed our expectations! This has by far been the worst experience I have ever had with trying to get pricing from a company.  I understand that all Austin pool companies are busy and some are not taking new customers. There has not been one time has a timeline presented by Master Pools has been met and I am spending my time chasing Mark to try to get information with little to no response.  I am formally requesting my downpayment back since this is a complete failure on Master Pools part to honor their end of the transaction. We started this in July of 2021 with our initial meeting with Mark and making a down payment. I have had to send constant emails to follow up to be able to receive any information related to the Pool Design or Pricing.  We got a really high level price In late October which was 50% over the target budget and was missing multiple items we requested to be included like a HeatPump/Chiller and replacing the railing on our existing patio.  Regarding the railing Mark said that he would include replacing the railing on our existing patio with a metal railing during our design discussions only to find out that it was not included and that Master Pools can't accommodate the request to replace the railing.   I have been asking for detailed pricing since October (over 4 months) with no response from Mark.  There is no way I will continue the process to build a pool with Master Pools or recommend Master Pools to anyone based on my experience. read more

Master Pools renovated our pool last Spring. They did a good job on the actual pool planning and replaster but hired a sub-contractor to do the decking. The concrete started cracking within the first few months and the cracking is all over the slab. The cracks are on top of the rebar placement and circle the entire pool both crosswise and lengthwise. The subcontractor has worked with us to make the appearance better but we have gotten NO RESPONSE from the management of Master Pools. The manager (Dennis) refused to return our calls and has never even been out to see the pool. This is a shame because we were very happy with the foreman and workers from Master Pools but the foreman quit right after our pool was finished. The only other person we've been able to talk to about this is the administrative worker and she has promised calls some response but nothing ever happens. I believe that some of the cracks are serious enough to be structural and we will watch how the concrete wears in the next few months. read more

Master Pools level of service, professionalism, and value is beyond compare in the Austin pool and outdoor market. We spent about a month in search of a pool renovation company. We had to replaster our pool bottom that was heavily damaged with scaling and black mold due to the lack of attention by previous owners. By far, our most important factor in the whole experience was price. We really desired a pebble aggregate bottom for our pool but were afraid that we would be unable to fit it in our budget so would also be happy to just do plaster. We evaluated over 40 different vendors in the Austin area! After compiling a lot of data, prices, samples, and different levels of contractors, we narrowed our list to about 5 vendors. Several companies promised a visit, and a quote, and delivered neither even after recontacting. During the entire process Master Pools was extremely professional and were one of the first to respond with a visit as well as a very reasonable bid. Steve was very courteous and professional to me and my wife, and even followed up with us several times. Steve went out of his way to drop samples off when it was tough for me to do so, and let me keep them for a long time. When it came down to us liking samples from other vendors, Steve was even able to give us a custom color dye kit to mix in with our aggregate to make it exactly as we desired at no extra cost, and was even able to throw in mother of pearl accents for free. When it came down to making a decision, Master Pools was completely negotiable, and bent over backwards to provide us a competitive quote that topped the competitors. Master Pools is a full service renovator, and they even topped the price of simple contractors. Surprisingly Master Pools price for the top rated Pebbletec materials was even cheaper than some that were simply offering plain white plaster!!! When it came to construction time, Master Pools was able to start work on our pool within a week of signing the contract. We never had to deal with contractors directly. They came in quickly and drained and saw cut out the plaster in a single day. They then acid washed and completed the plaster the next day. The next day they did a final acid was and started filling the pool. From start to finish the actual work only took 3 days, and filling the pool another full day. They then even came in on the fifth day to add startup chemicals, and came in yet again to retest chemicals! They also did a superb job of cleaning up the very messy process of replastering with little to no residue remaining. They went above in beyond and installed a replacement lightbulb that they did not need to do. Finally, there was an issue when it came to turning on the pump, that it would not come on because the breakers became overloaded and a fuse went out. They sent out an electrician the same day to fix, because they realized the importance of the pump coming on to circulate the chemicals once the water was filled immediately. They did this at no cost. I would HIGHLY recommend Master Pools for any renovation needs. Not only they do deliver the highest quality name and product on the market (Pebbletec), but they will work around your budget, your desired sample and materials, and will deliver professionally and quickly. I enjoyed my experience so much I even welcomed Master Pools future customers to come by to our house anytime to see the results for themselves. My wife and I decided to look into pools. Made a short list of three Austin vendors to visit with. Fairly unimpressed with two, but one - Master Pools - was the one we chose. Not because they "were the only other vendor", but because they treated us well, listened, promised to deliver. Justin took plenty of time, over the course of several appointments, to help us design our pool with the decorative and equipment options we wanted. Then he interfaced with water district and city for permit and inspections. Nothing for us to do... nice. Shane managed our project, always keeping us informed of what was coming next and when. No surprises. Michael and Jonathan did great work. Owner Steve even popped by a couple of times to check on things. All very professional and courteous. Would have given 5 stars except for slight house trim / gutter damage caused by bobcat. Accidents happen, not a big deal, and fixed without issue. So stinking cool to see your idea / design come to life. Thanks Master Pools for delivering on your promises! Dennis and his group had a big job getting my pool back to usable. I had leaks, a bad filter pump and my pool was basically a disaster. They were able to get everything fixed and upgraded on schedule and on budget. Everyone was very professional and courteous. Sadly, I am having to write this review. My experience with Master Pools of Austin has turned out to be a horrible one, like many other customers have shared. They completed construction of our pool in May 2016, and during the first year, hairline cracks started forming all over the top of our spa, causing the tile to break and fall off. We aren't quite sure what has caused this, likely the settling of the pool during the first year. I called them to ask if they could please replace the cracked and broken tile. A reasonable request, as our pool was less than a year old at the time. The secretary, Amanda, tells me that this is not covered under warranty, and that I would have to pay for the labor to fix it - $800. The edges are sharp where the tile has broken off, and we have children who have cut their feet on it, so I am desperate to have it corrected. I even agree to pay for the labor. I have called them 8 different times, sent 6 different emails. At first they told me they would "put us on the schedule". That was 6 months ago. My calls are not returned and emails ignored. They have never sent anyone out to fix it. Would you want your custom pool like this after spending $100k on it? I don't want this experience to happen to anyone else. Great experience from design through construction. The only issue was that once 95% of the pool was complete, it's been very difficult to get the last 5% done off the punch list. This is the case with pretty much every builder/contractor, but still... i wish they would just get it done. But overall, they were awesome and i would definitely recommend them and use them again. read more

Horrible experience. Was told the project would be done in about 3 months if weather permitted (there were no weather problems during that time). Took over 1 1/2 years to complete the project. Paver decking had to be done 3 different times because they did not lay it properly and it sank. Crews were not Master pool crews and were not supervised at all. Master Pool of Austin built my pool in 2013. Early 2017 it encountered water leak on the spa side. Call their office for help (mid June 2017). Tried to call several times but the phone is either busy or my call went to voice messaging recorder. After few days, I'm so happy that they returned my call. Spoke to a lady about my spa water leak problem but immediately told me that its out of warranty. Told her regardless of warranty I beg her to send service personnel to investigate. She promised to send the service guy. Now its July 13 and I did not receive any call from either the service guy or the lady. DEAR YELP: My wife posted a negative review of this company a while back and it looks like it was removed. Please advise. If I could give ZERO stars I would. We spent $40K on a remodel - money that we saved up over many years. Not only was the work quality terrible (everything is already breaking - coping, tiles they put in and slab they poured is cracking everywhere), they promised so many times they would come out and fix things and nothing EVER happened. Even after I posted my last negative post a few months back (again, HOW did that get removed???), they contacted me and said they'd fix things (things that are still under warranty, mind you) and once again, nothing, absolutely nothing has happened. We got a lawyer and once again, they promised but didn't do anything. It would be another $10-20K to file a suit against them and we're told that even if the judge decides in our favor they would likely not pay up. (we have everything documented and pictures of every phase of the work and the mistakes done like accidentally cutting into water pipes when pouring the deck and having to re-cut the decking several times in several spots to fix all the water leaks that were happening...the coping cracking in many places and falling apart, the tile in the wall starting to fall off and crack as well, etc.). For the record, this company is part of Atlantis Aquatic Group. We had also reached out to the owners - they came out as well, again, said work would get done. Nothing was fixed and in the meantime the pool decking, coping, tile and water feature are all falling apart. WORST experience ever! I can only recommend, if you're a family wanting to get your pool fixed, DO NOT work with these guys. They changed their crew on us 3 times (actually fired whole parts of teams each time) and their project managers were fired too. Then the guy who sold us the whole project was fired too and the workers told us that the company had been telling them to work on larger projects and not to worry about ours. They also told us that there was so much bad management and questionable stuff going on within the company that they kept having to fire people. The new project manager then said he'd work on ours but had so many other complaints, we would be in the queue once the other work got done with other customers...once again, it's been over 6 months and nothing has happened. read more

I had a horrible experience with this company. Taylor helped me with my designs and told me that it would take 3-4 weeks before the could get started and 6-8 weeks to complete. It took 7 months! Taylor checked out after the initial design and walk through...he would not return my emails Pools are done in fazes...After a faze was complete it would usually 3-4 weeks before I would see them again. They treated my yard like a work area and would not clean up after themselves in between jobs. There were piles of rocks and pieces of steel and trash just left in my yard for months. Next to a home this is one of the largest purchases I will ever make and I wish I would have given my money to a company more deserving. read more

I wanted to write this as I chose this company off positive Yelp reviews, despite a bid that was lower elsewhere. I am VERY disappointed in the service I received from this company. I paid 50% up front for a complete replaster of my pool back in December. I was told by my salesperson that the actual work would be done "in a couple of weeks". Given that it was so close to Christmas, I assumed that it would be a couple of weeks into the new year, and I was okay with that. Weeks and weeks and weeks pass with little contact from my superintendent and sales people (I liked the sales guy--I think he was doing his best overall). I keep checking in and they will get started "soon". Finally, in March, they start the work. The pool is drained--my polaris is left in the bottom and as it rains becomes a big moldy mess. After a few days and when weather clears, they begin with some chipping away at the old plaster. They bid the electrical work and I find my own contractor to do that at half the price. Then a flurry of emails (3 emails and calls in one hour while I am at work) as I am told now that I must up-front the rest of the cost (several thousand dollars) before they will place the order for the plaster. I am told that I signed a contract that says I will pay the other 50% "at finish". Of course, I took that to mean "at completion", not BEFORE the plaster is ordered. We argue about that for a few days, where no work gets done on the pool. Finally, they agree to move forward and I can pay the remaining 50% at completion. The finish looks nice. I do a walk-through with a manger and he collects my check. I ask why the polaris isn't back in the pool and he says it can't go in for 10 days on the new finish. At day 10 (Saturday), I go to put in the polaris and one of the joints in the hose is now broken. Because the last 10 days has coincided with oak season, the pool is already a disaster and the polaris is urgently needed. I start calling Monday morning and call EVERY day thereafter, where I am told that someone will be by. By happenstance, my salesperson texts me to ask if he can show my finish to another couple. I tell him yes, but relay the polaris saga and ask if he can send someone out to fix and clean the pool. (I hadn't hired my cleaners back, since I've been without a pool since December). I don't want my pool people to have to clean what is now 2 1/2 weeks of oak pollen and leaves. Finally on Friday at around 6 pm, someone stops by, fixes the polaris and leaves without cleaning anything out. So my weekend is nothing but emptying the polaris bag over and over again as I try to fix my nasty green pool, after spending thousands and thousands of dollars. Not a great experience! They were very available to collects checks, but not for much else. read more

Justin from Master Pools of Austin came out and listened to exactly what we were looking for and nailed it! Their whole team was very professional and quick to resolve any questions or issues we had throughout the process. Having been a previous pool owner,we really like the very low maintenance required with our new in-floor cleaning system. Worst experience EVER! We had our pool remodeled. If I could give zero stars I would. We chose them because of all the positive reviews. Let me start off by saying we've given this company a long time to fix the issues they created and they did not fix the issues. When our pool was remodeled, they committed to getting it started at the beginning of the year and finishing it no later than mid-year since we had family coming into town. Well, that didn't happen, guests came and back yard was a construction disaster. Tiles they had just put up started falling off, the coping we had replaced started breaking and separating from the pool, creating cracks where pool water could come in, the decking that we had fully done by them is cracking everywhere, the water fountain doesn't work properly, the lights are all already out, they came out 3 times to fix the pool lights we had installed (they kept going out and later people blamed each other on faulty wiring that had to then be redone), they had to cut two huge holes into our decking because they accidentally didn't pressure test piping and we started having leaks everywhere. They even refused to accept a demand letter our attorney tried to drop off. During our remodel, they changed the project manager and crew 3 times - every time the new crew told us how messed up the past crew was (that in itself was already alarming as in the end they all represent the same company). I can only suggest to stay away from them and their promises. They would overpromise and not follow through or even respond to update requests.
