The meat here is quite expensive, but you get what you pay for.
I came by here looking for both a hunk of pork collar to marinate for char siu as well as some ground pork for kimchi dumpling filling. The handsome young thing working behind the counter was quick to greet me even though he was still vaccuum-sealing a steak for another customer. Once he was finished there, he quickly pared down the pork collar that I chose close to the appropriate weight. He asked if I would like him to add herbs and spices, which I politely declined. When I asked for ground meat in addition to that, he sliced off a piece of the same cut of meat to grind down fresh for me. I prefer not to use ground meat in my cooking, but freshly ground is another story!
The price ended up being quite a bit higher than I normally pay at Meny or the local halal butcher, but the cut I chose was certified organic. Service was good, the meats were well-wrapped, and the final product turned out delicious. Although this is me cooking, so that was expected.. heh! Definitely a nice butcher to visit if you have some extra money or want to impress someone. read more
