Every year my church participates in a Thanksgiving Flag Football tournament. This year they had to change the location to Ross Middle School. The fields are really big and they were able to host 4 games at one time with plenty of additional space for the teams to set up their camps. The field was very well maintained which is a big plus, because a poorly maintained field usually results in a lot of injuries. There are a few cons though: -limited parking -bathroom facilities are pretty far away -limited access point to get onto the fields not sure how much the school charges to use the fields but if your looking for a place to host a recreational league, then you may want to consider this place.

So far he has been here one year, but the staff is so helpful and always kept an eye out for my child. His teacher was able to guide him with reading at about 3rd grade level. We thrive to keep going and always learning more, but it was refreshing to see such passionate and loving staff.

Can anybody believe that after I voice my thoughts about the secretary that works in the front office of Kennedy stem Academy . My son, a child that is in special needs was kick out of the school 3 months before the school year is over. When he attended the school we lived in Cerritos which made Kennedy his home school. Obviously we proved he lived there when we first enrolled by bringing all the necessary documents needed. We then moved to Lakewood but because he was already half why though the school year we decided to finish it out. I mean nobody would want to switch their child in the middle of the school year especially if the child can have issues with having such a big change. We got a letter that said we have notice that you no longer stay in the address in our system and that a staff member (Evelyn) went to the address to confirm hahahahahaha No principle would have did it .. the teacher loved my son she definitely didn't do it. Who could have access to all this information address etc ! How about the office secretary!!! This woman who looks as if she has no life outside of the school . No husband no kids no one to love her push hard to get a 5 year old kid out the school It has to be an evil agenda behind it because why let the whole school year go by in with 3 months left all off a sudden notice the address change . Who go to ppl homes to check but a bitter (female dog) her new name should be BOB FOR BITTER OLD B!!!! They also have a remodeled gym that was remodeled maybe a decade ago, but is in great shape. They allow the people to play badminton and basketball on certain days. I have played badminton here a few times and there are a range of different players from beginner to strong players and everyone is very friendly. The only thing that is unfortunate is that you need to be a resident to play badminton or basketball so it is difficult to invite my friends that are non residents. But overall great school, great environment. I give this school an A++.

They greeted us and gave us their perspectives and it immediately felt like home. The children themselves were friendly and eager to say hello to my then-4-year-old and as soon as our tour ended, I knew this was the place for us. Now that we're nearing the end of our first year at OLF, I can confidently say our instincts were correct -- the teachers are caring and competent and the community is cohesive, but most importantly, there is a strong emphasis on education, fellowship, and safety. There is a volunteer crossguard on Roseton x 178th St, Artesia X Roseton and Gridley X 178th St. The school also offers an after school daycare program to allow for busy parents to handle emergencies and personal issues well, while being confident that their kids are safe and sound. Definitely is a school worth it's California Distinguished School ribbon.

Is Valley a Christian school in name only?…read more If you are thinking about placing your child here, I can give you some insight. My wife and I were so green her freshman year. I could barely contain my excitement. Giving our daughter the gift of a private school education seemed out of reach, but Valley was accommodating. We made it happen, and that year was epic! My daughter played four sports and did really well in all of them. She finished with a 3.9 GPA, and we could not have been happier. Then, prior to classes starting sophomore year, at the girls' volleyball tryouts, we encountered something that we had only heard about and, transparently, did not believe existed: The Dutch Mafia! A quick history lesson: Valley was founded in 1935, and its historical ties trace back to Dutch immigrant communities in the local area (like Bellflower and Cerritos) who established it as a Reformed Christian day school. Some of the families who founded the school are still there--hence the term "Dutch Mafia." Now, back to the volleyball tryouts. There are a lot of details that could tell the story, but to keep an already long review a bit shorter, I will say this: based on how they separated the girls, we knew who was going to make which team. To say it was NOT based on ability, skill, or team needs is an understatement. I couldn't believe what was happening, but I should have known what was to come because of a foreshadowing incident during freshman season. Our starting libero was taken out in the middle of a game and had to give her jersey to the backup--not because she was playing badly or missing balls, but because the backup's mother complained to the head coach that her daughter wasn't getting playing time. That player's mother is a teacher at Valley, and our starter never went back into the game. When the team lists were emailed out, we understood what was happening. Returning players and incoming freshmen who were related to staff and coaches were placed on Varsity, even though they frankly were not that good. Girls who had been in the program since freshman year were not even given roster spots because they were seniors, and Varsity was the only option for them. I did the math after the lists came out: 44% of the available positions were given to freshman players. So, the incoming "Dutch" girls were so good that they took up almost half the roster spots across all three teams? Not likely. There was also some controversy that ended up getting the Varsity head coach, Jeff Ornee, unfairly dismissed. I found out later that the loudest voice calling for his termination was the coach who took over sophomore year. She completely destroyed the program with team selections based on clear nepotism and favoritism. She is a teacher at the school, by the way, and did such a horrible job that she quit, leading to another teacher taking over. I had high hopes, but the current coach is even worse. My daughter was placed on the frosh/soph team for her first two years and JV her junior year. She didn't make the Varsity team her senior year, and by now, you know why. By that time, she was completely burnt out on volleyball and having breakdowns, feeling like she wasn't good enough. Thankfully, she transitioned to an uncoveted sport (track & field) and no longer wanted to play volleyball for Valley or her club team. Our story is uniquely ours, but I can tell you that it is not the only one, and by far not the worst. I have firsthand knowledge of others, but those stories are not mine to tell. I would like to say that the teachers, security, and staff working behind the front desk at Valley Christian School were some of the sweetest and kindest people I've met. This review is not a reflection of them, their hard work, or their good hearts. Valley has some awesome traditions (Christmas time is epic), and if you choose to send your child here, they will receive a top-notch education and awesome Christian experiences--as long as they don't play one of the coveted sports.

there are so many things wrong with this school, where can I even start…read more. 1. Safety. There are SO much fights at this school, I can't even count. Once during the first semester there were maybe 3-4 fights in one week, almost 2 in a day once. It was so bad for about 2 days we weren't allowed to move lunch tables or get up out of our seats at lunch. Not to mention there are multiple gang members at this school. As im writing this, there was almost a fight yesterday and a fight INSIDE A CLASSROOM 2 weeks ago. 2. Staff. Where do I even begin..... The staff is rude to students. If you have any concerns, I'd recommend talking to the vice principal Mr Mcleoud as he is the nicest and most understanding staff member on campus. The principal is rude and treats the school like a prison. She is sooo rude to students, and people are scared of her as she targets random kids for no reason to say something to when they aren't doing anything. There are no backpacks allowed on campus which causes students stuff to get stolen, such as chromebooks and more. When you ask them to look at the cameras so you don't have to pay a $400 fee to replace your Chromebook that was stolen, they don't listen and never cooperate with you. The staff in the office is rude sometimes except for one nice lady. Most of the teachers don't teach at all, and ms Kaiser hates children and teaches like the principal from the movie Matilda. The only teachers that genuinely teach and are good at what they do is Mr Courdy and Ms Sollecito. Not to mention basically none of the teachers respond to emails when you or a parent have questions or concerns. If you are looking for a middle school to put your child in, tetzlaff is NOT the one, coming from a student.

I met my best friends here, not only friends but a core group of sisters. A bond we will forever hold. There's a saying, "tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are". This sisterhood bond, I share amongst- Insurance business Owners(LMU grad), HR Directors(LMU grad), Field Managers(ASU grad), Boeing Representatives(CSUF grad), School principals( UCLA masters) and Doctors( USC). We have all pushed each other to become as the post below me says, "All of which woman is capable". SJ provided that structure through academics, athletics, and a true foundation of sisterhood. This structure allowed for me to lead with confidence into college. Through my years at SJ taught me, to grow as an individual, discover my true identity and the ability to find my voice. I have now embraced success as a college graduate and government agency specialist. I have Saint Joseph High School to thank; I can't wait to send my daughter here one day. It will feel like your daughter will be consistently stared down each time she walks outside of class and get told something about her stupid polo not being tucked in or about her skirt. It's funny because it seems that they play favorites especially when it comes to cheer and song. They rarely include a lot of girls in their instagram post, always being the same girls every time. They consistently have very short skirts and somehow only other girls get told something about their skirt that is not even close to how those other girls wear it. They want you to have the expensive vicki marsha uniform, even if simple amazon products are almost the exact same and save you money because YOU ALREADY PAY TUITION. They care about the logo. They care about what sweaters you're wearing for the day, no matter if you bought it and it is from SJ. They are consistently yelling at the students, sending emails upon emails in all capitals telling them something about their uniform that isn't allowed and how they will do something if students don't abide. It always will end with " If students dont abide, {insert punishment". They will hunt people down from class to class or even stand outside to catch someone with a simple uniform problem and give them detentions with a smile on their face. They will send students home if they're out of uniform, even something as simple as colored shoes, give detentions to students who ever have their phone, will stare at students each time they step foot near the deans that watch them, but as soon as it comes to an academic concern that students have such as a teacher not doing a great job, they will ignore it. Thats when it suddenly becomes the students fault, even if there are multiple complaints. They barely do things to accommodate the student's academic concerns and student's have to deal with it most of the time. Students are left to figure out the problem and that could even mean lower grades. The only way you succeed is it the teachers like you or if you have a good teacher that teaches and will test you exactly on what was taught. Academics are extremely important in high school, yet somehow uniforms and disciplining students is their priority. Don't send your girl.
