My 11 year old son attended Climbnasium for a birthday party and had a blast. He received a gift card shortly after, so I took a belaying class so that he could go top roping with his gift card. The class was informational and thorough, and the instructor made sure I was doing it safely and confidently before sending us off on our own. There were a paths with varying difficulties and my son was able to challenge his limits. There were more people in there than I expected, but there was plenty of space for everyone, and everyone was very courteous and encouraging. He also did some bouldering. He can't wait to go back! i wish i got to climb at this place while i was growing up!! nonetheless i remember to pack my climbing shoes now when preparing to visit home, staff and other climbers here are really friendly and it's way better than supporting movement gyms which is closest to where i live. there's a lot of character at this spot and photos of others climbing, it's lowkey and cute! read more

Good facility and knowledgeable staff. Took my scout troops here. There were age appropriate areas for each of the younger and older groups. We used the party room downstairs to gather. The place could be cleaner and would have appreciated a scout or military discount. read more

This place was recommended by one of my friends who goes here often. My husband decided to try it out on a Saturday afternoon. It was nice and well-organized, the employees were kind. I think, with the pandemic still going on, they need to place a restriction on how many people are in the building at once, especially since there is not a mask requirement. It is a small building with only a few walls for bouldering. Out of the hour that my husband and I were there, we only got maybe 15 minutes of good climbing time. read more

This is Central Pennsylvania's original, and still best climbing gym. They offer bouldering, top roping, and lead climbing. The instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable. It's great for beginners and the hard core climber alike. They replace the routes and boulder problems on a weekly basis. What a cool gym!! I admittedly come from a very commercialized climbing gym (shout out to Climb So iLL!!), so the appearance of the gym was a little disconcerting at first. The gym is actually housed in a 3 story home! This place has so much history though, and it's a great place for training. They have 3 floors, tons of bouldering with decent wall heights, a good number of top rope routes, and I was impressed with the number of hang boards and training boards. They even have free weights! And a very shiny new moon board. I wish the gym could accommodate more lead climbing -- there's not a ton of space, and it seems like you mostly have to bring your own draws (besides the one overhung lead route up the ceiling). But that's just me griping. Staff and climbing community are all super friendly! Definitely coming back. I bet this place would be great for those just starting out climbing too. read more

I recently visit the facility. I must say, this place is definitely different than the facility I went to in Cali. There are some pro and cons over the other facility Pros: The toprope climbing are maybe 5-10 feet higher than the one in Cali. Decent size bouldering. Not crowded, well at least today it wasn't. Price is slightly cheaper. Cons: No gym. This really made me sad since sometimes it is nice to just lift weight or get on the treadmill or the bicycle. I did not see a changing room, but I may have missed it since it was a quick tour today. However, I will probably be come a member since there are no other facilities close by. Anyone interested in rock climbing or already a member. I am looking for more people to rock climb with. Mainly indoor since I am still a beginner. read more

Climbnasium has a great vibe and community of climbers who support the gym. They pack a lot into a small space. It's a climbing spot in a barn, which makes sense because it's central Pennsylvania. This place is neat! Looks can be deceiving because from the outside it looks like a dilapidated, trashy barn. Also, it's a lot bigger than it looks. It has a whole downstairs you can climb in! Don't forget to climb to the top of the sun and sign your name in the book! =) One thing I will say, this place REEKS. They should really do something about that. I came on a Wednesday evening and it was extremely packed, totally wasn't expecting that much crowd. So I had to wait, or check back with a set that I wanted to do. We just had our daughter's eight birthday party here this evening! Staff were absolutely fabulous with all 13 kids! Most of the kids have never climbed. Some were fearless and some were fearful but the staff were great with all of the personalities!
