This place is very racist. If you are a Black man, I would not recommend going to this residential…read morerehab program. Whenever there is an issue between a person of color and a person of another race, the person of color gets in trouble the most, and receives the harshest punishment. I am a veteran, and they made it seem like their veterans program was decent, but it was not. The veterans are housed in the back house known as ETP, and share the same house with old and disabled men. The old men in the ETP house do not clean up after themselves, they stink badly, poor hygiene, and they are very racist towards Black men as well. They fabricate unethical scenarios and report it, and the staff almost always take their word over the person of color. The food there is horrible. They serve processed chicken every single day. There are only three groups per weekday and 8/10 times the counselors do not show up on time or at all to run the group, leaving you with an abundance of idle time. When the counselors do show up for groups, they tend to talk about themselves more than anything. The residents in the ETP house with severe mental illnesses tend to steal other peoples property. The facility takes 5-6 months to give you your personal needs allowance, and you can only take out $100.00 at a time. So you won't have any money for the first 5 months of being there. They are very harsh on the guys communicating with the girls, even if it's just a simple greeting. Not all of the staff are on the same page, some staff allow the men from the front house to hang out with men from the back house, and some staff do not allow it, claiming it's their policy. There's really nothing to do there nor outside of there. The neighborhood is boring. In the cold/winter months every guy has to walk outside in the freezing cold, and snowy weather to get breakfast lunch and dinner, since it's only served in the women's house. I can't emphasize enough how racist it is there. So if you are a black man or a young black veteran please be careful, because they will mistreat you, and when you react, they will punish you hard. I can say that the Black staff looks out for the Black clients, because they are aware of how racist the staff is, but the Black employees have the shortest shifts. Overall, I would not recommend Pheonix House Ronkonkoma to any young people, any young black people, or any young veterans. The quality of care there is terrible. You have to wait weeks-months for appointments with the primary physician and the psychiatrist.. The psychiatrist is great though, I love her so much. She made me feel heard and helped me tremendously...I served 4 years in the Marine Corps overseas in Okinawa, and I have my B.S. in Psychology. I recently resigned from a high profile federal position due to my substance abuse disorder. I'm also a city boy, from Brooklyn... My experience may not be your experience at Phoenix house, so go at your own risk. I'm 100% sure there are better options than pheonix house ronkonkoma. I wish there was someone around my age (26) to share their experience at pheonix house ronkonkoma before I agreed to go there. 2/10, would not recommend.

Let me start by saying I have been seeing different therapists since I was 17 years old and never…read morequite found one that fit, that is until I began therapy with Ms. Ross. She has more certifications than all of my other therapists combined and serves a wide clientele. She has helped me tremendously, working to become the best person I can be. Her certifications range from Marriage counseling which I have taken advantage of, to being an OASAS certified provider, to being an expert on Fibromyalgia a disease I suffer from. Her knowledge of all facets of mental health has truly led me to get more out of the 2 years/1x a week I see her than the 15+ years of therapy I had been in combined. That is saying a lot because one therapist I saw 3 times a week for 4 years and did not have many breakthroughs. I consider myself very lucky to have found a therapist that I can tell truly cares about my life, because she has been an advocate for me and has coordinated with my psychiatrist, court and probation. I would recommend seeing Ms. Ross to anyone that is having a tough time in life in general, with a significant other or for one of her specialties like anger management or drugs and alcohol. Even if you are not the one using drugs or alcohol but you need help in dealing with someone who is she is fantastic. I cannot say enough positive things about her because when a professional truly helps and understands you it is worth GOLD. Ms. Ross is always on time, always remembers specific issues, most importantly for me she doesn't just let you run away with the session she centers you and keeps you on topic and seems to always know the right thing to say. I have been a patient for 2 years almost and every session I leave thinking about what she said and implementing it into my life and have found my relationships are better and I am taking much less medication. Ms. Ross is also very knowledgeable on medication and it's pros and cons and is more than willing to be an advocate for you. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up I owe this woman so much for improving my life. I don't usually write reviews but I felt compelled to because I encourage you or someone you know to book an appointment and see for yourself the professionalism and help she has to offer. She has helped me in every aspect of my life and if have been searching for a great therapist it is Jamie Ross!

One therapist from this office actually tried to take a call while she was at a wedding - never said anything ahead of time or prior to session and tried to get me off the phone with a check in and kept asking if I was hungover. - Meaning I will still be charged for the session but we only just checkin in for 5 minutes. Unprofessional no quality in sessions many times. Child always crying in background during session and therapist constantly moving around as if she was having a casual call. No quality. Another therapist will show up 10 minutes late and not acknowledge or apology for being late. Last I checked a 45 minute session losing 10 minutes of talk time is 25% of the session you paid for. Lastly when you contact the office to explain why you need another therapist Barbara will say well "it only happened that one time." Sorry, I was not aware we should allow or sessions that we pay for to develop continuously before we speak up. Terrible. I'd give this place zero stars if Yelp would allow. Wouldn't expect this from a business that is supposed to be providing Support and help to those who need it. I encourage all to do detailed reviews before you waste your copays and insurance money on places like this. All the best to those looking for treatment.
