A fluke that I ended up here because the road that it's on is filled with motels but for 2 double beds, your own kitchen and bathroom for $90 with tax/night, it's not bad at all. This place is only rated as a 2 star motel; there's no air conditioning but it's pretty cool in there. Saint John is generally cooler and there's a ceiling fan and a stand up fan in your room. I had Room 12 which again, had 2 double beds but also a fold out couch. The place does give breakfast but it's not like eggs and such. It's cereal, coffee and a few pastries. It's fine if you don't care that much. My party had 4 people that needed to sleep and with a McDonalds just down the road, it was no biggy. Anyway, the owners keep the place clean, they are very friendly and are there to help with whatever they can (tourism, questions, etc.). My only real complaint about this place is that you can't reach the office via phone inside the room.... main reason because they don't have one in there. You have to reach them via a toll free number. Otherwise, if you're looking to save some money, come check out this place. Sure I didn't get to look at any other rooms but if you need space for 4+ people, ask for room 12.

Down sides: the desk is dominated by a microwave, and is not suitable for any kind of work, and there are some of the expected maintenance issues one will find in a private hotel.

Beautiful views, recreation included 2 pools, fitness room and bikes. Staff was very polite outgoing and attentive. Would love to return.

I am on a work trip and I have to hang up nice shirts and dresses. There's nowhere for me to put anything except for two drawers. And No ironing board??? I mean... Do they want me to have to call down there and ask for someone to bring it to me so then I have to spend $10 and tip somebody? No. also, the amenities in the room are very lacking. There's one teeny little thing of body lotion and a little small bar of soap. Usually at least you get some cotton balls and some Q-tips :-) there is a coffee maker but no to-go cups so I can't take it in the car. Then I was starving and when I got here and checked in at the front desk, I was told that I could order from Braxton's and take it up to my room and I could not wait to get a steak, but they wouldn't even let me take a steak to my room. Their response was no you can sit at a table but we can't let you take anything to go. The steak would not be good by the time you got it up to the room and would not be the right temperature. Wait what? I'm on the second floor. The hotel is very small. It's two seconds to my room. And what about what if I want that?! I said i didn't care if it's a little warm when I get it to my room. I said I wanted a steak. And you're not gonna let me take it to my room? I don't understand. I did not want to socialize. I've been traveling all day. I did not want to have to clean up and sit in a loud public place. I just wanted a good steak and a Caesar salad. So I had to order room service, which has maybe 5 entrees to choose from. Lastly- When I called about two weeks ago and asked since I've been in marriott bonvoy customer since 2008 if they could upgrade me to a balcony room (and for context last time i did not have any trouble doing that - they upgraded me with no )....this time they told me that they would have to charge me $150 more a night to do that. Good thing that the company is paying for this because if I was, I'd be furious.

The price is ok for off season, I don't know if I'd be willing to pay $50 more during the summer though, maybe $25 more. Complimentary doughnuts and weaksauce coffee in the morning. (I like some pow to my coffee) Staff seems nice and the locals are friendly. St. Andrews is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. For the price you won't find a better spot on the water.

We are not experiencing any undo noise. It's also safe for us to walk around at night to the many good restaurants and bars. A pedway is nearby to the shops. Only having one key to share could be a bit tricky, but we did everything together, so it didn't affect us. We were able to back in to our designated parking stall with no trouble. Online check in instructions were clear. I'm so very impressed with how clean everything is.

IMHO, no need to look elsewhere for a very comfortable stay at a reasonable rate ($110 all-in, off-season) in uptown Saint John. I rarely give 5-star ratings and I suspect the other Chipman Hill Suites are just as comfortable and convenient. Incidentally, guests of Chipman Hill Suites are welcome for lunch at the nearby Union Club on weekdays whether members of the private establishment or not. Next time I'll make a point of taking advantage of this offer at yet another historic "golden age" building.

We didn't try any but the coffee wasn't half bad. As for the room itself - it was pretty quiet and the shower got hot very quickly. The beds were okay (a little squeaky and not very soft). There was a microwave and a mini fridge and plenty of extra pillows. Overall a reasonable stay and very close to the interstate and all of the stores and sights in Saint John. Great for the price.

First, we entered the cabin to find it was not cleaned or prepared for us. The amount of dead bugs and frass lining every single wall and corner of the cabin, under the beds and couches, etc., was absolutely disgusting. The thought of my 5 year old playing on this floor and walking around barefoot completely skeeved me out. My husband found a broom and dustpan in one of the closets and spent over an hour sweeping it all out. The worst part about this was that I was charged a $150 cleaning fee as part of my final invoice before arriving. We got a hold of Ross who was apologetic and said he would refund the cleaning fee (the cleaning lady "forgot" to prep our cabin). He also said it had been about three weeks since someone had last used the cabin, so that's what happens when it sits empty. I received an email later that day confirming that $95 had been refunded to my card which honestly did not feel adequate, we assumed it was going to be a full $150 refund considering how much we'd already paid to rent the cabin and that we had to waste our time cleaning it ourselves. The coffee maker was also a disgusting mess, filled with scale and years of coffee grounds stuck to everything where grounds were not supposed to be. It took almost an hour to scrape clean and then scrub - this thing had clearly never been cleaned, ever. We even contemplated going out and buying a new coffee maker altogether but there's nowhere in the area to go for anything like that. The hot water heater had not been turned on for us so it took awhile once we figured that out to get hot water. Fine. But now for the worst part. The cabin has well water which we're used to from home, but the sulfur smell was so strong it made the entire stay a nightmare. The well desperately needs to be treated. Ross told us to run the water for awhile and trust me, we did (for a very, very long time) and it didn't help at all. I couldn't get over the smell of rotten eggs for the entire 5 days we were there. Every single time the water was turned on (even for a few seconds) it started all over again and I needed to step away. I couldn't wash my face without gagging uncontrollably, and the lingering smell after turning the water off meant having to constantly open up all the windows to air out the cabin and sometimes even go for a walk after the water was on for awhile or hide in our bedroom with the door shut. I think I'm scarred from this, we went to breakfast one day and the smell of eggs made me gag.. it's going to take awhile to get over. All I can say is thank god we had family staying in the two nearby cabins. I was able to go shower and wash up there each day instead, though having to walk over in the pitch dark at night through grass that's completely filled with goose poop was not fun. I'm so glad I paid $265+ per night to not be able to use my own running water. Never again. From the moment we arrived I was counting the minutes until we could leave, especially since our bed had seen better days and my husband and I couldn't get good sleep for the entire stay. Weeks of chiropractic work was undone after sleeping on this miserable old mattress for 5 nights. Pros: Great view and we made some really nice fires in the fire-pit each night. That's about it. The property is nice and serene, just be sure you're an outdoorsy person and don't mind the smell of rotten eggs if you're considering booking.

The charming old building is in a neighborhood where some of the fine old mansions have been renovated while others need repair and look run-down. This one is a handsome brick building just a few blocks from excellent seafood restaurants and the waterfront. The hosts, who have just bought the B&B recently, are sweet and personable. Our room was big and beautiful with gorgeous wood floors. Our room was not en suite, but we got a huge, stunning old bathroom (with a huge jacuzzi) a few doors away that was only for us and that we could keep locked. The bed was comfortable and the whole place was completely quiet at night. And in the morning, while eating a well-cooked, delicious breakfast of eggs and sausage (guests get a choice of breakfast dishes), we met several fascinating guests and enjoyed the conversation with them and the owners tremendously. Staying here was a real treat.
