I received yet another compliment on an item I bought at Clock Tower thrift today - time to update my review! This thrift store is pretty well organized, given that it's run largely by volunteers and they process so many donations daily. I've picked great, reasonably priced clothing for work (LL Bean/GAP/Talbots etc) mostly separates and the occasional dress) and items like a Tiffany sunglasses case, two gemstone necklaces, a pair of Cole Haan loafers a few men's polos for my son. Great selection of Halloween costumes, Xmas decor - in season - and pieces of unique/quality china and serving dishes, even a solid wood side table for $40. Great for customers like me AND for the great cause. read more

Nice collection of clothes and shoes and they are all great quality. The volunteer who rung me up forgot to take the 25% off. I did not realize until I got to my car. I went back in and what seemed to be a manager corrected the mistake quickly and apologized. read more

I was visiting the Northern Virginia area and had a thrifting mission to gather plates and glassware for a party. I visited five different thrift stores and the Clock Tower Thrift Shop was by far my favorite. In a relatively tight space they have organized a lot of merchandise. Their prices are very reasonable, especially their discounted clearance items. The staff was extremely helpful. Plus it all goes to good cause! This thrift store was a hit or miss for me. I visited late Nov 2021 while in the area. The outside looks like a dump with items that look discarded (only there are for sale) and a heaping pile of clothes, shoes, toys on the ground. Still, I love me some thrift so I ventured inside. Inside was more of the same, although a bit more organized. It is very tight! Don't bring a stroller, wheelchair, or large handbags. Best to leave kids at home because things are piled haphazardly on top of each other. Prices were kind of all over the place. Some were priced like an antique store, others more like a yard sale. There wasn't rythm or reason or even consistantancy to the pricing. As a reseller I'm always looking for vintage, specifically 70's, and older linens. This department did not disappoint although I had to spend a good bit of time digging through mounds and piles of linens to find the treasures that made it home with me. This place is by no means clean, and furniture, etc that comes home with you will definately need elbow grease more than other stores. I believe it was a South American family that ran it. English was poor, but it's thrift, aside from ringing out and getting them to access an obscure item piled deep you really don't need their assistance. I'd stop here again if I was in the area and allow myself more time now that I know how rough the organization is. read more

This thrift shop in Falls Church accepts furniture donations and helps to provide financial support to Northern Virginia Family Services (NVFS). I came here on a Monday at 12pm to donate 6 dining room chairs (Ethan Allen). For donations, you can ring the outdoor bell on the back door entrance to the facility. The staff member came right away and was very helpful. He inspected the chairs before moving and placing 2 of the chairs in the front outdoor area of the thrift shop. My teenage son and I helped to move the remaining 4 chairs. It was really an easy process. read more

Used to be one of my favorite thrift stores in the area. Not sure they should be using thrift in the name anymore maybe thrift/collectible store. They price anything they think is slightly worth a buck through the roof. They price stuff like a high end collectible store then have the box taped shut with a sign saying "as is" Seems like they find the highest asking price on eBay and match it. It's a shame. I think the time has run out for this old clock tower. read more

This place used to be a really nice store to find nice used things and antiques under the previous owners. The store was interesting to spend time looking for goods and treasures besides the volunteers and employees very reliable and helpful but now, I won't recommend to anyone. I have been there browsing a few times and I can say truly say that they're difficult and definitely rude. It feels very unpleasant to talk to them besides the 2 younger adults I met there. read more

Not for the claustrophobic or meek of heart. While you can find some hidden gems in this store, "hidden" is often more literal than figurative. Clock Tower hasn't quite figured out their store's orientation and is frequently moving sections around, sometimes making it hard to walk or to push over a hanger on the rack, so you can't even see what is available. I don't know how the fire marshall hasn't investigated this place, because there is way too much stuff in a small space which is completely unorganized. Tip: Avoid bringing small children here at all cost, especially if you regularly use a stroller. A stroller will not fit in the aisles, not even an umbrella stroller. read more

I am completely used to seeing a lot of crowded and gross thrift stores, but MY. GOD. This place was disgusting! I walked in and was slapped in the face by the musky smell and uninviting glances from the staff. This place just had a grimey look and feel to it. (side note: totally used like 4 squirts of hand sanitizer once I got back in my car.) Not to mention, I could hardly even navigate the store. The rows are very narrow and they have about million people wandering aimlessly down them. It's really awkwardly organized too- VCR tapes mixed in with the women's clothing? If that's the sorta thing that you're into I guess... Prices were inconsistent. Some things I found reasonable, others I was like "hell no, I wouldn't even pay that much if it was brand new". And all I'll say about parking is...... good luck. I didn't find anything there at all, but other reviewers say that inventory comes through often, so who knows. I don't think I'll be coming back to find out. read more

I don't really shop here much (or at all) but it is my first place to go to donate things. I've donated thousands of dollars worth of stuff the past few years (my stuff and stuff from many other people)--a lot of it practically new because I have wasteful friends who buy new things and have to get rid of new things to make space for their new things. So, I know for a fact they have had (or currently have) a lot of high quality merchandise. If there's any problem with the place it is that the space is small and cramped... parking lot can get cramped, too. It's also an old building. I run into the manager (I assume she's the manager) a lot when I donate things and she's very nice. Anyway, it's associated with Northern Virginia Family Service. I would guess their profits go towards the work the charity does rather than finding a bigger space. Better it goes to the charity than finding a bigger space (unless they find something cheap). I recommend the place but you're not walking into Macy's... you're walking into a second-hand store that is working for charity and isn't the size of a Goodwill or Salvation Army. read more

I like to call this place "The Treasure Trove of Falls Church." This place is truly amazing...really. I have lived in Falls Church MY WHOLE LIFE and never entered this store until about mid January 2021. Since that first visit I have made a trip every weekend since! They have a fair-sized floor yet they pack A TON of quality things in a limited area. They have an ABUNDANCE of clothes for men, women, and children, including sweaters, coats, work pants, jeans, shorts, blouses, dresses, shoes, and just much much more. I was even able to pick a number of quality brands of clothes for next to nothing...SCORE!!! (now I've got really nice clothes for work;D.) They've got a section for everything, and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. Kitchen stuff, (cups, mugs, pots, crock pots, glassware cutlery, plates, china...essentially every single thing you could find in a kitchen) work out equipment, tech equipment, living room furniture, cameras, books, video games, kids toys, jewelry, boxed goods...you get the picture. The staff is as sweet as honey and the volunteers there are as helpful as bees in a beehive! Also not to mention when you donate you get a 25% (could be 20%, my memory is failing me for that) coupon for the store!!! Talk about give a little, get a little!!! Oh yeah...I forogt to mention their music selection. Take a guess... it's GREAT. SO many throwbacks that you might find yourself dancing or singing while shopping LOL. I've never met a staff that goes the extra mile as much as Ninfa and her associates do to build relationships with their community. The store itself has beautiful pieces ranging from furniture to clothing, even designer items and antiques. The variety never disappoints, there's a whole section dedicated to books, children's toys, and kitchen items. Anything you can imagine needing, you can most likely find :) The staff is warm and friendly and very attentive; they work very hard to ensure that the items for sale are in good condition and good value. The place is crowded but that is a good thing. I give all my donations to clock tower because they do good. I have read other reviews of price hikes but people need to remember they run off donations and the money goes to helping others and they have to pay the rent. These people are giving back to their community and doing the best they can. This is one of my favorite places to go and visit. I get these ideas in my head of something that I want to find and this will be the first place I'll go. Almost every time I find exactly what I want. I also find that the staff is most accommodating and are very cheerful whenever I have a question about something. The other day I wanted to see an item on a top shelf, I asked for assistance and immediately a young man grabbed a ladder and brought it down for me to view. I didn't want it and he said, "No problem, I am happy to help out." One of my favorite items I bought was a small table, it wasn't in perfect condition but the shape was really cool. I painted it myself with chalk paint that I bought from Stylish Patina on Maple Avenue in Falls Church and I ended up with a totally "original" work of art :) I know it must be really hard work keeping a thrift store in an organized condition as items of all shapes and sizes come in fast and furious. The staff really does an outstanding job trying to sort and present items quickly, efficiently and attractively. I like this place a lot! read more

I went in today to check it out because in the past I've found some pretty good pieces. Things are double the price and not in good condition at all. Few great items at crazy high prices!!!! The worker literally googling every single item selling them at retail price. I did want to walk out with something so I picked out a beaded seashell bag for $25. Walked by a jewelry case and noticed some earrings. They were listed at $40. Asked if they could work with the price and they stated they'd take off $10 bucks. Ended up passing on it just because I didn't want to fully commit to it. Walked out with the purse but then felt hmmm I want the earrings. My husband went back in and with the receipt. No where in the store was there a sign that said no returns or exchanges. I just wanted to return the bag and pay the difference for the earrings. But no they wouldn't work with us. And this was only 5 mins of walking out of the store. Will not go back. I don't recommend this place. New owners suck! Nope never going back again. read more

This girl is a big ol' mess. On an early Saturday afternoon a cacophony of broken dishes, people tripping over poorly placed merchandise, employees bickering and a low murmur of patrons fills the air. I have a love/hate thing with this little tick tock junk joint. Over the years I've had a few issues with the employee/customer interaction process. Most recently I had an employee place a box of dishes on my foot and then walk away before uttered my traditional profanity-laced response- maybe it was better that way. On a positive note, this place is junky and It's kinda like going into a hoarder's house. The junkier the store, the better the prices and the better the turnover. They usually have decent deals on furniture and often times there's good variety. Every so often there's a diamond in the rough int he midst. Verdict: Good for a quick stop along a junk store diving spree. Good turnover with decent prices keep me coming back for more even if I frequently walk out empty handed. Love, love, love this place. It's a true thrift store in my mind where you have to dig through all kinds of kitschy crap and actual crap to get to the gems. I have found so much stuff here it's ridiculous. Books, clothes, belts, bags, ridiculous art, glassware, random kitchen tools, some CDs. I could go on, and on, but I don't want to ruin the fun. Give this place a try only if you enjoy the experience of thrifting, otherwise I'm certain you won't like Clock Tower. But if you are that rare person, who like me, is excited by the thought of killing an hour browsing through racks and racks of ridiculous kitsch to find that one thing you must have, then you won't be disappointed by Clock Tower. read more

Best place in NOVA to acquire casual beach and airplane reading - 3 trade paperbacks for $1, organized in the back of the shop by author. Tons of other stuff too, but it is so crowded with merchandise, it is overwhelming. When they have furniture (not often) it and other larger items tend to be displayed out front. Best find: Handcrafted wooden motorcycle rocker for $30. I'll be back. read more

This is an awesome thrift store to shop-- I always find some things I "need" when I drop in. It IS crowded. It IS questionably organized. But folks, it is a THRIFT SHOP! They have good housewares and lots of small oddities. My one quibble is that volunteers gather huge bins of items off the shelves (to make room for new things, presumably) while folks are shopping! It's very distressing to hear dishes and glasses and whatever else being thrown around then tossed out while a sign outside says "Donations Needed." I do not to donate to Clock Tower, since I don't like the idea of my donations ending up in the dumpster at week's end. read more
