I tried multiple times to contact them regarding an issue that needed to be resolved, but my calls and messages were repeatedly ignored. I specifically asked to speak with the property manager and never received a call back from her. The complete lack of communication, professionalism, and basic courtesy is shocking. If this is how Prose Rhyne treats residents when there is a simple issue that should be easy to resolve, I can only imagine how much worse it would be when dealing with a serious problem. You do not want to live here if these are the people managing the property. Based on my experience, I would not trust this management team to be capable of handling anything.

Water's Edge is a townhouse community right off of i-85 on the Belmont/Mount Holly boarder. It's…read morevery conveniently located next to the Stowe Family YMCA and even has a walking path from the neighborhood to the Y. The community includes a swimming pool with located gate (you'll have to pay $5 for a gate key) and you'll find all the mailboxes located at the front of the complex. It's a quiet, small neighborhood and is also one of those complexes which never really got finished, or in a positive light, still has potential to expand. They say it's "lake front" but unfortunately the lake front properties still haven't been built, there's a road leading off to the land, but it ends and "no trespassing signs" are posted. Other than that, it's a typical neighborhood: trash is picked up every Wednesday with recycling every other week. Townhouses have their own garages and the "ranch style" apartments have parking out front. There is limited visitor parking. But, if you're looking for a quiet community, about 20 minutes from Charlotte and convenient to a YMCA, Water's Edge might be where it's at for you.

The neighbor who lived below us was a chain smoker, and we could smell it 24-7. Both our clothing and furniture reeked of it. Embarassing when you're a non smoker. Also, the houses that border the complex have posed issues. We were told by a neighbor that there was a drug bust at a rental house behind our building. There were also issues with neighborhood kids damaging cars, and throwing live firecrackers onto our balconies late at night. It's not the worst place you could live, but for almost $800+ a month, it could definitely be better.

The gym is state of the art with every piece of equipment you could imagine. The amenities here are second to none. The rent is unbelievably cheap compared to places nearby. I also like that it is really quite here and there doesn't seem to be a bunch of partying going on. The leasing staff is super friendly and they always remember my name which is nice. We also have community get-togethers around twice a month which is nice as well. I highly highly recommend this place if your looking for a new apartment to live in.

On the surface, the Alta Grove Apartment Homes appear to be a peaceful and pleasant place to live:…read moreconvenient location, manicured grounds, roomy apartments with plenty of closet and storage space. Looks, however, can be very deceiving. What I experienced as a resident was cheap and barely serviceable appliances, groaning water pipes, grimy breezeways, filthy landings, poorly maintained common areas and noise. Noise was a big problem, and not just the frequent and loud entertaining of guests by a neighbor. Common everyday sounds (people talking, cleaning appliances, traffic, etc.) that are normally not a disturbance if living in a dwelling of quality construction thoroughly penetrate the thin walls and floors of Alta Grove. Not surprisingly, the lease includes several indemnity provisions, one of which specifically addresses "everyday" sounds and all of which serve the purpose of relieving the landlord from any liability should the lessee's right to quiet enjoyment be violated. While I agree that the inherent nature of multifamily living precludes the expectation of a completely noise free environment, a tenant should not have to endure nightly sleep disturbance from the incessive and ongoing droning of a neighbor's bathroom fan, for example. In fairness, the office did respond quickly to unreasonable noise complaints but, I found, was not willing to do anything substantial to resolve them; and, protected by the lease, they didn't really have to. A maintenance technician's resolution to a loud refrigerator motor complaint was to inform me "They're all loud." I knew then I'd have to learn to live with the disturbances until I could change my living situation. Aside from noise, I found management's failure to implement simple community standards another disappointment. It is quite common for some residents to routinely speed through the property, ride through with car stereos blasting at all hours, fail to clean up after their pets, abuse the limited parking, throw trash from their decks - the list goes on. While each separately may be just a minor annoyance, collectively they have a decidedly negative impact of the quality of living at Alta Grove. My lease was ending just as a string of car break-ins on the property began.
