I've had multiple instances where I've needed to call security and the number they have given their residents (314-314-5770) is the companies universal line. You cannot be connected to anyone who is at the actual apartment for issues. This is extremely frustrating as if there was an emergency, you wouldn't be able to contact anyone. Another thing, they do not enforce any quiet hours so as a student, this is also pretty frustrating. There will be people screaming and shouting at the basketball court at 1 AM and you can't call security because they don't have any contact information. Not only that, the cleanliness is another issue. They do not clean units in between leases and for those looking at anything that's not a one bedroom, the communal spaces are horrendous. The floors have never been cleaned a day in their life and the roommate situation is poor. I have had two different sets of roommates and all of them were nasty. There are also so many families in this complex. It makes me so sad seeing little children have to grow up in this monstrosity. The garage doors only work once a year and if the fire alarms are going off, it shuts the electricity off to the entire building. You cannot leave the garage if you do not want to listen to the alarms for hours. I have had multiple experiences with homeless people who camp out at night and drunk naked people in the hallways. Again, the security is just nonexistent. Overall, I hope this apartment complex seeks some help and is able to improve. It's sad that college students who are in need of "affordable" housing that this is one of the only options. I've read multiple reviews that sound very similar to mine and still, management has done nothing to improve these situations. Please, use this review to hear our complaints and do something about it. This is just not right.

Also a cheap rubber wristband for the pool is $10 if you don't return it... as if they reuse a cheap wristband. Before moving in with people I know I lived with random roommates which had lived in the 4 bedroom apartment awhile before me. Despite only being there for 6 months I was charged for the wear and tear they caused in the common areas including the ridiculous explosion of caramel which was not my fault. Ok... Once moving in with familiar faces and my brother I moved out after a year. My fees were $513 this time and again included more common area fees which I again did no contribute to. They don't seem to factor into the amount of time spent in the room into the fees and also charged me for bedroom painting damages which is ridiculous as I did not damage the paint on the walls in my short time there. Despite days of vigorous cleaning which you must do after you move out, they will charge you $80 cleaning fees even if the rooms are spotless. At building 7 there is also not nearly enough parking especially when people who don't even live there park to use the Basketball court. Negatives aside the location of Aspen is great, the Apartments are nice and staff is friendly. I'll put it like this: A good place to live if you're a UNCC student but a HORRIBLE place to move out of. So she moved into the unit on August 3, 2024. Upon my arrival to move my daughter into the complex, we discovered the apartment she was moving into was vacant since March 2024. The "secure" gate was wide open providing access to whomever wanted to get in without proper access. This gave the complex ample time to clean, make needed repairs, and paint the unit. They did nothing to the unit except delay the move-in date hoping they could invoke the move-in early fee of $500.00 (in my opinion). The place was also infested with bugs. I spent the day cleaning and moving and Aspen Heights Yugo Charlotte Downs should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of college kids. I am sorry that I didn't use the delayed move-in date to cancel the contract. Do not be fooled by their "friendly we are here for you" attitude. DON'T believe the HYPE they tell you. In our last month living there, we had going on about a month of a broken washer/dryer, and like other amenities that stopped working, several delayed repair responses for these issues. The internet is absolutely horrible and it's been an ongoing issue since the day I moved in. Constant outages, unusable speeds, and empty promises that "it's being worked on." They even said they'd reimburse us multiple times for the inconvenience, but of course... that never actually happens. Dealing with the leasing office is a nightmare. The property manager and leasing agents are rude, dismissive, and honestly just caddy. Instead of helping you as a resident, they seem more focused on finding ways to squeeze every dollar they can out of you. They hit you with ridiculous fees after the fact, often without warning, and will conveniently "forget" to mention certain things up front until it's too late. It feels shady and predatory. And don't even get me started on the amenities. So many things they promise when you tour the complex either haven't worked for most of the time I've lived here or were never actually finished in the first place. For 2+ years, multiple advertised amenities have been broken, closed, or simply not installed at all. On top of all that, car break-ins are a huge problem here. It happens way too often, and management does next to nothing about it. It's ridiculous to be paying this much and still feel unsafe where you live. Overall, this place is all about appearances. They sell you on a lifestyle they don't deliver, then nickel and dime you while you deal with unreliable internet, unhelpful staff, safety concerns, and amenities that may or may not exist.
