Wow, these reviews really swing in one direction or the other, huh? Well, I've personally had…read moremultiple good experiences with them over the past 18 months or so. I was visiting my family last year when their A/C went out- of course when it passed 100 degrees. Honestly, I think it happened Thursday afternoon, but between the temp and humidity and spending a good part of the day outside doing yard work, I think we all just thought we were individually having a difficult time cooling down. It wasn't until late that night that it became obvious, so it was early Friday morning when I called. My parents told me they had used Barker's several times in the past and have always been very happy with them, so I looked up their number and called them ASAP. When they answered I explained that I knew this was a busy time of year for them but I was very worried about my father's health considering it broke 100 the day before. They took me very seriously and said they could have someone out between 10am and 12pm- better news than I could have hoped for! Roughly 30 minutes later, Boomer called me and told me he could be there in 15 minutes unless it was better for him to wait until 10am. I gladly told him to come right over. When he arrived I asked him to wait a moment while I finished securing the animals and got my father masked up before he came in to check the thermostat. He immediately offered to mask up as well, which was kind and more than I would have expected. He worked quickly, efficiently and thoroughly. He took our situation into consideration and really helped us out. The service fee was $119 and worth every penny. Several months later I found out the A/C was out again, this time while I was out of town. I decided to pay the annual membership fee over the phone when scheduling a visit. It includes free quarterly inspections, waived service fees and a percentage off work that has to be done. I think it ended up being around $185. It definitely worked out as the 26 year old unit had to be replaced. I also get texts when they are going out there and it's been really convenient. They've worked around my mother's schedule for the quarterly inspections and have been responsive when she needs someone to come out and help her. I really feel they are taking care of my mother and it's been worth renewing the membership fee again. I've had no issues with any of the techs that have come out or anyone in the office when I call. I recommend!

Be warned about slippery warranty coverage. My mother is older and was having issues with her HVAC…read more We bought a new and quite expensive HVAC from Barker's some two years ago. She also pays annually for the maintenance plan that supposedly comes with addition coverage benefits. My mom is on a very limited income and is still paying off the HVAC in monthly payments. One of the reasons we decided to go with a new HVAC rather than a repair was because we would be covered by the warranty and not have to spend any additional money for at least a number of years. Well, it turns out that's not the case. When they came out to check the HVAC yesterday, they determined that the compressor wasn't working correctly. It's working at too high a pressure and is putting a strain on our system. He recommended that we buy an adapter kit for $319 that would help the compressor work better and without it the compressor could go out, trigger breakers, and out a continued strain on the HVAC system. We asked about the warranty and basically they're blaming the manufacturer saying that "they" won't cover the replacement of the compressor unless it completely stops working all together, despite the fact that it is not working within the warranties coverage period. Barker's claims that they only cover the labor warranty and that there is nothing they can do. When I then asked if they were charging labor to install the adapter to fix the problem, they of course conceded that they are. This feels like a workaround for the warranty that we thought we purchased and away for Barker's to make additional money even though the HVAC they installed isn't working correctly. Basically, our HVAC is not working correctly but we need to spend more money to compensate for the gaps in warranty. A quick skim through the reviews shows a number of other reviews with warranty frustrations.

Our air conditioner stopped cooling and they were out and fixed the problem in no time at all…read more Thought it was surely going to cost an arm and leg but to my surprise it was quite reasonable. Thanks a lot guys! Update: July 20, 2017 5 stars only because 10 stars isn't an option. We needed them again for a completely unrelated issue. Quick response and obviously very focused on customer service. The technicians were so professional even in this Texas heat... in the attic! When our ac went out, one of the owners was at our home until 11pm making sure we were set for the night, until the new unit could be installed the next day. There was a little "glitch" that was completely out of their control, as there frequently are with larger projects, and the owner responded immediately to his technicians to the resolve the issue. We were very impressed with how the situation was handled and the level of professionalism between the owner and his technicians. Most people realize that their will ALWAYS be unforeseen issues arise and it's how the business handles them that defines the organization. Well done gentlemen!

Thay would not warranty the Unit and said i had to go thru my home owners warranty insurance. i wound up replacing the whole unit again for the second time and placed extra surge units and everything recommended. the new system has failed and i have placed multiple calls I get an automated response I talked to the Owner and His wife about the issue the last time they showed up and set the unit to auto and blamed us for improper adjustment of the thermostat one of the technicians prior to the owner showing up replaced the thermostat after the Technicians leaving the unit only ran a short time and faulted again my wife and I called multiple times and left messages with them to make this right I now have had two sperate companies look at it and say the failures is due to poor installation Oh and I forgot that when the new unit was installed 2 years ago the strap had broken and it leaks and messed up the ceiling in my den I complained and they said they were not responsible for the drywall repairs here I am paying cash for 2 systems that have failed my wife contacted the manufacture direct and they said the replacement should have been under warranty and the new system was not registered with the manufacture I called and spoke to the owner about this and he said it did not need to be registered so I am now over 22k into this and my only option is to contact legal assistance
