Cloud 9 Trails horseback riding was such a wonderful experience. We did the 1/2 day wilderness ride. Colleen was a great guide. She's wonderful to talk to along the way and she took us to some amazing spots. The views were amazing. The horses are extremely well trained and are very friendly, the whole range of calm horses to more energetic horses for all types of riders. The half-day was a perfect amount of time to enjoy the mountain, horse, friends on the ride, and get back in time to relax. Will definitely do again and recommend to friends and family. :) read more

Most amazing journey with best Pecos trail outfit! We are horse people and know skilled horse people and well cared for horses when we see them. Highly recommend. The owner will pair you perfectly considering all important factors for your ride, skill level, location, weather, etc. She's paying attention and on point. Went for a day ride in Peco's National Park out of Jack's Creek Campground to celebrate my daughter's graduation. Best decision ever. Colleen and her horses are professional, seasoned and trustworthy, which you best have for a ride like this. My child is an equine kid, hunter jumper - this was one of her first times out as a "cowgirl" and I was so grateful she was in such capable hands - and hooves! I'm not as seasoned as my daughter in the seat and was well matched with my trail horse and given good direction, which I of course listened to and was grateful for. The trail scenery in the Pecos is breathtaking. At one point we were high up looking over the entire Canyon. The beauty, grandeur and biodiversity is second to none. Aspen, Scrub Oak, cattle grass grazing who sweetly gathered nearby during lunch break to rest with us as we sat in a cove of Aspen = the best. Yes, it is a serious ride to be out in a saddle for a full day (you can choose to do a half day) and if you choose to do it at all, you will be changed for the better. Enjoy! This trip over the mesa near Pecos, NM was a wonderful experience! We enjoyed visiting with our guide, Colleen. And she had the perfect mounts for each of us. Bill, who is an experienced cowboy got to ride Wilbur, a big lineback dun horse was well trained, laid back and agreeable. I'm not a very experienced rider so I was put on Molly, a smaller sorrel colored mule. She was such a good girl she left me thinking mules have gotten a bad rap! After taking an extremely scenic route in the wrong direction thanks to Google Maps we got ahold of Colleen and made it to the mesa only a few minutes late. She was very gracious about that. Just don't trust Google Maps! Be sure you get directions while you're still able to get phone and internet access, it's not at all good past the town of Pecos. Overall we had a great time and would recommend this outfitter! Colleen told us it would be possible to have our art supplies packed up the mountain so we could set up way past the regularly beaten path to get in some plein aire painting! This past summer my daughters (8 & 10) and I went for a day ride with Allen. We were out west for a family vacation and the ride was to celebrate my birthday. We had a private ride for half the day and I cannot say enough about the experience. My daughters don't ride and my younger daughter was a bit nervous in the beginning. Allen, our Wrangler, was incredible and helped her during the ride to gain her confidence and almost immediately she was smiling and off the lead, enjoying herself. The ride itself is breathtaking and you gain in elevation until you come to the highpoint/viewshed and the opening of the forest with 360 degree views. Allen took beautiful photos of the three of us at this point so we would always have our memories. I truly cannot say enough about this experience and Cloud 9 Trails - they were incredible in every aspect of this adventure. I cannot wait to go back and have another trail ride. Thank you! read more
