This is a great experience with Cha'an Buddhism. I attended for roughly 2 1/2 years, before I had to move - I only wish Cincinnati offered such a refuge. The Sifu, the Venerable Shih Ying Fa (Michael Bonasso), is a caring, compassionate person, who has always had strong, helpful advice and as positive an influence to inspire others to follow the Dharma as he could have. It was so good to come here, after a long hectic day, to slip off my shoes and join the group to move quietly in a gentle, calming martial art similar to Tai Chi, in order to soothe our jangling energies so we could then sit, in meditation. This is a more structured style of Buddhism - some may say more masculine - that if you crave some gosh-darned peace in the world you should definitely carve out the time to visit. If their rituals are not familiar to you, that's okay - be in your "eternal student" mind - they are always willing to talk about their practices and why they do the certain things they do at the tea afterwards. I have never been a fan of organized religion - but this has to have been my most positive experience within that, and it is so good to be around compassionate people. One I would attend today, if I could. Many Blessings _/I\_ read more
