Needless to say, you should definitely try it out. Other than that drink, another reason I appreciated Urban Grind is because of its chill but modern ambience. There were a good number of couches - perfect for a chill hangout session with your friends. They also had work station-worthy tables, with accessible plugs to booth! It was great that I stopped by a couple of hours before lunchtime so I got to enjoy the place with just a couple of customers. I got to drink good coffee and work at the same time. I also liked this café's staff. They were all very helpful and accommodating, a specific trait I always look for in restaurants and coffee shops. At one point, I couldn't seem to get through their Internet connection; one of their waitresses walked up to me and helped me out, without me even asking her to! I come to 1771 whenever I want go somewhere nice as I truly believe that one's surroundings have the power to affect their mood and attitude. The interior is very elegant and easy on the eyes and the service is excellent as well. Some of my favorites on the menu are French toast with bacon, kesong puti fried in butter, salbacho pizza, lime butter prawns, and cocotte lamb shoulder chops.

What a great relief it would be if you forget to bring flowers for your date but because you took her to Flafe, you got to work your way around it by ordering flowers with your coffee. And yes, not stealing from the flower that is set on the table. That would be a not-so-good solution to the problem. What intrigues me is their bingsu. I think it's the Korean counterpart of the halo-halo or to the Japanese, it's like the kakigori. I think it's just perfect for the very humid weather because of the summer season and to take a break from the usual coffee and to veer away from the caffeine as well. All in all, I do find the place really pretty. It reminds of the the old Koreanovela Coffee Prince sans the uber dashing male baristas but I could care less because I'm always at cafes for the food and the beverages.

They've got a slew of different caffeinated drinks, fruit shakes and milkshakes, plus an assortment of desserts and rice meals. Prices aren't as steep compared to cafes like UCC, Starbucks or Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. The place, as I've mentioned earlier, is simple and quaint - a pretty good alternative to other shops and restos. It's got a cute little bar where they take your order, with small stacks of books on shelves. Not too mainstream but not hipster enough either. I only got to try their Iced Almond Roca when I swung by. There wasn't anything spectacular about the drink - just plain iced coffee with an aftertaste of almond. A little too sweet for my liking, to be honest. I had the drink to go so I'm still unsure of how they present their coffee or their plated dishes. But I am excited to go back and try out their food. Apparently the workers don't really expect anyone to arrive that early. The seating is very strange, both in layout and furniture choice. The booths feel like the tables are 4 inches too tall. It's like sitting in a giant's table. Also the are 4 person's deep which makes getting in and out the booths ackward. We had a meeting here so it was nice because it was empty but I think I lost my voice from having to have to sit over the speakers. Not coming back, but i wouldn't not recommend it. Highlands Coffee comes from Vietnam and so far holds the title for the only coffee in metro to make me hyper enough to jump and skip around with pointed toes. (Yeah, weird.) And that's coming from someone who regularly drinks coffee! The drink to give me this effect was the Café Sua Nong, coffee with condensed milk that came straight from the coffee drip. It's great! And it'll keep you awake like nothing else. You can also have it iced as the Café Sua Da. Okay, so aside from the mega-coffee, I also had their Smores Chocolate Cake. (Okay, so this may have added to my hyperness.) They have other pastries on their menu, as well as sandwiches, pasta, and some light meals. Highlands Coffee is the place to go for those who have too much blood in their caffeine system.
