There are three tiny cemeteries in this half mile area of Woodward Avenue north of Eight mile Rd. in Ferndale proper. Machpelah sitting in the middle. Created in 1912 it serves as a peaceful, respectable environment for the Jewish community in 'Olam. I have a grandparent and father in law resting here and have made numerous visits over the years. The surrounding neighborhood has been in decline for a few years. This has not had a large effect on the cemetery. The grounds are notoriously well kept and the maintenance is second to none. While we have had limited contact with anyone associated with the grounds, there is always the utmost respect shown. Maybe I'm old school mentality on this issue, but I feel it important to maintain this park for the benefit of the surviving loved ones that wish to pay their respects.

We were comfortable in the lobby and in the consultation room. We were offered complimentary bottled water, which is nice when you're bone dry from crying for hours straight. We made it clear from the beginning we didn't want a funeral or even viewing service. The salesperson was respectful of that and moved forward with going over cremation services. The cremation service itself is carried out by another company and was only like $600? But for some reason, the funeral home charges almost $3000 on top of that for their time and services. That seems wild to me for someone who didn't want viewing, mourning services, visitation, etc. It's expensive to live and it's expensive to die. The salesperson was friendly and mostly respectful, although we could hear the misogyny when he spoke to my husband directly, and not his sister, who was actually handling all the business. Don't like that. But he accommodated all of our simple requests without fuss. Besides the oldschool mentality of our salesperson, it was a fine place to spend a couple hours talking about a dead person.

I have never seen such an awful job on a loved one. It was so bad that the deceased was unrecognizable. The disappearance of beer and the attitude when asked about picking up the liquor was just disturbing and unprofessional. Another thing that happened was the fact that a family member left their cigarettes in a "safe" place so they did not have to carry them around in their pocket. It seems that someone there felt this meant it was a free for all and helped themselves to most of them. I am so glad I kept my purse with me at all times. Very little integrity here. The owner or manager really needs to screen their employees better and let them know that preying on grieving families is despicable and down right low. Karma...

Recently attended a wake/service for a family member. Although everything in the establishment was…read morebeautiful, a lot of other things were not quite so nice. First, I have no idea how they could have made my loved one look so unlike himself. From overzealous makeup to being able to see stitches - it was awful. When we asked where we could tuck away our personal items, we were initially told to stow our things in the large closet near the front door. Um, that was a long distance from where we'd be spending our time. It took two more inquiries to find out that there is a closet for family right by the entrance to the viewing room. When the long day ended, it was nice to see that employees ( a couple of girls, under 21 years old, were around all day and we assume that this was their job) had loaded a cart with left over food, soft drinks, wine and beer. BUT, when we loaded all of this into our vehicles, a 12 pack of beer was missing. Just disappeared. Also, one of the folks who came for the wake had placed a bottle of liquor in the casket. It was also missing. We realized all of this the next day. When a family member called to inquire where the liquor bottle was, there was some hesitation on the phone and then finally an admission that the liquor was still at the funeral home. We went to pick that up. It should have been on that cart! You can't cremate a bottle of booze and it did NOT belong to the funeral home. We did not bother with the beer - we had no proof that their employees took that, but everything was intact until everyone attended the closed door service at 7PM. It is completely unprofessional to have kept the liquor. And under age employees stealing beer? The people working here are disgusting, preying on the grieving and hoping we wouldn't notice the missing items. DO NOT send your loved one here for any reason. Truly despicable actions dressed up in a pretty package. Not to mention the horrible job in presenting our family member for visitation. One star is too high a rating!

Unfortunately, my family had to pull together a funeral for my dad unexpectedly in early May. Unexpected is the key word because if it's not already planned, all the decisions and details can be incredibly overwhelming - all while you're grieving. Mandziuk & Son were wonderful from start to finish, and helped make everything seamless. They guided us, were very professional, accommodating, and perhaps most importantly, helped us pull everything together incredibly quickly. For example, we picked out some pictures and some songs that they were able to create a nice memorial video for us within 24 hours. They also work closely with the churches and cemeteries so the family doesn't have to worry about coordinating any of that. With their help, I felt we were able to really honor my dad's life and for that I'll always be grateful.

She had thoughtfully paid for everything 32 years in advance, intending to spare us any burden. Unfortunately, after the original funeral home owner retired and transferred her contract to another funeral home, I encountered a very distressing situation with them that was dismissive, rude, and suddenly demanding additional money despite previously telling me everything was fully covered. I was shocked, overwhelmed, and honestly heartbroken all over again. That's when I found Mr. Patrick Lynch and Lynch & Sons Funeral Home--and everything changed. I called after hours on Friday and left a message, not expecting to hear back until Monday. To my surprise, Patrick Lynch called me back within 10 minutes. He spent 45 minutes on the phone with me, patiently explaining everything, going over the other funeral home's statement line by line, and helping me understand what was actually going on. He was calm, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. More importantly, he genuinely cared. For the first time since my mom passed, I felt a sense of peace and relief. I immediately knew I wanted to move my mother into their care. The next morning at exactly 10 AM, just as promised, his son Paddy Lynch called me. From that point on, everything was seamless. Paddy was kind, attentive, and so easy to work with. He handled every detail with grace and professionalism, making a very difficult process feel manageable. They helped me create a funeral that was truly beautiful and elegant--far beyond anything I could have hoped for. Even though my mother was not embalmed and went directly to the church, everything was handled flawlessly. One of the most special touches was the Juilliard-trained violinist, Sonia they arranged, which made the service incredibly moving and unforgettable. The entire experience was handled with such sensitivity, dignity, and care. In a time of deep grief and despair, Patrick and Paddy Lynch were not just helpful-- they were a source of light, compassion, comfort, strength and steady support. They treated me like family, not just a client. My mother's funeral was absolutely perfect--graceful, meaningful, and filled with love. I will be forever grateful to them for guiding me through one of the hardest moments of my life. I cannot recommend Lynch & Sons Funeral Home highly enough. I said that we'd find someone else who would be able to meet with us, which we did. The experience at the other place was significantly better than our experiences here. This funeral home is outdated, was never involved in our past funerals, and couldn't even meet with us. They lost a lot of money that day and a loyal customer.
