Let me stay upfront, I have played 12-14 / 18 hole rounds annually at Clover Valley during the past 10 years. For myself and my golfing group of 8 golfers, Clover Valley has been a favorite course to play regularly. With that said, I had the opportunity to play Clover Valley on Sunday-March 29th for an 18 hole round. Needless to say we were extremely disappointed in the overall general conditions of the course. Having said that with the realization it is late March and spring weather conditions create some challenges in course condition. However the current course conditions and overall quality are the worse we have ever experienced and were very disappointing to the point of the agreement we would no longer include Clover Valley in our course rotation Due to the poor conditions of the course currently. Very disappointing to see this major decline in overall course conditions especially when you realize the many public course available in the Columbus area. What a shame. This course is trash!!! Practically every course that Kemper has touched, has turn to s---. They are putting hardly any money in the courses they manage and still ask top dollar for fees. What a joke. Notice that any reviews 2 stars and below, you can't read without the app., there's a reason for that, they are trying to hide the fact, this course is junk! read more

The course layout was nice, but it needs help. It's almost like the Minerva Gold Course, when they stopped maintaining it because they knew they would sell it to build houses. $51 is not worth the price for the condition of the course, and the employees were rude, except for the cart girl. She is always friendly. read more

A lot of dry spots due to bad weather but other than that a fun course to play. I would like to play it again sometime soon if the conditions get better. read more

Saturday July 12, 2025 I played Clover Valley Golf Course. The date is posted so you will know this is a current review. Over the years, I've played CV approximately 10 times. The course has a fun layout and usually is in good condition. It has been 5-6 years since I played the course. Yesterday the greens were fine. However, tee to green, the condition of the course was horrible. The other central OH courses I've played this year have been in excellent shape. Those courses include Virtues, Denison Golf Club, Cumberland Trail, Apple Valley, Eaglesticks, and Chapel Hill. Hopefully, the conditions at Clover Valley will recover. read more

Course was in diabolical shape... Absolute goat farm. No grass anywhere, course is dried out and hard as a rock. Tee boxes are horrendous and unplayable. Worst conditions I've seen all year in Central Ohio. Worst than Royal American. This is a DO NOT PLAY. read more

Course is Trash. Played yesterday. The greens are as tall as fairways, bunkers have no sand, and there's crap spots everywhere that has no grass. This course use to be awesome years ago but now it's complete trash! read more

Always like this course. I made a Hole in One in early June. At the turn one of our 4 some mentioned to a manager, he was told they don't record or do anything special anymore. This was Disappointing. Other courses in the area still report to The local papers and preset you with a paper stating the day, which hole, witnesses etc. Not Clover Valley. read more

This is a great course out in the country without houses surrounding every hole like most courses in Central Ohio. Fairways and greens were in great shape and highly recommend Clover Valley!! read more

One of the worst conditions, I have seen in awhile. course has potential to be nice if it was maintained correctly.

This used to be a decent course, but it seems Kemper is not investing any money into the course. The bunkers are atrocious at best, with a good portion of the just given up on so weeds are growing in them. A good portion of the greens are trashed, and most of the fairways are garbage. The staff was great but keep your 65 dollars and spend it elsewhere. Shame on Kemper for allowing this course to go to hell. read more

What an amazing course!! Tucked away in the countryside, quiet, calm and the course is fantastic. Glad we had the early tee time to beat the heat but the course was challenging, and in great shape. Broke 90 for the first time this year!! read more

course and greens in great condition. Bunkers were a much different story....not maintained at all! They looked horrible....weeds have been growing in them since spring! No maintenance at all. I even asked the desk guy how the course was looking and he said great... . Worse part is they charged $66 (premium course rate) and have obviously decided to NOT invest back in the course. Clover Valley is a well maintained public course out in the country but close enough to suburban Columbus. The greens and fairways are in pretty good shape but had a little bit of damage depending on the hole. The hole placement on the green was pretty difficult which was annoying considering the general difficulty level of the course. The carts were nice but could have used a good spray down. Overall, it's worth a visit if you find a good deal. read more

Nothing invested back into the course. Health risk to hit out of the dried mud/rock bunkers. One can see that it was once a very nice course. The "new ownership" theory has an expiration date. Great course that is ALWAYS in top shape. If it's busy you'll find it a tad slow as it's pretty tough. A couple holes have a very interesting risk & reward aspect. Even if it's a totally calm day- at Clover Valley you'll find at least a breeze running across the property that will be against you on some holes and with you on others. Nice range, chipping area, and putting green to warm up with. read more

One thing one will not find is sand in the bunkers. Some of them are neglected to the point that they'rel ponds. One green was one third deadened by what was probably a flood. Just crusty mud throughout the middle of the green. The golf carts were good. The snack bar had great hot dogs the big 1/4 pound kind. It was busy but we were never rushed nor did we have to wait. Is this golf course going to turn it around? Wont be back at these rates. read more

Nice Track!! Played this course because of a Groupon and I was not disappointed. It was a blisteringly hot day and we teed off in the worst of it at 1:00! The first couple of holes are kinda short and easy, but the course has a variety of long and short par 4's, a couple of true par 5's and some good looking par 3's. It was in really good shape - cart paths only due to overnight rain, but the greens were really nice and fast. Lots of holes with elevated tee boxes that just beg you to unleash the dogs!! Pretty rolling hills and woods with no houses visible around the course. Overall: Difficulty - 6 out of 10 Condition - 7 out of 10 Greens - 8 out of 10 Staff/Ambience - 7 out of 10 They could really use some water coolers around the course. Are they trying to cause heat strokes out here? Not much shade either on the course + no water coolers + 100 degree heat index = dizzy on number 16!! This is a nice course, very out of the way for me, but a good value. A nice job maintaining the course at a time when a lot of courses are saying F** it to some of the "smaller things". read more

Not a bad course. Play here a lot for High School golf and other times as well. pros and greens keepers are kinda bags. Not sure why they treat this Public Course like some PGA destination ... nasty and unfair pin placements. Mowers were all over all day as well and never quieted down. Darby Creek is better read more

When I first went to this course, I assumed it would be a run down, and very boring course. I was wrong. The clubhouse and practice area is very nice, there are some very clever hole layouts, and in all it is a very nice course that I'll be back to play soon. read more

I have lived 2 miles from this course for the past 9 years and have witnessed the decline of the course, amenities and staff first hand. Golf in Johnstown is fantastic, there are a number of great courses that are reasonably priced with friendly staffs so I dont have to play here but once every year I go and immediately regret it. The course was fantastic in '07-'08 and hosted a lot of big outings and events, the layout is excellent and the course was in fantastic shape, known for their fast and true greens. As the course sits today, it reminds me of a average municipal course which is fine if your green fees reflect this change. However, they continue to charge rates 2X that of a municipal course and they are 40% higher than surrounding courses. Two of the staff members are the rudest people I have ever encountered at a golf course and couldn't do more to make you feel unwelcome. Many people I have spoken with in regards to my experiences have echoed the same comments when speaking about these two staff members; they lack the most basic customer service skills. The last 4 times I tried to hit range balls was told, 1. You can't hit range balls unless you have a tee time 2. They didn't have any range balls available 3. I couldn't because it was being picked (there was no one picking the range) 4. It was too wet (it hadn't rained in 4 days). With young kids it would be nice to take them to the range to learn the game but they make it impossible. Needless to say, Clover Valley will never get another dollar from me, it's sad to see what was once a beautiful course fall into such disrepair under the new ownership. read more
