Clovis community is a great alternative to the first two years at a university. As a STEM student I can only speak for the science department, but every teacher I've had here is awesome! Teachers like Glaves, Gardner, Renwick, Dormedy, and Walters have helped me reach my goals and become a more knowledgeable and able student. They are often willing to help with ideas outside of the class you're enrolled in, which speaks volumes about their character. A lot of teachers at CCC do, or at one point did, teach for FSU, so you get a university level instructor with the price of a community college. These instructors truly love what they do and thrive on their student success. Besides the instructors, the campus is clean and the maintenance staff works hard on the landscaping and cleanliness of classrooms! The science department is well-funded and I never felt like we had a lack of equipment in chemistry or biology. My only complaint is that there are books "required" from the bookstore website that often go completely unused. This could be easily fixed by having instructors review their required material with the bookstore prior to the start of semester. Other than that, Clovis Community College is awesome! read more

As I'm writing this, I'm about to start my second semester at CCC. So far, I've had a great experience. The school has a sleek and modern design, considering it opened less than twenty years ago. It doesn't get crowded, and the campus is disturbingly always quiet. The students and professors are friendly and welcome you with open arms. I recommend this school to introverted students who need a smooth transition to secondary education without the stress of an overwhelming university. read more

I'm in my second semester here, and the counseling center has been incredibly frustrating to deal with. Earlier this semester, they failed to add me to a class that I had already been accepted into, which put me in the position of having to scramble for a late-start class. When I went to the counseling office to fix the issue, we walked in at 3:02 PM. The woman at the front desk immediately looked at us and said, "We close at 3." I asked if she could just take my paperwork and help with one quick thing, and she repeated--clearly irritated--"We close at 3." No effort to help. No attempt to point me in the right direction. Just shut down. For a place that's supposed to support students, the counseling center has been anything but helpful in my experience. If you need assistance here, make sure you go well before closing time--because apparently two minutes past 3 means you're completely out of luck. read more

As a recent college graduate, I can highly recommend Clovis Community College. I just finished my Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from a university in Arizona. However, I have a new perspective on city colleges and specifically Clovis Community. Going to Clovis Community before a 4 year gave me time to figure out more of what I wanted to do. It also prepared me and gave me a lot of experience with what there was to come for a 4 year university. I actually feel like Clovis community was more challenging than my four year university in Arizona that I went to. Some people may view this as a bad thing, but I think it's a great thing, because being challenged and having harder classes at a community college makes everything else feel easy in the long run. Now don't get me wrong, yes it's hard depending on what classes and major you have, but all of the professors I had were excellent and wanted to see you succeed. I should specify that the general education classes were not that hard, but just the right amount of toughness. I feel like it's a win-win because you're getting great experience at a great price and if you are someone like me who needed extra time to figure out where they wanted to go with their life then this is a no-brainer. read more

For what it is, it's a pretty good school. I had some of the best teachers of my life at Clovis. Teachers like Hickey, Glaves, Hembd, Willis, Goon, Gejeian, Allen, Elliott, and McPhee have educated and inspired me beyond my wildest dreams. I am forever grateful to these wonderful educators. The cafe is pretty bad so you might have to bring your own food. I worked (and still work) at the tutorial center as a math tutor, and that job helped me realize that I have a passion for teaching. The more you put in, the more you'll get out. Never stop trying to succeed. If you're not doing well, it's likely not on the teachers. It's on you. read more

My son has gone here for the past 2 years and is now ready to transfer. I have to say most of the pros are that there is adequate parking and also the financial aid was fairly smooth. Cons: A lot of teachers cancel classes last minute, order you to have books that end up not getting used and then the bookstore doesn't buy them back. I have a book we paid $100 for last year, and we never so much as took the shrink wrap off. He never used it, and we were unable to get our money back at the end of the year. Granted he should have taken it back sooner during the last few weeks of school, and he didn't remember. But essentially a teacher shouldn't order you to have a book that won't be used. Such waste!! All in all, though, I am happy there is this option in Clovis for kids to go to. read more

At a glance, this is a newly updated campus with visibly better maintenance compared to other options, including its sister campus on Herndon. The pros consist of their (1) convenient bus lines, one goes from River Park to their Clovis Campus, and the other goes from Herndon to also the Clovis Campus; (2) spacious outdoor; (3) availability of counselors; (4) fairly easy to arrange on-campus counseling appointments; (5) because it is rather new compared to other campuses, the study spaces are more readily available. The biggest con for me, and also the missing star of this review, has to be the familiar, boxed atmosphere in classrooms that constantly reminds me of high school. It does not help that there is little to no presence of mature learners, thus creates sort of an intense Mean Girl environment with little awareness of the outside world. Another thing which I have noticed so far is how a lot of the high school graduates, even several instructors, think what happen on various school life drama series offered through Netflix and Hulu as well as the comment section on Twitter is life itself. Completely delusional and out of touch. What confuses me is how some of the teachers are excited by this blatant ignorance and goes to great length to encourage it by practicing ignorance themselves through (a) not giving useful and critical feedbacks where needed, (b) acting intentionally dismissive to silent certain opinions, (c) engaging in selective conversations with only certain students who hold similar viewpoints and (d) ignore different or controversial opinions on purpose to maintain the politically correct environment. Just to be clear, I am not saying all instructors do this, but just be aware that some do, and I do not want to name them. Having been to other colleges, it is obvious to me that the inner working of Clovis urgently needs more people of diversed backgrounds and at different ages and stages of employment to create a better mix of experience for students and competency among staff. To be fair, there are great students and faculty members who are open-minded and are working hard, and I do not say that just to be nice because I do know some of them, but they are sadly rare and not as frequently represented as the obnoxious children. As a result, lack of diversity of thought is something I see missing from a lot of classes, as well as the tolerance and encouragement for such. The other, not as significant cons include their small and understaffed cafeteria as well as the poorly managed hall in AC1. read more

I'm going to school online. I get calls and messages saying I didn't do something in the past (not assignments) or something was wrongly made, but it isn't brought to my attention for weeks. With this school my education is happening around me not with me. I don't even know what a problem is unless I go to an advisor who tells me something happened MONTHS AGO. Why wasn't I informed? Why do they even give student emails if they don't tell me important things about my schooling? read more

Willow International is a nice newer addition to the Community College system. Its a new and clean campus, and its still new enough that everything is still in great condition. The only downside is that the classes offered are still minimal. (However they are trying to become an actual junior college, instead of just a satellite branch of Fresno City. I disagree that it is to far North. From my house it is takes me the exact same amount of time to get to Willow International as it does Fresno City. It doesn't cater to rich white kids anymore than Fresno City does. read more

Clovis Community is a nice college. There's adequate parking, and while there's not much to eat, the cafe provides some decent (somewhat overpriced) food. Events seem like they are non-stop here, and food trucks come by every once in a while, with Dutch Bros. being the most commonly seen. The admissions staff doesn't seem too eager to be working, but the counsellors are always a great help. In general, the teachers I have had are great. However, if you're more conservative politically, many teachers here won't be your favorite (like with most colleges). Overall, Clovis Community provides a safe atmosphere and a great, clean learning environment. read more

I love this college. I didn't want to attend city because it's too packed and I wanted to be able to be comfortable. It's nice and quiet here, no drama whatsoever, counselors are awesome. Counselor Ryan Hireta(Hopefully I spelled that right) is amazing and helpful he helped me get back on track in school after taking a 2 year break. read more

All I gotta say is, You won't spend half an hour looking for parking like City. I took 2 semesters at City and now on my other second semester here at Willow. I always find parking, which is awesome for when I'm running late. I love the computer lab, I just chill there and work on my homework in till my next class. Its so easy to get a computer and to print. So easy and I love it, unlike at City *shutters* The professors are amazing. They actually work with you and it's a lot less and I mean A LOT less crowded then city. One thing I love is that the students there are wayy more focused about studying and getting the heck out of there then City. It's so quiet but I like it that way. The councelors are super awesome. They recently helped me with my student plan, and its very easy to talk to a counselor unlike city where you have to wait foreverrrrr to talk to one. Overall I love this college wayyyyy more than City. However, Some cons, mostly every student here are very veryyyy obnoxious and uppity. I've never met nor seen such closed minded ignorant people in my life. I hate the views that a majority of people think here. Also, it is too far north. Then again, thats my opinion and everyone is going to have a different opinion on the location due to where you live and for me it is toooo far. Especially with gas prices now a days. Although, it is worth the drive over here. I prefer this campus a MILLION TIMES BETTER than smelly old Fresno City. read more

I like that the campus is new but I hate that there is nowhere to walk to. Unlike fresno city, there are zero places to get something to eat or drink( except the cafe but trust me, the food sucks and so does the service) Another con is that there are lots of car break ins in the area. Con- there is no student lounge. I know Fresno city has a few and even have microwaves and refrigerators students can use, it would be nice if willow had something like that. The cafe on campus does not allow outside food of drinks, hard to believe that they are here for students and not there own selfish gain. read more

Willow International is a great campus and very clean. The library and computer labs are awesome, I basically live at the library. Being that this is my first semester of college, I'm having a pretty good time. Way better than high school! The teachers that I currently have are pretty great (except for my art teacher), but other than that Willow is a pretty nice campus. The people there aren't too freaky like Fresno City for example, and I LOVE the parking arrangement, its so organized! I've never eaten at the cafe but had heard that their food is pretty decent. Their book store had everything and anything, like clothes! read more

Really great teachers are located here but are mostly adjunct teachers. Meaning they aren't always readily available. Sometimes if not enough people register for the class the school will drop the class. Which I've had happen to me one time and was a major inconvenience. Other than that this school is growing at a rapid pace! read more
